Ive downloaded some new keyboards for my HTC Magic but they wont work on the phone. it just says its active but i get the same default one everytime. what could i bee doing wrong.

I�m planning to go on a trip in Europe where I can buy one of those Prepaid SIM card for GSM and use it with my HTC Magic phone. Since my phone is unlocked it should work. However, I understand the phone might operate on different frequencies on Nord America vs. Europe; the big question is, can the phone support the European frequencies? I was wondering if anybody had successfully used their HTC Magic in Europe.

Have any of you tried the compact keyboard with the Magic - it's better. It's like the Blackberry compact keyboard... I type much faster with it thanks to the bigger keys giving you better accuracy.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Legend and I experience problems accessing the keyboard during a call.
The screen goes black as soon as the call is connected and the keyboard only appears very briefly when i press the on/off button (first I have to unlock) and then disappears again before I can enter/press a digit. Even if I press a digit it is not registered. The screen just goes black, and in most cases I have to press the on/off button again to "wake" the screen up.
I usually have a bluetooth unit connected and find this problem very annoying since it is almost impossible to use services that require the user to enter digits.
1) Does anybody have a similar experience?
2) Is there a setting that I have not found/set correctly?
3) Your solutions/experiences are most welcome.
I can't get the SlideIT to work on my HTC droid eris. Does it even work on 1.5 or do I need to have 2.1 for it to work?

I have an HTC Magic running 1.6, but this has been happening since I've had the phone. Basically, when using the default keyboard (which, incidentally, seems tonnes better since the update - it's made me not care that HTC IME doesn't work) it'll sometimes miss usually two key presses. And the phone physically recognizes then, because they pop up above my finger, but they never appear in the text entry field. It's bizarre - does it happen to anyone else, and does anyone else know how to fix it? (Incidentally, does anyone else regularly hit the key instead of space bar by accident. It annoys the piss out of me.)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a rogers branded magic, I love it, but I would like to try some other keyboard skins, I have installed better keyboard as well as acre different skins. I go to the options for text input and set it to use better keyboard, but when I actually pull up the keyboard is the same old keyboard. Am I doing something wrong or has rogers somehow locked the keyboard??

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my Magic today (Rogers) and things went pretty smoothly. Phone unlocked fine, AT&T's APN entered correctly, web browsing is good, Exchange is up and running, etc. But, I am having a problem dialing outbound calls, it is only working intermittently. I'm in a known good service area (5 bars) and have strong signal. Half the time I try to make an outbound call, it fails after about 5 seconds of just sitting there and saying "dialing" - it just craps-out and I get the fast busy signal and a "called failed" message. I try again - same thing. Every once and a while it will go through - and then the cycle happens all over again. This isn't happening in any of my other devices. Could there be a setting in the "phone" area that I have to tweak or something? Obviously a phone that doesn't make calls consistently is no good to me!
