Does anyone know how to set which apps start when the phone is turned on? Mine always has a lot of stuff running that I don't use (e.g. Corporate Calendar and Voice Dialing) and I would like to keep these apps from starting at all. Even when I kill them with the task killer they automatically open back up at some point. I'm just concerned about battery usage.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to set the phone so that, if your phone is already turned off, it will boot/startup itself at a certain time?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, I put my phone on a little pile of clothes on my bathroom sink. I take my shower, get out and it's still sitting there. I tool around for ten minutes, and of course, after sitting there perfectly for almost 25 minutes, I go to brush my teeth with the water running and doesn't it pick that 1 minute window to slide off into the water. It was in the water for maybe half second. It was not submerged or have water run on it. It was back down in the water. I grabbed it, immediately rubbed the water off and removed the back cover and battery. Everything was dry. I thought I dodged a bullet. I out the battery back in and restarted. I came back a minute later and it was off. I tried to restart, nothing. I plugged it in, and the charge indicator did not come back on. I pulled the battery again, and blew into where the battery connects and noticed water coming out! Not a lot, but it was there. It either got in through the HDMI or USB, or, more likely though the back of the kickstand.
Stupid me thought I got it all out, put the battery back in and tried again. This time it made it to the Sprint 4G screen then died. I put the phone in a bag of uncooked rice. When I got to work, I pulled it out and after shaking the rice out of it (let me tell you how much rice got into to phone!!), I used compressed air in it. I didn't see any more water. I put it back with the rice and am now just scared to death. Not sure how long I should wait to put the battery back in and try it. So, this is the second evo I had as I exchanged the first one for screen separation issues. I noticed that the first phone I had water damage indicators on the outside under the cover. Now, I don't see them. If they were still where they used to be, I'd be in the clear since it never got wet back there. The battery indicator is fine. Just can't find the other ones now and I'm scared to death that when I tried to restart I may have permanently ruined my phone and I have no insurance.
Every time I start my phone it seems that every program in the app catalog starts up. Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid X and so does my GF. Both of us have obviously been adding apps, trying to figure things out, etc. quite a bit. She plugged hers in last night to charge and it turned off. We thought maybe because it was so warm from messing with it. Well, today it's turned off twice for no reason at all. Anyone else have this problem or have a recommendation? Everything seems ok on hers when we compare our two. Mine has yet to do this once?
View 11 Replies View RelatedWell, what happened was my screen turned blank. I could not turn off the phone. It was just blank. The buttons on the bottom of the phone will light on and off when pressing the power button. What am i suppose to do in this situation or any other situation where my Droid isnt acting right? Well, i didnt know what to do so i just took out the battery and put it back in. I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it. I hope my phone will be okay after that. So, whats the right way of going at it?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Droid X a couple of weeks ago (2.2 and Rooted). It wanted to do some auto app updates and I told it to do them all not sure if it was before or after that that I noticed a red light by the ear "piece/speaker" and the phone was on and a battery level warning came on which I thought was premature. I plugged in the power cord the light went to green and I looked over a few minutes later and it was dead. I could be a little off on what happened when but that's what happened.
It wont power on now and I've tried holding a few different buttons while powering on and still nothing. I did check the settings the other day and it was successfully backing itself up not sure how to use that backup though. I just looked over after typing this post and the Motorola "M" was on the screen but I couldn't get it to do anything so I pulled the battery and tried again to boot it and nothing.
Ok after a few deals where things seemed a little amiss with stuff happening on their own on my Moto Droid I have found a good example and wonder what other people think about this question.Not to long ago I read somewhere about confirmation that Google can go into your phone and wipe apps and make changes on the fly with push technology and no notice. How true is this and can Devs do the same thing? About a month ago a program that I used regularly after trying to start it I get a msg that the program can not be found.I went to the Market download and it was shown that it was installed but that there was an Update for it. Updated and everything was fine. (Did the Dev's for that app do a push to inactivate the app because the update was critical and had to be installed?)Now just last week I updated the Application Where and after the update when trying to run it from a home screen or from the App menu it would say program not found. I had to actually go to Market--Downloads hit Where and then when the app screen popped up with the Open and Uninstall button at the bottom use the open button to get it to run.I proceeded to uninstall the program and reinstall and still same problem.I wrote Where and told them of my problem on Friday.Yesterday Tuesday I got a response.They changed their name from Where to WHERE and it was causing problems and that I should delete any homepage icons and use the menu Icon.I then went to the menu icon hit it and the program ran. The thing is there was no updates. I did a uninstall/install on the program. tried to run the program from the menu Icon and no success Now after an email from WHERE I go to the icon on the menu screen and it works.

