HTC Legend :: Swapping Handsets / Getting Loose Personalization

The camera on my Legend is faulty and I've finally got Vodafone to send me a replacement, but I'm worried that I'm going to lose all of my personalization etc and have to spend hours getting the new phone to the way I've got my current one. I'm not too bothered about background, widgets etc, but I was wondering if anyone could give me advice as to how to get as much info from the old handset to the new - particularly the contacts that I want who are linked through Google and Facebook, and the apps I've downloaded.I've tried syncing with HTC Sync but, to be honest, am finding it confusing; I can't see what I've synced so am not sure if there was any point in doing that. I've also backed my phone and Google contacts up on the SD card (I think!) but I'm not sure if this will work.I love the Legend, but I hate how much of a technoidiot it makes me feel! I'm supposed to be competent with these things!

Can the forum members who have a handset from vodafone let me know if they are locked? Seems to be a mix of locked and unlocked handsets! I am on O2 looking to buy a Legend!

I saw a few xperia lauchers but all without. On other phone i had xperia laucher (z i think) with options in menu like drawer 4x4, 5x5, 5x6 etc, transparency of apps list background, desktop drawer, speed and other. So I`m looking for laucher like that for 4.2.1 zopo hd 1080p. I one with option but has gor only one option- rotation.

I just updated my Legend, it said it was to do with the camera. It's now version 1.32.161.4 and the root guide at 24/May r4 - HTC Legend rooting guide - Now with 1.31.x - Android @ MoDaCo says 1.31 and below is there any way to downgrade the Legend to what it was before? I think it was 1.21 or 1.23 not sure.

I wanted to get some public opinion on the usefulness of a HDMI out port on a smartphone/handset. Let's say the smartphone is capable of recording and decoding 720p or 1080p video. Would a HDMI port be useful for you? How would you use it?

I'm new to this forum. I have been searching around for Android 2.1 to place onto my Hero (GSM) - that IS the one that Telus uses, right? I have found several links which claim to have the download + instructions, but turn out to be dead. Can anyone comment on where to find this update? Is it stable? Are many people running it now? Any ideas when Telus will be releasing the full version?

We have been working on making a Android Application. The issue we are facing is the support across various Handsets, which actually are increasing by everyday. Our application deals with Android Calendar. Does anyone have idea about as to how we can span across the various handsets, is there a way where we can give types of handsets supported, or MARKET can handle it on its own?

I am working on developing an application which requires high precision time synchronization between handsets. I'm looking for under 100 microseconds of skew between phones. I wondered if anyone had tried this before. In theory the GPS receivers could be used to pretty accurately synchronize timing, but I'm not sure if Android is setup to use them that way. My first cut plan is to port a PTP (precision time protocol aka IEEE-1588) client to Android.

I have a background service that plays a sound when an event has happened with the following code: 1. MediaPlayer mp = MediaPlayer.create(getBaseContext(), R.raw.theEnd); 2. mp.start(); But sometimes I see from my errorlogs that people are getting a nullpointer on line nr 2 here. My music file is a MP3 file and works great on my G1. The comments on my app says "Doesn't work on Hero after update" but I am unsure if this is specific to the Hero since I don't have that information in my errorlogs. The app has > 50000 downloads so this code works for most of the people out there, but do anyone know why it doesn't work for all of them?

I have a Wi-Fi router D-Link Dir-615. My HTC Legend recognize the router but after enterring the key to unlock the connection, it fails to connect. 2 PC are connected and the HTC touch of my wife too, and all three work fine.

Recently Ive been noticing that when my phone is in standby mode, that it powers off. Usually a quick press of the power button brings the screen up, instead recently the phone reboots or powers up.

I was a Windows Mobile user since 02. So, learning to adapt.
I have tried to swapped virtual keyboards on my new HTC Evo- so far no luck. Here is what i have done- i installed a virtual keyboard like better keyboard or ultra keyboard-head over to settings-Language & Keyboard- and it gives me an option to click on whatever keyboard I want. Which I do, but it will not boot that keyboard- still goes to default. I have also restarted the phone afterward. No luck. Am I doing something wrong?

Cracked the screen! It only fell from my lap onto the centre console of the car, I have made it noticeable in the photo but you can hardly see it when the backlight is on. I will fix it soon, but I'll need a detailed guide on how to do it, I have seen some forums on how to do it but it doesn't seem that easy. I'll need a digitizer from fleebay & some tools, unless someone on the forums can do it?

I am pleased with the Legend, but at times things come up that confuse me somewhat. Recently a friend and I were taking photos and I thought it would be interesting to compare camera quality of her BB Curve 8900 with my HTC Legend. Below are the photos.

Does the stock "Camcorder" app shoot HD, or do I need another app. Is it even possible with the camera in the HTC Legend. Since it's 5MP, same as iPhone 4, which can also shoot HD, so I'm hoping yes?

I have a Sony-Ericsson Bluetooth headset which I used for several years with my previous phone. I wanted to pair it with my new Legend, but for some reason when I press Scan for devices in the Bluetooth setup, my PC shows up, my neighbor's Nokia shows up, but the headset never appears. I thought that Bluetooth devices were pretty universal; shouldn't my Legend see this headset and pair with it without problem?

So i semi regularly swap back and forth between my iphone 4's mini/micro Sim back to full Sim with a adapter to use in the captivate... never had a problem until today,,, i put the Sim in and now the captivate is not recognizing my Sim. I've double triple checked everything, i did use a REAL adapter vice my ghetto jury rigged piece of crap adapter this time, so i switched back to my ghetto rig and it still doesn't work now! is it possible that a pin broke off or something? can some one send me a pic so i could do a sight comparison? or any other words o wisdom?

I'm trying to dynamically swap in and out various layouts to one layout container. I've instantiated the container layout (mContainerLayout) by finding it using the id through the main Activity layout. This is successful. Next, I add the inner layout by calling:
layoutInflater = this.getLayoutInflater();
and then inflating the inner layout like this:
mInnerLayout = (LinearLayout) layoutInflater .inflate(R.layout.inner_layout, mContainerLayout);
This seems to work fine. I see the inner layout displayed in the Activity that holds the containing layout. Next, I want to swap in another inner layout, so I call: mContainerLayout.removeAllViews();and then I repeat the steps above. This is successful as well. The problem is when I try to swap in and out the instantiated layouts (the one that's returned from the inflate() call). When I call: mContainerLayout.removeAllViews();and then call: mContainerLayout.addView(mInnerLayout ); get a 'source not found' error. My question is: how can I swap the Layouts that have already been instantiated?

If this is a ridiculous question, I apologize in advance. I currently have my Evo rooted with toast method, and am using the 8GB SD card that came with it. I am going to buy the 32GB card in the next few days and just was wondering if swapping out those cards would undo any of the things I have done root/rom-wise so far or if I have to take anything into consideration whatsoever?

I've tried Go Launcher EX, but I hated the small dock icons. I'm using Samsung Galaxy Nexus, is there a Launcher that:
1. Don't alter the ICS dock icon size, or that have an option to resize the dock icons?
2. That support swipe gesture in the dock? (Swipe upwards to open shortcut)
3. Where it is easy to swap icons?
Which Launcher can do this?
