HTC EVO 4G :: Bluetooth A2DP Sound Quality Errors

Jul 18, 2010

So far I love my EVO, but one thing that is really driving me crazy. With my Blackberry I had grown accustomed to streaming my music from my phone to a bluetooth stereo gateway in my car and my home.My BB sounded GREAT doing this.But the EVO has a really grungy crackling sound, especially when there is loud high frequency content, such as a lot of cymbals, etc. Some songs sound better than others depending on how they were recorded, but by in large it's very annoying.Even my wife, who is nowhere nearly as picky as I am about sound quality complains about it.I've tried to put up with it, but usually I resort to plugging directly into the aux jack.What a letdown for such an otherwise advanced phone!Is anyone else experiencing this?The research I've done so far indicates the the problem is that Android is locked at a relatively low "bitpool" setting, which is ok for voice, but doesn't provide the necessary bandwidth for decent music quality.Thus far I haven't found way to adjust this.Does anyone know of a solution, or if there is a solution coming? Will this be addressed in Froyo?It just sucks to have to plug my phone in again just to get decent sound quality.

General :: Android 4.4 - WiFi Is Intermittent / Buffering / Dropping Connections On Nexus Devices

Jan 6, 2014

I've recently upgraded my Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 all to Android 4.4 and as soon as I upgraded my Wi-Fi has been awful.The Wi-Fi is incredibly unstable, steaming media has major buffering / intermittency issues, messages sent over instant messaging apps are sometimes instant and sometimes take 30+ seconds to send.

Skype is the most telling of the issues as it randomly loses connection and my notifications literally never come through..Router Wi-Fi Settings: I've tried Channels, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 11

I've also tried adding
Code:
gDataInactivityTimeout=200

to the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini file as found:URL>...Wi-Fi is Always On, Wi-Fi Frequency is Auto or 2.4, Wi-Fi Optimization is Off.The wireless / wifi works fine on other tablets, laptops and wireless devices just my nexus devices on 4.4

HTC EVO 4G :: Bluetooth A2DP

Jun 1, 2010

It looks like A2DP Stereo Bluetooth support is a recent addition.

Would you folks that know about it expect this to work in the Evo?

I've tried pairing with my Jabra BT620s headphones, with no luck. One time I got the remote control to pause & un-pause the song, but I've never gotten the audio redirected, nor the volume control to work.

Shoud this be in 2.1? Froyo?

HTC Incredible : Bluetooth/A2DP Profile On The DI

Apr 28, 2010

Does anyone know if the DI has/uses the A2DP Bluetooth profile? I'm looking for a good Bluetooth stereo earbud set and most say they use A2DP. I checked all the literature on the DI that I could find and don't see A2DP listed anywhere. I searched the forums and found some info regarding the Hero and Motorola Droid, but nothing on the DI. I did read where the Hero with Sense UI had some issues with 3rd party apps and A2DP, but that the native Sense UI music app worked fine. Can someone enlighten me on A2DP and the DI please?

General :: Bluetooth Hack In Car Without A2DP

Jan 15, 2013

I've tried about a dozen "mono" apps and have found nothing that will do what I want. I have also tried the Droid Incredible and my current phone the GS3. I have a 2011 BMW and for some reason they didn't include a2dp in their stereo system. Nothing I do will force the stereo to play music or notifications, or read out lout texts through the car speakers. The only thing that will go through is phone calls.

I've accidentally discovered something interesting. If I am on a call through Bluetooth in the car and navigating at the same time, the navigation voice will come through the cars speakers as well.So what I need is something to trick the car into thinking my phone is on a call, thus triggering the Bluetooth to transmit phone sounds through the speakers, this way I can use a text message reader, music, whatever.

So the app/hack would need to emulate whatever the phone does with Bluetooth signals when it starts a call. All sounds the phone makes should go to Bluetooth.....which it seems like its already doing while on a call.

HTC Hero : Disable A2DP Bluetooth Profile

Apr 4, 2010

Is there any way that I can disable the A2DP Bluetooth profile on my Hero please? I do not want it to be used for one particular connection, my Bury car kit, but do not mind if it is off all the time. I used to be able to do this in WM with a little app called BTMusic - does anybody know of an equivalent in Android please? I have searched the market without success.

I know I can long press on the connection and tell it not to stream media, which switches off A2DP, but I can't make that stick. Next time they pair it is back on again and I then have to go in and manually switch it off again. A pain when all I want to do is get my sat nav speaking to me when I sit in the car!

General :: How To Use Galaxy S3 As A2DP Bluetooth Receiver

Jun 12, 2013

I have a bluetooth audio A2DP streamer (a BTT005) which I am using to send bluetooth audio from my telly to something.

The original idea was to transmit this to my mobile phone (samsung galaxy S3), and use the normal headphones on the phone to listen to the telly quietly while I'm working late at night.

For some reason, I can't see any way to pair the a2dp transmitter with the galaxy s3.

There seems to be plenty about sending an audio stream out FROM the S3 to a receiver, but no info about configuring the phone to receive an audio stream IN to it.

(Obviously the other answer is to buy a bluetooth headset to receive the audio stream, but I thought it would be cool to use my phone as the headphones).

