I have bought a htc magic which is second product. Unfortunately, this phone doesn't have software (OS). So, is there anyone know how to install fresh copy of Android OS in my phone? I'm so need this phone to do my final assignment of my course.

Where do you copy the songs into magic? Right now the music player is empty. Do i create a new folder? I cant find anything in the music player to help me on this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I managed to get my Evo rooted with unrevoked and then loaded Fresh 3.3 on it a week or so later. I did a couple of back ups using titanium back up, one of the stock ROM and one with the fresh ROM. I kept these on the SD card but I think I should move them to my computer b/c they are large files. What should I have done once I installed Fresh 3.3? Is there something on the root of the SD card I should have deleted? I don't have the space to update to the fresh 3.4 right now and would like to get it updated ASAP.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install apk's in my new htc magic I had before a G1 and I didn't found any problem, just doing adb install myapp.apk and that's it now, when I do the same with my htc, it says "error: device not found" Also, I noticed that if I type "adb devices", I dont get any device shown...I have also done the following settings in the mobile, with no luck: settings->applications->unknown sources (checked) settings->applications->development->usb debugging (checked) settings->applications->development->allow mock locations (checked) I know that is not a problem with the usb cable, as I have tried a few of them, including the one that was working with the G1... It could be a problem with the usb drivers, but everything seems fine in my device manager.

I know there are a lot of threads on the topic and from what i can tell - it basically comes down to - there's no security just kidding. It seems like the data you have in your private area /data/data/com.company.product/files is only accessible to your application, so it would be sufficient to store anything (like encryption keys for example) in just plain text files there if you wanted. the big drawback of doing this though is that a "rooted" phone would be able to access that area -- therefore, no security. does "copy protection" solve this problem? if I "copy protect" my .apk bundle, I know that that makes it so that it cannot be seen by "rooted" phones in the Android Market, but what about if the .apk bundle got out in the wild (i.e. posted on some website, not via market). Would a "rooted" phone then be able to grab and install the .apk file (and ultimately gain access to the app-private area)? Could someone install the copy protected .apk file in an emulator?

Using instructions on android's developer site, I installed eclipse with the right plugins, got created the AVD and wrote my first Hello World app which ran in the AVD. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?
Anyway while trying out ROMS today I tried the default android keyboard and I have to say. I LOVE IT. It completely owns the hero keyboard that came with my rogers htc magic. Anyway I basically want to know how to install the original android keyboard on other ROMS.
