View 4 Replies View RelatedI have internet blox on my htc magic. It means unlimited internet in my country. This summer, I am going on holiday in an other country. They probably have a WiFi connection on the camping. Now my question is: does it cost me money if I use that wifi connection? Or do I get a warning or so when I am paying for the internet?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a new HTC Magic (Vodafone) user and have downloaded a number of useful Apps from the market. Since I work away from the UK (and have roaming disabled) and I have a Wi-Fi at home, I do not have a data pack included in my contract. However, I have found that a great App I downloaded - NetCounter - is reporting cell traffic that is going to end up costing me a lot of money.
So I have a few questions.
1) How do I switch between running applications, so I can see what's running?
2) How do I prevent certain Apps from starting whenever I power on the phone?
3) How do I see what Apps are connecting to the internet(ignoring the WiFi) and creating unwanted cell traffic.
4) Is there something I can disable so that I can use the phone normally, but prevent it from connecting to the internet unless I am back home and using the WiFi connection.
Can't transfer files through bluetooth and can't browse, finding it difficult to understand it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedfor whatever reason today we lost our internet connection at work. Now I work for an airline doing charters and today we added a second flight to each shift. So I tethered my phone for the 3g and just plugged it in at the end of the day to charge it. Needless to say it handeled 300 passengers/customers easy. Changes, bag fees, checking in and selling for a solid 8hrs today! I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone ever. Maybe a bigger SD, but phone, probably not.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently found that my internet connection only appears to work when I am in contact with WIFI, the o2 service seems to have stopped working. When I have wi fi turned off, as I can't connect when I am not in work anyway I use the usual O2 facilty however in this mode, I cannot download anything. I seem to be receiving my email notification ok. Is there something I may need to change in my settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an LG Optimus Elite and when I first set the phone up with WIFI, the bars were green and everything worked, but then I powered the phone off and the bars turned white and my WIFI status says that I'm connected but nothing (except the browser, Skype and sometimes Youtube) works--they all mostly say "authentication required" or "not connected." I have multiple laptops, have had two iPod Touch devices, and friends' devices work just fine on my internet, but this one won't--the time/date isn't even correct.
I've rebooted the phone about 4 times and each doing different things, like signing in to Youtube with Google account, syncing my Google account, and just trying different things with the WIFI (airplane mode, turning off sleep), and I've restarted my modem and router. I logged in at a restaurant and the time was correct, but I wasn't able to check more than that. I've been searching for a fix for a few days now and nothing has worked at home.
I don't have the phone plan connected so there's nothing that I can do with the 3G connection. It's just really frustrating because I bought two of these phones (one for myself, and one for my girlfriend) and only one phone works, even though we've checked to see if all our settings were exactly the same--which they are.
Edit: Each time I power the phone off the WIFI bars turn white and the internet doesn't work good (like I wrote above). For the amount of time that there is internet (after factory reset) the time is wrong. I forgot to mention this.
Edit 2: I cleared the Google Services Framework data and, after doing that, the WIFI works until I power the phone off and on again. I'll add more information as I try more things.
Is there one click apps to enable/disable wifi, and bluetooth?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus Slider Sl101. Around 3 days ago, our router had been changes as the previous one wasn't working properly. Our carrier is Charter and our router is Netgear. We hooked every device up to that new router and everything worked fine, including the tablet. But later on in the day,the Internet on there stopped working.
It shows that it's connected, but when I try to access the internet through the browser, it does not work. The blue line at the top of the browser starts up, moves forward a little, and stops entirely while the browser then says "Webpage Not Available". Apps that require Internet, such as Accuweather and my SAT apps, fail to work as well. Other devices that use our wifi include another computer and Nintendo DSi and 3DS. They all work fine. Our router shows that our android is connected to it, as well.
I've tried the static IP stuff, restarted the router, left the wifi off on the tablet for a few hours, and turned it off and off. I even factory resetted it and not even that worked.
I have a strange problem with my Galaxy S. I have unlimited mobile internet(3G), but not all Apps work.
For example when I am on the mobile internet network, de standard Internet browser does not work. It just displays a white page whatever I'm trying to load.Other programs say there is no internet connection avaible or just don't respond.
