When I click on the nandroid backup my the process starts, then i think the phone goes to reboot during the process (I assume this is part of the process?) then I get a error icon on my phone a Triangle with a exclamation point in the middle, then I'm stuck, the phone wont reconnect to Fresh Kitchen. should I use recovery to fore reboot? help? One thought, do i have to use the USB to micro USB that comes with the phone or can I just use a standard micro USB to USB that I always use (the one that came with my digital camera)

If I remove the nandroid backup from my SD card, then when I need it put it back in the same exact spot, will it still work? Sorry for asking but better safe than sorry.

I'm ready to root my Evo just looking for detailed instructions on how to get Fresh 053 on there. Read that I needed to do something with the NAND? Can anyone point me to a link for instructions on installing it from stock release day rom to newest Fresh version. I also updated with the OTA when it was pushed to my phone earlier if that matters.

New to rooting but I got sick of reading the 2.1 spec threads so I decided to root. I used pre-kitchen to auto root. All went well. I also just flashed the fresh 2.0d ROM. I was wondering how to install or flash or whatever, the fresh-2.0d-audiofix.zip.

Just completed my first root of my Hero, and plan to install Fresh 2.1.1, but I am unclear on the matter of apps2sd being built into it (is it?) and whether I need to back up my entire 16g sd card before I load 2.1.1. I can live with not using apps2sd if it means I don't need to re-copy my entire sd card which is near full.

I am fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I managed to get my Evo rooted with unrevoked and then loaded Fresh 3.3 on it a week or so later. I did a couple of back ups using titanium back up, one of the stock ROM and one with the fresh ROM. I kept these on the SD card but I think I should move them to my computer b/c they are large files. What should I have done once I installed Fresh 3.3? Is there something on the root of the SD card I should have deleted? I don't have the space to update to the fresh 3.4 right now and would like to get it updated ASAP.

I just Rooted 2.2 and I tried to install Fresh Evo 3.1.0.2. It worked but for some reason it's just hanging at the boot screen. It's been about 15 min now and It keeps replaying the animation. What did I do wrong?

I need help on how to install Fresh (auto root). I am following the guide on how to root guidelines? I need to know if I need to download the fresh prekitchen 0.2 files first or can I go straight to the latest build Fresh Rom 2.0b + 2.0b2 (Android 2.1).

Fellow stale Donut Galaxy users [I think we can thank Samsung for that, eh?]. I'm tired of my [buggy] JC4, and I've finally worked up the nerve to try messing around with unofficial ROMs. But I can't seem to find a proper and step-by-step guide to installing Galaxo 1.6.3.4. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I'm familiar with ADB and I've flashed firmwares before [albeit, the official Samsung ones via Odin].

I've been running Pete's beast, which I installed using the update.zip. I'm considering doing a fresh install via nandroid, but I have one concern: will I lose my apps that I paid for, and all the data? Is there anyway to back them up?

So I rooted a little while back & have only been having problems. For whatever reason, the only rom I can get to work is Fresh 2.3. I've tried installing CM1, the nightlies, both the blue & vanilla themed version, and darchroid 2.8. I couldn't even get CM1 and darchroid 2.8 to get past the white htc screen. Is there any way I can get back to stock 2.1 and unroot? I'm hoping if I do that and try rooting again then maybe things will work. Also, is there any way to delete all the bloatware on fresh 2.3? I love the performance of the rom but I can't deal with how little memory it leaves me.

I was running CM6, but I had heard some people saying they were getting even better performance from stock 2.2, so I thought I'd give it a try. I downloaded a 2.2 ROM using ROM Manager and it said I could get a rooted or non-rooted version. The only option I was given was to select Superuser Permissions, which seems to be an app but I don't know how to use it. I know for sure I don't have root anymore. How do I get root back? Is there an easy way to simply restore from the nandroid backup I did prior to this? I don't have clockworkmod recovery anymore. I tried to reflash it but I can't because I don't have root.

So I just got my droid today, got it rooted, reflashed and booted the recovery image for the nandroid backup and performed a nandroid backup. This was all with the droid plugged into my computer.
Then I downloaded BB and when I went to do an nandroid restore i couldn't get it to boot into the new recovery mode...I keep getting the stock reboot symbols
anyone have any ideas? I just looked in my root of the SD card.....the nandroid folder is there, the back up I made is there, so is there a reason i am getting the stock recovery image when i hold down x and the power button?

Is there any difference between the back up that ROM manager makes and Nandroid? Reboots to what looks like the same screen. Also, will either of these restore my home screen icon configs?

I have tried to backup my phone multiple ways and I have not had any luck. I manually rooted my phone, using the steps on this webpage:
[GUIDE] How To Root The Sprint CDMA Hero (Windows) - xda-developers
Manual Root Backup
When I tried the step 19 reboot recovery my phone just reboots to an HTC splash screen.
CLOCKWORK MOD
I also tried to use the clockwork mod market app to make a backup as see on this page
[Complete Guide] How To Fully Back Up And Restore Your Android Phone Using Nandroid Backup | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police
I click flash clockwork mod recovery it auto senses my phone cdma htc hero. I click on the hero, and nothing happens, I never receive a successfully flashed.
PREKITCHEN
Last I tried to perform a backup using prekitchen
the diagnostic showed I am green in all areas
I click on the nandroid backup and it reboots my phone and brings up a HTC splash screen.
basically I have to pull out the battery to get phone functionality back. I have read else where that I can hold volume down and power to bring up a recovery mod (this works) but I am not sure what to do when I get there.

Since a few weeks my phone turnes itself off accidentally, during any operation or just lying lazy on the desk. I had ARHD 6.5 since 6 months or so and I replaced it with 6.7 like 3 days ago, hoping this will solve the problem but it didn't. So I wanna try the stock rom and see whether it works or not, and if it won't I'll send it to rma. My question is how to recover original soft from nandroid backup, cause I tried and got stuck with bootloop. Do I have to recover the old firmware as well? I found some thread on how to remove clockwork and root, put the phone back S-ON and so on but I would have to recover stock rom first, right? I know I can also flash the stock rom, but the only one I found is not matching perfectly my original one, so I would rather get it back from backup. This phone is just so freaking annoying...

Let me start off by saying I did/still do have a nandroid and also a custom ROM zip on my SD. I used the ROM manager application to wipe data/cache, like I have done about 10 times this past week, and flashed a new ROM. So my phone reboots to recovery, "clockwork mod recovery", you have to use this recovery to use ROM manager, and instead of flashing the ROM, it gives me some error message. Now for anyone who isn't familiar with clockwork recovery, you can't flash a nandroid from it, you have to revert back to the stock recovery to flash a nandroid, or at least I do.
So now all I can do is reboot my hero which brings me back to stock 2.1 with no root access. Now I know what your thinking, "just flash your nandroid", but now I can't. To flash my nandroid I would have to reflash the stock recovery image through ROM manager, and now I'm stuck with the clockwork recovery image because ROM manager requires root to swap recoveries, and no ability to nandroid back to where I was before. Basically, unless there is a way to change my recovery back to stock without being rooted currently.

I'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?

So my Dinc which I bought on launch day blew the front speaker yesterday. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a brand new Dinc out today. My question is, I have already rooted my phone and installed like 50 apps on it with tons of other crap, settings, data, etc. I have made multiple nandroid backups and titanium backups. Can I just save the backups on my SD card then get my hands on the new Dinc, root that one as well then use my backups on the SD card to just load everything on to the new phone so I don't have to go through the process of re-setting up my entire phone again?
