HTC Incredible :: Permanently Turn Off A2dp?
Aug 28, 2010
I can't figure out how to turn off a2dp. In my car, the DInc is plugged into an FM transmitter and paired with my BT headset. The problem is the audio I'm playing comes through my headset instead of the car stereo. No problem says I. I go into the bluetooth settings for my particular headset while it's paired and uncheck the box that tells it to play audio through my headset. Problem is solved. Wrong. The setting doesn't stick.
The next time I got in my car and paired my headset, it started playing through the headset. This time I dug through the menus and made doubly sure that I had ticked the box. I backed all the way out to the home screen and the setting seemed to have stuck. Then I went all the way back into the menu and the settings again. The setting was still there and seemed to have stuck. Wrong. Turned the headset off and turned it back on again. Same thing. A2dp turned back on. How can I permanently disable this? I'm using a BlueAnt T1 if that makes any difference.

I have a question, I've been adjusting my droid eris settings to save battery time. I installed the Handcent SMS to replace the SMS default application so that it does not stay on all time, but every time I check my phone with Advanced Task Manager Killer the Handcent SMS and Skype Mobile are ALWAYS ON. What can I do to turn them off permanently and thus save battery time?

Does anyone know if the DI has/uses the A2DP Bluetooth profile? I'm looking for a good Bluetooth stereo earbud set and most say they use A2DP. I checked all the literature on the DI that I could find and don't see A2DP listed anywhere. I searched the forums and found some info regarding the Hero and Motorola Droid, but nothing on the DI. I did read where the Hero with Sense UI had some issues with 3rd party apps and A2DP, but that the native Sense UI music app worked fine. Can someone enlighten me on A2DP and the DI please?

is there a way to disable A2DP streaming audio on the HTC INC? Obviously, I would prefer to play my music thru my car stereo via AUX cable, rather then streaming via my bluetooth speaker.I already spoke with tech support for my new BlueAnt S4 and they said there is no way to disable it via the speakerphone. Hopefully, there is a way to block it on the phone directly.

I am using Gmail. When I receive an e-mail, I get the same e-mail twice one in the HTC mail box and the other in the Google mail box. I have tried to delete the HTC mail but it will not allow me. If I go to manage applications and choose HTC mail, I can choose forced stop which temporarily stops the double e-mail. It will always revert back however to receving e-mails. Is there a way to permanently stop HTC mail or delete it permanently?

We'll this is a deal breaker for me, after being pretty happy with the RUU update and the speed improvement it brought to the stock music player. When using the turn by turn navigation, every time the voice comes in the player puts itself on pause. After the instruction is over it remains paused instead of resuming. Then I have to manually hit play again to resume playback. This is a big deal while driving since I don't want to be fidgeting with my phone every couple seconds. This was not an issue with 2.1 , since as soon as the turn by turn instruction was gone the music would automatically resume.

in Virtuous Rom 3.1 the Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation voice doesn't work...instead of speaking the directions, the voice rambles on about XML versions and a random website in a slow-motion voice. I'm shocked that I can't find any information at all about this on XDA or here.Does this happen to anyone else who uses Virtuous Rom 3.1? I tried to contact RMK via XDA PM but he hasn't responded yet, sent last night. I would really like a fix for this, Google maps navigation is fantastic.

Whenever I am on a WiFi network, I keep my 3G mobile network on. Mainly for visual voicemail purposes. So, does that mean that I am wasting my battery by having it on?

It looks like A2DP Stereo Bluetooth support is a recent addition.
Would you folks that know about it expect this to work in the Evo?
I've tried pairing with my Jabra BT620s headphones, with no luck. One time I got the remote control to pause & un-pause the song, but I've never gotten the audio redirected, nor the volume control to work.
Shoud this be in 2.1? Froyo?

I'm having problems with streaming music to my car stereo. Everything connects ok but playback is very jumpy. I get a 1 or 2 second pause every 10 seconds or so. I know it's not my car stereo as my iPhone streams to it seemlessly for hours on end.

Looking to get a new BT headset. I want A2DP so I can listen to media. It's so tough to tell which headsets have A2DP, so I figured I'd post up for suggestions.BlueAnt Q1: Supposed to have some kind of Android specifics, but I couldn't find info. Also, voice control is not my thing.Samsung WEP870: Kind of interested in hearing from someone who has this one. It just might work.Wise and Blue WB130: Found it by luck. Never heard of the company, but reviews were good. Anyone have one?

I've tried about a dozen "mono" apps and have found nothing that will do what I want. I have also tried the Droid Incredible and my current phone the GS3. I have a 2011 BMW and for some reason they didn't include a2dp in their stereo system. Nothing I do will force the stereo to play music or notifications, or read out lout texts through the car speakers. The only thing that will go through is phone calls.
I've accidentally discovered something interesting. If I am on a call through Bluetooth in the car and navigating at the same time, the navigation voice will come through the cars speakers as well.So what I need is something to trick the car into thinking my phone is on a call, thus triggering the Bluetooth to transmit phone sounds through the speakers, this way I can use a text message reader, music, whatever.
So the app/hack would need to emulate whatever the phone does with Bluetooth signals when it starts a call. All sounds the phone makes should go to Bluetooth.....which it seems like its already doing while on a call.

I have a Bluetooth recevier connected to the head unit in my car. It's paired with my Droid and connects just fine manually, but it won't autoconnect when it sees the unit. My BT headset autoconnects, so I'm not really sure what's different.