However there are 2 programs that d work. Opera Mini and eBuddy can work with Wi-Fi and 3G. Other Apps like to check if it's gonna rain, or a News RSS viewer etcetera does not work. They only do with Wi-Fi.I have no clue what to search for and also no idea if it's my mobile phone or my provider(it's named 'Hi', it's dutch).
I am currently unable to browse the internet on any browser on my phone, other apps that access the internet work fine. I've removed a few apps that I updated this morning, such as juice defender, the rest were just games from what I can see. Is there a way to see when apps were last updated, obviously last resort is a full wipe but don't really want to do that if I can get away with it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIssue: Internet works, but wont browse
I am having a slight issue with my new lovely HTC desire. I love this phone, but there are a few annoyances that I'd love to iron out.
Mainly, browsing the Internet. All of my apps work fine, all of my widgets update correctly, Facebook works, the market place is open for business: everything appears fine. However, occasionally, when I open the browser (Google is my homepage) and after I have typed what I would like to search, I am unable to press 'enter'. The enter button on the keyboard does nothing. When pressing the little magnifying glass in the browser: nothing.
I have found a workaround by copying my text and pasting it into the search on the HTC Desire itself (with the bottom right hand button on the phone itself) and this searches the Internet no questions asked.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? It usually happens when I try to show off to my friends that, like the Lawnmower Man, I have immediate access to the Internet to answer their questions. But I embarrassingly get stuck waiting for it to work, having to cut, paste... I am losing kudos here....
Some apps like location tracking apps on my sons phone does not work all the time when his phones on 2g internet. But on wifi it seems to work all the time. Apps like life360 location tracking apps, remote control apps like androidlost, which uses push messages and also polling services works intermittently. Sometimes it works on 2g internet and sometimes it does not. But on wifi, there's no problem at all.
But strangely messaging apps like viber works continuously on 2g or wifi without any problems.
I formatted my SD card a couple of days back. Now that I'm trying to add my music back to it. The music application gives me "No Music Found". I know it's on the SD card because wen I go on astro I can see all the music. Really need this fixed by tonight.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo here's my situation: I work at a calling center where internet access is blocked off. I have my own cubicle and get my own computer But they have blue coat Web filter And i lack Administrative So i can install only very limited programs. I've tried starling the android sdk But to no avail. I've thought about tethering too but i'm not sure if that will work Since i don't know if a computer.can maintain more than 1 internet connection. Basically i can't have my phone out while at work, so i need to figure out a way to use my phone to browse the internet on my computer screen without being obvious.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this has been answered but all the threads i've read are about using the internet overseas or don't specifically state whether or not all the Apps will work without a data plan through WiFi. I have WiFi access at work/school/home and am going to buy Copilot live so that I have offline maps, so I don't feel the need to get data since it is so expensive. Before I commit to picking up a used G1 I just want to confirm that all apps work without a dataplan as long as i'm connected via WiFi.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCan you tell me (viz. those of you with a working hotspot!), can you still use your browser when the hotspot is active. Just turning the hotspot on on my desire cuts the (mobile data) internet connection with the browser, and anything else!
In fact even after turning off the hotspot I have to toggle mobile data on/off & toggle APN's to get mob. data back.
Also which Orange APN's/usernames/passwords do you have success with & which not?
I have tried all the posted solutions & even HTC technical!
Any bright ideas anyone?
I think my last resort is to de-brand (unlocked Tmob used on Orange sim) I reckon!
I have to get this working for use abroad. It's driving me nuts!
I just got my HTC Desire today, and have been learning how it works etc, but I just tried to do a google search, use youtube and sign into facebook using the facebook app and widget, and nothing will work. I can use FriendStream fine.. I updated my facebook status with it and it's showing updates as they happen. I'm using my home wifi and the phone says it's connected with signal strength 'good'. Can anyone explain what the problem might be? I haven't tried 3g yet, if that matters at all. (not entirely sure how I'd switch to it for testing purposes other than going outside out of wifi range)

Ive tried some tethering apps but the same result.
