View 1 RepliesJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Froyo update on my N1, and initially everything was working just fine with regard to being able to see my apps in the market.Today I performed a factory reset to wipe the device, and after getting it set up again, I can no longer see my apps in the market.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed some apps from Android Market to my Galaxy y. I needed to reset the factory settings and all the apps in the phone was erased. I only wanted to delete the email account. I tried to go to Android Market to reinstall. But it won't get in my phone anymore even when I click on install. There is a button that says installed. I checked on "manage account" setting and none of the applications are there. From Android market, when I click on "My Library" I see all the apps that I have downloaded before.
Question: Is it not possible to reinstall these free apps again? If so how do I do it?
I have one app (Astro File Manager) that is stuck in my downloads in the Market. I uninstalled the app, and it stays there. If I click on it, it takes me to the page for AFM, and if I click on cancel download, it force closes my market. I had about 6 apps doing the same thing, but when I clicked on them and canceled the download, and re updated, they all worked fine. Astro is the only one giving my problems. Any ideas on how to stop it and just redownload?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm stuck between a rock and a hard place (from what I can tell). Story as follows: Purchased a milestone from telus and unlocked in order to my current account. Previous SIM card was old and did not recognise Wifi, no data plan when phone first arrived therefore could not account sync with Google. New SIM card fixed wifi problem, data plan now on board. Still cannot sync accounts (can't establish reliable connection with server error message). Online research reco'd pulling out sim card/sd card which did not make a difference, and other minor setting variations all of which made no difference. Looks like a factory reset will resolve the issue but I would like to back up my SMS history as my understanding is that I will lose all SMS/MMS with the reset. (Other data is already backed up no problem). The dilemma is - apps to backup SMS history are available through android market. I cannot access android market as my phone will not account sync. Is there a way to dl an app online through my computer and then manually dump it to the phone? Is there a file where SMS are stored on the phone that will be recognized when the Milestone is connected to my computer? I feel like I'm going in circles(perhaps blindly) and would appreciate any geek-insight. I do not wish to root the phone as I do not have enough knowledge in this direction.

I just did a factory reset because I have tried out bunches of programs and just wanted to start fresh, I did it all the time on all my old phones(palm and winmo) with no problem. It turns out that when you do a reset, not only do you loose all your programs but the phone has to be registered to your account. I got it back up in running, wifi works and so does making phone calls, all my contacts and e-mails are synced and I thought everything was good. I went to the market and it even shows me all the apps I had installed previously, however when I tell it to install something, it just stays stuck on the "starting download.." message...........

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there was a bulletin on not to do it if you had 2.1, but I was rooted using SS4.6. I had switched ROMs, between about three of them the past week, and didn't do a full wipe, just to be safe. But the phone was starting to get real slow, regardless of the ROM, so I just did a factory reset using Clockwork Recovery and now I don't seem to be getting 3G anymore. I can still get data, just at 1X. It'll say "3G" when idle, but once I'm browsing, it bumps down to 1X again. This couldn't possibly be what was suggested not to do for 2.1 owners, was it? Despite being on 2.2?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried both ways. Settings, privacy, reset.Home plus power button while the phone is off.(Sd card is removed by the way)On the system recovery screen it says E:can't open /cache/recovery/commandI've tried using wipe cache partition then wipe and just wipe. It still goes back to my last settings. Even my wallpaper which is of a picture of my son is on there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to factory reset without going to settings > etc.I tried to original Droid method but press the camera and volume up buttons didn't work.
View 4 Replies View Relatedsome people are saying that a factory reset can help with the lagging after the 2.2 update.. is it ok to do the factory reset with my phone being rooted??? is there any steps i should take before i do the reset?? i get that i should prolly back up the phone settings and what not which i will also have to figure out.. but lets just start with the first question... will factory resetting my phone that is rooted screw anything up?
View -1 Replies View RelatedSo I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.
I just factory reset due to all the problems i was having on 2.2. When it started up, I got a welcome to droid screen, about how to use my droid and set it up. When I got my phone the first time I never got any of this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Motorola Droid from some1 today off of craigslist and I took it to verizon to have it activated which was fine. But when verizon tried doing a reset it didn't work. All the previous guys stuff is still on it. And because of that I can't get rid of his email address so I can't access the market to get apps because I don't know his password. It seems he put a Launcher2 Mod on it and I can't get it off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Option 1 doesn't do anything except for telling me to contact a CSR. Option two gives me the music and tells me it can't activate the phone and gives me a 1800 number that does little for me at 3 in the morning.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if everyone has seen the sticky thread about factory reset killing 3g on our phones. If not, check it out.Anyone know if this is something that just started happening? Anyone who did a factory reset affected by this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had several of my users email me to tell me they had to do a factory reset on their phone for some reason or other. The problem is, they had purchased apps installed and the Android market app loses track of this information when the phone is reset. My only solution to their problem is to go into my checkout account, refund their money and ask them to repurchase my app.
Am I correct in assuming that Google decided to only check the PackageManager on the device to determine if an app was purchased or not? Is there really no other means of determining that an app was purchased? Surely this information about the purchase is kept on a server somewhere (which is why I can see the purchase information with Google Checkout) Also, since the user of a phone must login with a Google account in order to use the market, can't you just correlate the user's purchased apps with their login account and bypass the phone altogether? I'm probably missing something, but I wanted to let you know its a source of frustration to have to deal with this when I consider this issue the responsibility of the market infrastructure.
A friend is having trouble with the 2.2 OTA, he lost his phones ringing ability, I was gonna suggest a factory reset but he thinks VZW said this will cause him to lose data, like all his apps. Is this correct? If so is there a better solution to try first?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a quick search but can't find the answer. I did a factory reset and my dumb azz forgot to delete the SD card first. Does the reset wipe it also? I am going to sell my droid since I have a droid X. Sorry for a stupid question it its been posted.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOK, this isnt as stupid of a question as it sounds at first.I know how to actually do a factory reset. My question is, does anyone know where the thread is that explained all the steps in backing up your information (with certain applications) before doing a factory reset? There was a thread here that told you certain applications that will make sure your data was backed up so you can restore it all after the reset.I remember seeing on on this forum a while ago, but after searching a few times, I cant find it.I'm hoping a factory reset will help with my icon lag issue and the general sluggishness of my phone.
View 14 Replies View RelatedExactly what is deleted/defaulted? Will I lose anything on my SD card? Do you lose all of yours apps? Can paid apps be redownloaded? Do you lose root? Do you default to out-of-the-box 2.1 build?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have been having problems with my x rebooting on its own for no reason and i was wondering if doing a factory reset would fix the problem? also how do i recover all of my contacts if i were to do a factory reset on the phone?
View 12 Replies View RelatedDid a factory reset about 2 hours ago. I have about 200 apps that I had downloaded before and they are all still saying "downloading" in the market. Not a single one has downloaded. I restarted the phone twice since, but they are all still downloading.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there's anyway to backup purchased apps before doing a factory reset. I've gone a bit crazy with apps on my Droid and its slowed down quite a bit. I'd like to do a reset and restore some of my purchased apps that I still want around...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have set up the one-click root on my X, and have also licensed and installed Titanium Backup. I am now ready to remove some of the crapware on my phone. I just have this last question. After "freezing" and/or removing some of the crapware, do I need to do a Factory Reset, or, can I just do a Battery Pull?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was rooted on 2.1 and did a factory reset this morning. Now I can download 2.2 but it gets to about 30% through the installation and reboots the phone and then goes to the home screen then it says install failed. I am on my 5th try re-downloading and installing 2.2 with no luck......
