Motorola Droid X :: How To Choose Which Apps Start On Boot

Sep 17, 2010

Is there a way to have programs not auto-start, like Quickoffice, that we would like to use from time to time and not get rid of it completely just by renaming it?

Android :: Force Apps To Start On Boot?

Dec 3, 2009

Unfortunately, I've had to uninstall several apps that I liked because they force start on boot and my Droid was becoming completely laggy because of too many apps starting on boot. I understand that some apps/widgets need to start on boot, but others its completely unnecessary. At a minimum, make an option in settings to let the user decide if we want it to start on boot up.

I just uninstalled Note Everything, Estrong File manager and Weatherbug because they were starting on boot. I love MixZing and I am kind of annoyed that it starts on boot, but its an app I "need" so I can't uninstall it. I'll probably email all these devs and ask about giving the option not to start on boot.

General :: List Apps With (Automatically Start At Boot) Permission

Aug 28, 2012

Is there a quick way to show all the apps installed on my Android device which have the "Automatically start at boot" permission?

I know there are a few "startup manager" apps that allow to modify startup behaviour, but most of them require root access and moreover they also require auto start at boot permission to work.

I'd just like a way to figure out which of my apps have that permission so I can decide which is worth keeping and which to uninstall.

Motorola Droid :: Boot Loop "catch" - Start Up?

Nov 16, 2010

A friend has been having a ton of trouble with her unrooted, stock 2.2 droid, and today it started boot looping. If she let it loop a few times eventually it would "catch" and start up, but it was a deteriorating situation.

Said friend asked me to root the phone for her and install a more stable ROM/kernel. I agreed, rooted it, and everything worked fine until I restarted it to see if the looping was fixed. It immediately started looping at the M symbol. I tried letting it loop a few times and also pulled the battery and let it sit for 15 minutes, but all this to no avail.

I've tried everything I can think of as far as software goes, including trying to restore to the backup I made, using clockwork to install LFY, and using the RSD Lite method to flash the phone. No matter what I try, it still loops at the M symbol.

All this makes me think that there's a hardware issue involved here. However, before I tell her the phone is shot, I figured I would see if anyone here had an idea.

Android :: App To Choose What Starts Up At Boot

Aug 16, 2010

I have a number of app's that seem to start and run at random.

I still want these apps on the on phone, so don't want to uninstall, just want to be able to choose when they start up - rather than them starting at random and running in background.

Some of the app's running:

Music
Footprints
Stocks
FM Radio
Juiceplotter
Fake-call-me-Pro

Is there an APP similar to AUTORUNS (which I use on my Windows PC) that lets me choose what programs run at boot?

Motorola Droid X :: No Check Box To Choose Recipient

Oct 1, 2010

So I added a "corp" email to my X. However, when i compose a new message, or reply to one, in the TO: field, there is a "+" icon, click it and it will bring up names. NOW - If you SEARCH for someone, say Mike. when it finds them all, there are no check boxes. you can only select the contact. When you Do, it drops you back to the new message, but the contact is NOT in the To: field. Its just blank. If i Scroll to Mike, and select him, I get a set of 2 emails for him, which check boxes. I select the one i want and press done. Now i get dropped back to the email, and Mike is in the to: field. WHAT am I doing wrong, that I cant Search for someone and add him to the to: field. Long press just brings up delete. Is this why BB still wins corp email?

Motorola Droid 2 :: Choose Widget Menu Options

Nov 21, 2010

when I long press on my homescreen to add a widget (say Pandora's widget) I have to scroll through a TON of crap. 5 different beautiful widget options, 7 calendar pad pro options, 6 contact widget options, 6 folder organizer widget options, etc. Most of those I know I will NEVER EVER use. How can I remove them from my "choose widget". My phone is rooted, and one app I used, pure calendar, gave me the option of which "choose widget" menu options to show. So I know it exists somewhere.

Motorola Droid :: List Of Popular ROMs And Choose One?

May 3, 2010

So, I've been reading all the posts on how to root and as a Linux power-user I'm good with all that. I've seen reference to a couple of ROMs, but no comprehensive list of them or what they do. Is there such a repository or list somewhere that would allow me to look through a list of popular ROMs and choose one?

Another question, that might pre-empt the 1st... I like the stock 2.1 DROID, the only things I really want to be able to do are to overclock and remove a couple of the stock applications that I have no desire to look at. My reading indicates that I might not even need a custom ROM to do this, is this accurate?

Motorola Droid X :: Won't Boot Past Motorola Logo Nor Boot In To Recovery

Sep 16, 2010

I tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?

Default is nice, but I'd like to tweak it just a tad, and it says it's skinnable.I just haven't figured out how.well, as usual, as soon as I posted I went back and played with it some more, and it looks like you have to configure it as an app, then install the widget. Correct?

Motorola Droid :: Won't Boot Past Cyanogen Boot Screen

Oct 30, 2010

I went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.

I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.