Media :: A2DP Bluetooth Stereo Stutter / Possible Solution

Jan 9, 2010

I have been experiencing some frustrating audio stuttering or skipping while using A2DP Bluetooth stereo. After a lot of web searching and experimentation, I seem to have found a solution and thought I would pass it along just in case it may be of help to others.First, the problem. I am using a Sprint Samsung Moment Android v 1.5 phone and an Altec-Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903 bluetooth stereo headset. This combination has generally been working great so long as I am indoors or in my car. Oddly, though, as soon as I start moving around, especially outdoors -- and especially in a downtown area -- I would begin to get persistent drop outs, stuttering, skipping, etc.Research on a number of websites suggested two potential general sources for problem:

1. A2DP uses most or all of the bluetooth bandwidth and a fair amount of processor; this can create a problem of insufficient bandwidth and/or system resources. A number of sites and posts suggest various approaches based on this notion, most of which involve turning off or shutting down as many resources as possible including wifi, gps, unnecessary applications, or even restarting the phone to clear out such processes. I already do most of this just to try to keep my battery alive through the entire day. But there was one item I had not turned off and it seems to be making a significant difference: Wifi notification. (Menu --> Settings --> Wireless controls ==> Wi-Fi Settings --> Network Notification.)I have run across several theories as to why this would work. Some suggest that when you are walking outdoors (especially in an urban area), the wifi notification function encounters (moves in and out of) a lot more wifi networks and that the stuttering occurs when it is sampling or processing each of these new networks. In any event, turning this feature off seems to have made a significant difference. This seems to make a difference even if you already keep wifi turned off.

2. The other line of potential causes could be a problem with signal strength. One post suggested that bluetooth signals are stronger (or are reflected back) indoors or in a car -- but simply dissipate when you are outdoors. The suggested fix for this (as odd as it may seem) is to simply move your phone to the other side of your body. The purpose here is to avoid the bluetooth signal having to travel through your body. It turns out that Altec-Lansing actually makes this same recommendation on their support page. To my surprise, this also seems to work. The bluetooth receiver on the Backbeat headset is apparently on the left side. Being right handed, I have always preferred to carry my phone on the right. But moving the phone to my left side helped to dramatically reduce the stutters and drop outs I was experiencing with the headset.

These two steps have really helped to solve this problem for me. Using my bluetooth stereo headphones has become a real joy instead of an ongoing source of frustration. I hope this experience can be helpful to others.

One thing that I really like about the phone is the ability to play music from my phone to my car stereo via Bluetooth because it has the A2DP. No wires and I can control the music ON the deck itself instead of the phone. I've updated the phone with the leaked froyo about 2 days after it was leaked. I noticed that I couldn't play music from my phone to my car stereo anymore via bluetooth. I am able to take calls fine via bluetooth while I am driving, it just won't play any music.

Android :: Bluetooth.a2dp.intent.action.SINK STATE CHANGED

Jan 10, 2010

im currently looking for the way that my app knows when the phone has being paired and connected to a bluetooth headset device.

I read something about this intent, but not on the Reference documentation of http://developer.android.com

android.bluetooth.a2dp.intent.action.SINK_STATE_CHANGED

Is this actually working, is it officially supported.

I mean, can we just register a broadcastreceiver to handle this intent , check for the EXTRA_STATE string extra to see if it equals STATE_CONNECTED and be sure that the phone is now connected with a bluetooth headset device ?

What about this BluetoothA2dpService class? There is no official documentation about this, everything i found i from code snippets of the android OS source code.

Android :: Bluetooth Concurrent Connections

Sep 14, 2010

For the buzzer round, I was thinking of writing 2 app for android (we have a few handsets), one for the quiz master and the other for the contestants.The contestants will be connected to the quiz master through bluetooth.After reading the question, the quiz-master clicks a button in his/her app, the button in the contestant apps will be enabled for X seconds. As soon as a contestant clicks his/her button, the quiz master's app will flash the name of that contestant.Is it even possible to have multiple connections and accept concurrent (or multiplexed) messages from them in bluetooth (something similar to select() in unix/c)?If possible, where should I look for any examples? What kind of problems will I face trying to develop this (I know reliability is an issue here) and how to avoid them?

General :: Application That Manage Bluetooth Connections?

Mar 18, 2014

any application that manages your bluetooth connections?

Here's what I'm talking about, I have bluetooth headphones, several speakers and my car that all are connected to my phone and I'm having several small issues.

- As soon as I turn on bluetooth it tries to automatically tries to connect to these certain speakers, I don't want that and don't know how to stop it.

- If I'm in my car, my phone connected to my car for calls and I'm listening to music through the headphone jack but it will automatically connect to a set of bluetooth speakers in my home when get home and pull into the driveway. So music will play through those speakers instead of my headphone jack. I obviously don't want that either.

-Titanium Backup never restores my bluetooth connection either so if there is an application that can save those too that would be useful.

Android :: Make Android Phone Call Audio Go Through A2DP Bluetooth Connection

Nov 3, 2010

I have a sprint anycom bluetooth reciever connected to my car stereo. I think it only supports the A2DP bluetooth profile (no hfp).Right now the music plays through the car stereo just fine but when I get a phone call it does not. Ideally I would like to have the phone call audio go through the stero and use the phone's microphone as if it were on speakerphone. Is this possible?My phone is a g1 running the latest experimental release of cyanogenmod rom.I would love a built in solution but I think the ability to do that is so non standard it wouldn't exist. An existing marketplace app with the ability would be great, too. I have not done any android development but I am a java developer, so a pointer on how to do it programmatically (or that it is not possible) would be great, too.