Can somebody give me a straight answer on Bluetooth on the Droid and car stereo's.I've tried using the droid on a sony mex-bt3700u, a pioneer I don't remember the name of and a jvc kd-r800 on display in various stores. It will pair and work fine (Stream A Online Radio, GPS Navigation, and hands free phone conversations) except 2 things. My understanding is that the stereo should not come up as headphones. It does. The second thing is, shouldn't you be able to browse, pick, and choose (AVRCP) the phones music content in the Droid from the stereo?I can't do it on any of these stereos.I'm at my witts end.I really want to replace this beater stereo in my late model Porsche, but want to do it right the first time and not be pulling and replacing it multiple times.

So far I love my EVO, but one thing that is really driving me crazy. With my Blackberry I had grown accustomed to streaming my music from my phone to a bluetooth stereo gateway in my car and my home.My BB sounded GREAT doing this. But the EVO has a really grungy crackling sound, especially when there is loud high frequency content, such as a lot of cymbals, etc. Some songs sound better than others depending on how they were recorded, but by in large it's very annoying.Even my wife, who is nowhere nearly as picky as I am about sound quality complains about it.I've tried to put up with it, but usually I resort to plugging directly into the aux jack. What a letdown for such an otherwise advanced phone! Is anyone else experiencing this? The research I've done so far indicates the the problem is that Android is locked at a relatively low "bitpool" setting, which is ok for voice, but doesn't provide the necessary bandwidth for decent music quality. Thus far I haven't found way to adjust this.Does anyone know of a solution, or if there is a solution coming? Will this be addressed in Froyo? It just sucks to have to plug my phone in again just to get decent sound quality.

Is there any way that I can disable the A2DP Bluetooth profile on my Hero please? I do not want it to be used for one particular connection, my Bury car kit, but do not mind if it is off all the time. I used to be able to do this in WM with a little app called BTMusic - does anybody know of an equivalent in Android please? I have searched the market without success.
I know I can long press on the connection and tell it not to stream media, which switches off A2DP, but I can't make that stick. Next time they pair it is back on again and I then have to go in and manually switch it off again. A pain when all I want to do is get my sat nav speaking to me when I sit in the car!

I have a bluetooth audio A2DP streamer (a BTT005) which I am using to send bluetooth audio from my telly to something.
The original idea was to transmit this to my mobile phone (samsung galaxy S3), and use the normal headphones on the phone to listen to the telly quietly while I'm working late at night.
For some reason, I can't see any way to pair the a2dp transmitter with the galaxy s3.
There seems to be plenty about sending an audio stream out FROM the S3 to a receiver, but no info about configuring the phone to receive an audio stream IN to it.
(Obviously the other answer is to buy a bluetooth headset to receive the audio stream, but I thought it would be cool to use my phone as the headphones).

In my understand, Anroid app supports only SPP connection not HFP and A2DP. However, I want to initiate HFP and A2DP connection in Android app just like selecting Bluetooth device in Bluetooth Settings menu. I'm not sure it is possible to use a intent including BluetothDevice object, so the intent receiver can initiate HFP and A2DP connection. If you have a idea, could you let me know that?

I have been experiencing some frustrating audio stuttering or skipping while using A2DP Bluetooth stereo. After a lot of web searching and experimentation, I seem to have found a solution and thought I would pass it along just in case it may be of help to others.First, the problem. I am using a Sprint Samsung Moment Android v 1.5 phone and an Altec-Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903 bluetooth stereo headset. This combination has generally been working great so long as I am indoors or in my car. Oddly, though, as soon as I start moving around, especially outdoors -- and especially in a downtown area -- I would begin to get persistent drop outs, stuttering, skipping, etc.Research on a number of websites suggested two potential general sources for problem:
1. A2DP uses most or all of the bluetooth bandwidth and a fair amount of processor; this can create a problem of insufficient bandwidth and/or system resources. A number of sites and posts suggest various approaches based on this notion, most of which involve turning off or shutting down as many resources as possible including wifi, gps, unnecessary applications, or even restarting the phone to clear out such processes. I already do most of this just to try to keep my battery alive through the entire day. But there was one item I had not turned off and it seems to be making a significant difference: Wifi notification. (Menu --> Settings --> Wireless controls ==> Wi-Fi Settings --> Network Notification.)I have run across several theories as to why this would work. Some suggest that when you are walking outdoors (especially in an urban area), the wifi notification function encounters (moves in and out of) a lot more wifi networks and that the stuttering occurs when it is sampling or processing each of these new networks. In any event, turning this feature off seems to have made a significant difference. This seems to make a difference even if you already keep wifi turned off.
2. The other line of potential causes could be a problem with signal strength. One post suggested that bluetooth signals are stronger (or are reflected back) indoors or in a car -- but simply dissipate when you are outdoors. The suggested fix for this (as odd as it may seem) is to simply move your phone to the other side of your body. The purpose here is to avoid the bluetooth signal having to travel through your body. It turns out that Altec-Lansing actually makes this same recommendation on their support page. To my surprise, this also seems to work. The bluetooth receiver on the Backbeat headset is apparently on the left side. Being right handed, I have always preferred to carry my phone on the right. But moving the phone to my left side helped to dramatically reduce the stutters and drop outs I was experiencing with the headset.
These two steps have really helped to solve this problem for me. Using my bluetooth stereo headphones has become a real joy instead of an ongoing source of frustration. I hope this experience can be helpful to others.