First and foremost at random times my 3G is turned off even though I haven't turned it off...go into the setting and it says its still on. Only way to turn it back on is to turn it off and then turn it back on? Any ideas just a problem with the phone maybe. Didn't know if anyone has encountered this problem
Second is there and application that I can use that will let me select what things will startup with a reset of the phone? Also is there an easy way to reset the phone without a battery pull? I just like to do this when Unistalling apps and installing apps...always seems faster after downloading or Unistalling after I do this.
I know about not being able to install custom roms or rooting the phone, but are you able to disable Blur (shadowblur or whatever its called) and just run stock android? Without being able to load a custom rom, being able to run stock android is pretty much a deal breaker for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem. I have my GPS turned off, yet the gps icon on the status bar is still on. What's up with that? I verified that the GPS was off in Settings. I turned it on (sucessfully) and then off again (verified) and yet the icon is still being displayed. Rather strange. I'll try a power cycle to see if that changes it.[It is gone after a power cycle. I don't know when it showed up. Perhaps after updating Google Maps tonight].
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Droid showed 100% battery charge last night when I powered it off. When I turned it on this morning it showed 70%. What gives? Is this phone running all the time, even when it appears to be powered off? I recently learned that applications running on Android can implement what is called a "partial wakelock" which prevents the CPU from going to sleep.
Apparently it was discovered earlier that the built-in messaging app on the Sprint HTC Hero did this, resulting in a battery drain issue. With this in mind, I decided to do a factory reset (removing all apps and system settings). Then I repeated my overnight, power off battery drain test with no third party apps installed. Sure enough, after 8 hours I was still at 100% charge. I have not yet reinstalled any apps so I can't identify the culprit.
My Droid X wont charge when its turned off. When I plug it in the green charge light comes on then the phone boots up and shows its charging, but if you shut the phone off while its plugged in, it wont charge. The green light stays lit but no charge in the morning. So if you boot it up, it will charge when turned on. With my DINC it was best to charge the phone when it was turned off. This is all pluged in and charging from my computer. I am getting about 12 hours on a full charge, thats about 4 more hours than I was getting from my DINC.

1) I searched the forums and found nothing about this if there is please give me a link and a mod can close this thread.
2) I had to do a battery pull to turn it back on because it wouldn't respond to the power button.
3) I don't use a task killer.
4) This has never happened to me before.
5) The battery had 51% power left.
6) I want to know if I should be worried or its something that happens often?
7) I have had my Eris since January 06 so the 30 days deal is out the window.
Is there any way I can change the startup sound for the droid separately from all the other notifications?

View 7 Replies View RelatedFrom day one, everyone in my family has noticed that when I start up my phone it automatically sends everyone covered by my family plan (4 other phones) a blank text message. I've looked for a button to uncheck this feature, but none exists (to my knowledge). Last night I mentioned it to my local service rep and they're at a loss. They've heard it happening, even amongst themselves, but don't have a solution.
Does anyone have any experience with this and have you been able to turn it off?
Is there a way to tell if u are picking up a signal?

The only app I have that turns the led blue is blink but I have it set to flash blue for incoming and missed calls, however, I didn't have any missed calls and there were no notifications in the tray.

there's a few processes that are always running, that turn themselves on, which i infrequently use. a couple examples are Voice Search and Skype, which when I ended processes for, freed up a significant amount of memory and 4 processes. I'd like to be able to set them up something akin to what windows will do, where they are on manual startup, and only start when app is called on. I still want to use the apps, just don't want background processes running constantly.
I tried to flash the Fission 2.0.2 rom earlier today. I am running the OTA Froyo update (can't remember the exact firmware off the top of my head) with the 928 Droid X Black Glass theme, so I was deodexed. I followed the instructions, I made a nandroid backup, wiped the cache and data, mounted the cache and data, installed the ROM and tried to reboot, and it poped up to the M.
I waited an hour and a half and it was still stuck like that. I pulled the battery hoping to get back into Clockwork recovery, but not it's still stuck on the M.
I just transferred my phone and there were issues, so a verizon tech had to do it remotely. I saw a screen startup right away to setup various accounts. How do I get to that screen, so I can set up facebook, etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn cm9-alpha, I have some apps that should run on startup: Smart Rotator, LBE Privacy Guard, Plug In Launcher, and probably some others. They don't.
Now, some apps start on startup: my alarm program comes to mind.
There were two problems. One is that one app, LBE Privacy Guard, refuses to start for some reason. The second problem was that I had sync turned off, so I thought other programs weren't starting. The hack/workaround for this is to use Llama to start LBE on startup, then to run the Android Intent that shows the desktop, then to kill Llama (because there's no reason to keep it running). Note that when setting up this profile, you *cannot* test it before saving it. Otherwise, llama will kill itself and the action list won't be saved.
LBE has been fixed. But I've noticed that after restoring apps from titanium backup, they don't run on startup. I think they need to be run manually once so they register their hooks with the OS. After running applications manually once, they do run when they're supposed to.
