I recently got a HTC Magic. The only thing that bothers me is the "iPhone-ish" skin on the keyboard and dialer. Is there any way I can get the default Android keyboard and dialer? I would rather not root the device, but if I have to, I'll do it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyway while trying out ROMS today I tried the default android keyboard and I have to say. I LOVE IT. It completely owns the hero keyboard that came with my rogers htc magic. Anyway I basically want to know how to install the original android keyboard on other ROMS.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi love my phone, but the suggestions offered by predictive text drives me crazy sometimes! i would like to know how i change the order of the suggested words? for example, when i am using the t9 keyboard and i have predictive text on and i press #4 and #3 i am usually trying to type the word "if" or "he" but the word typed is "id" which is kinda stupid as this is a much less often used word. how do i change it this? when i was using a s60 device i could open a new message and keep typing the same word over and over again until it started giving me the word i wanted as my first option. please dont tell me to use the full keyboard as i prefer to use the phone keypad so i can text one-handed.

So is there an easy way to type the word "I'll". I have to upper case the letters then type "I", then switch to the symbols and type ', then back to the letters to type "ll". This just seems way to much for a little word. My BB Tour would recognize so much easier. If there is no easy way to type it, wonder if Froyo will fix it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave any of you tried the compact keyboard with the Magic - it's better. It's like the Blackberry compact keyboard... I type much faster with it thanks to the bigger keys giving you better accuracy.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWonder you guys have experience this issue with the keyboard whether is in Portrait or Landscapre, I noticed that the last row "keys" are not sensitive.. you will have to touch the 'key" button a little above the bottom line of the screen to be able to sense it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe title is my question. I found out how to add stuff to the stock android dictionary, but I added stuff I meant as just a test and now I don't know how to delete them.I posted this on xda but haven't gotten an answer yet. Was wondering if anybody here had some insight.Keep in mind this is the STOCK ANDROID keyboard I'm talking about, not swype. For this phone there is no "Language and Keyboard" setting, which is the answer I came across when I tried to google for an answer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I downloaded the Google Keyboard 2.0 from AndroidPolice [URL] ..... and noticed a problem:
When I'm typing, and I mistype, instead of correcting to the most likely word like it did in the old blue version, now it autocorrects to whatever I mistyped but in all CAPS. So, if I'm typing "that" and instead I type "thay" it will autocorrect to "THAY." This is extremely obnoxious.
How can I hide the suggested words or turn off auto complete for the virtual keyboard?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to find an answer to this although I seem to recall that when I first got the phone that I did it once for one word. When in Android Keyboard input, if you type in a word that is not in the dictionary, is there a way to save it so that it comes up again in the future and you don't have to type the whole word out each time you use it? It appears that this is the case in swype (which I do not care for) but after a lot of trial and error, I cannot seem to locate a place where you can do this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the Swiftkey Keyboard and like it a lot but am a bit frustrated by the autocomplete concept they use. I guess there should be two options: autocorrect spelling mistakes I make and another option for autocompleting words I am trying to type. Too often I find that Swiftkey's "predicted" word option based on what I type is so far off that I end up sending a nonsensical message to people.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor instance when i type in the word "me" but when it auto corrects the e has a downward carrot above it. and it does this for many many words. language is in english, so not sure what it could be. i use for now the htc keyboard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else notices that when using the Android keyboard the predictive text will randomly capitalize words? Its kind of bugging me and I've rooted my phone, so is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Magic this summer and I'm loving it.But recently i found a bug which is starting to annoy me. When trying to make the first call with the default dialer that comes with Magic and android 1.5, it gets canceled right away. I press the top entry in the list, it goes to the call display (with the droid in the background and showing the name of call recipient), then i hear a beep and call canceled. When I try to dial again, it works! Problem is; it's really annoying to make the call twice!Has anyone experienced this problem? Or have a proposal how to fix it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a theme from the market and when I switched scenes back to HTC then back to the one I downloaded, a new wallpaper showed up, which I really like. I didn't like the theme (I think it was causing problems on my phone) so I uninstalled it, but the wallpaper remained (bonus). I have used it on my phone ever since, and now I want to restore my phone to factory default and redo everything in the hopes it will restore the speed my phone once had. I would really like to save the wallpaper but I can't find it anywhere on my phone. I have searched for hours trying to find where it could be or if I could even somehow grab the file being downloaded from the market and extract the wallpaper there. Does anyone know where to find the current home screen wallpaper. I've read that it was in the data directory, but that can only be accessed if you root your phone (i think) which I really don't want to do. I'm just trying to find some way that I can have the wallpaper saved and I can put it back on my phone without having to install the theme (which may or may not have caused the problems on my phone).

I have a Samsung galaxy S3 which is about a year old. About 2 days go i tried updating my software to Kit.Kat. It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. I also don't want to restore to factory default because i don't want to loose all my photos.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGalaxy s2 sgh t989 rooted followed all steps.I ran hc-ktool to backup efs.img and efs.tar.gz. I have not flashed any ROM for fear of turning my s2 into a paper weight. I downloaded root browser from play store to try and look deeper. That is when i noticed my efs folder was empty. I have been scouring my files but feel like a blind man looking for a needle in a haystack.
i still have a good imei and broadband version...everything seems okay. I am reluctant to do anything for fear of bricking. I no longer have lockscreen or power off menu either. Can i reset the phone to factory default and restore my efs? If so, do i have to unroot my phone?
I am using Samsung i699 (android 2.3.6) in China, They preinstalled so many suck apps. After I rooted and removed a bunch of apps including system files, and then every time when I power on, it displays "Low Storage Space there is not enough storage space available to complete this action, clear some space and try again" Before remove some system files such as applications provider, kies, kies wifi and etc... it never had any problems. So here I have a question:
I want to restore factory default. When I press "restore factory default", it just restores my settings, or restores all the apps and systems files I deleted?
I own my HTC Magic for only few days till now, but there is one problem what really makes me angry. I bought this phone mainly for having good and comfortable access to the internet. So, all websites are working good on default browser, except one - pinnaclesports.com. When I try to enter there, it says error:
The application Browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
And I have only 1 option to choose - Force close.
The same happens on Dolphin. Opera is working good with pinnaclesports website, but to be honest I don't like Opera, I definetely prefer default browser.
I've been trying almost everything. I did wipe and even changed interface from standard to Sense UI (which IMO is worse than normal interface) and I still get the same error.
I have an HTC Magic running 1.6, but this has been happening since I've had the phone. Basically, when using the default keyboard (which, incidentally, seems tonnes better since the update - it's made me not care that HTC IME doesn't work) it'll sometimes miss usually two key presses. And the phone physically recognizes then, because they pop up above my finger, but they never appear in the text entry field. It's bizarre - does it happen to anyone else, and does anyone else know how to fix it? (Incidentally, does anyone else regularly hit the key instead of space bar by accident. It annoys the piss out of me.)
