General :: Titanium Backup Crashing After Factory Reset
Dec 28, 2013I've recently done a factory reset and now Titanium Backup crashes every time I try and backup/restore an app. It used to work fine but now I've reinstalled it and copied the 'TitaniumBackup' folder (that contains the backups) to where it was, so everything is as it was pre factory reset.
The uninstalled apps show up as normal with a line through, but if I select one it hangs momentarily and I get an error (Unfortunately Titanium Backup has stopped. Report/OK). I've cleared app data and uninstalled/reinstalled TB. This also happens if I select an app that I haven't previously uninstalled, so it's not just having a problem with my backup files.

Now I am ready to reset the phone but before that I need to take full backup of my phone. There is no software / tool is being provided by the company. find a software / tool which can take full backup (contacts, msg, apps, photos, settings, etc...) and restore as well without rooting the phone?

Aug 15, 2010I'm holding out for the official 3 Mobile 2.1 upgrade, but I was surprised to find that as part of the process - when it eventually arrives! - the phone will do a factory reset. I'm pretty sure that other carriers didn't force a hard reset, but hey ho, cest la vie. Anyway, could anyone post me an idiot's guide to what I need to back up, and how I go about it? With regard to contacts everything's Gmail and there are no contacts stored on the phone.

For people who have done this before, what are some things you've overlooked for backing up your phone beforehand? I manage all of my contacts and calendar in Outlook on my PC, and I've been using AppBrain for tracking my downloaded apps so I'm not worried about that stuff. I plan on backing up my most used programs with their built in export functions. I have no problem re-doing most of my phone's settings. Is there any way to back up my custom scenes? I have a ton of shortcuts created that would be nice to keep.

Oct 8, 2010Running the OTA 2.2 and I am rooted. I use ADW with with the Sense skin. I am going to do a factory reset of my phone and want to return it to the state it is currently in including all apps, app info (like game saves, etc), contacts, text history, pictures, etc. What is the proper protocol to get my phone back to the state it is in now? I have taken screenshots of my 7 homecreens already. I do not want to lose any of my game save info (for tower raiders for instance) nor my text message history. Will TB back all that up and restore? Is it necessary to reformat the SD card also? And if so, should I make a separate backup of the SD card to my PC before reformatting it? ottom line: Does TB do a comprehensive enough backup to get my phone back to the state it is in now or are there other measures one should take before doing a factory reset.

A Verizon tech installed Backup Assistant onto my phone when he transferred my old contacts to my Incredible, and I see it running in the background all the time. Is this enough for my 'backup' when i do a factory reset? I don't see an actual app or anything. Thanks in advance for the help!

Installing apps, uninstalling apps, etc, etc. It has become a little laggy, certainly not as fast as when it first arrived. Sep 1, 2010I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place (from what I can tell). Story as follows: Purchased a milestone from telus and unlocked in order to my current account. Previous SIM card was old and did not recognise Wifi, no data plan when phone first arrived therefore could not account sync with Google. New SIM card fixed wifi problem, data plan now on board. Still cannot sync accounts (can't establish reliable connection with server error message). Online research reco'd pulling out sim card/sd card which did not make a difference, and other minor setting variations all of which made no difference. Looks like a factory reset will resolve the issue but I would like to back up my SMS history as my understanding is that I will lose all SMS/MMS with the reset. (Other data is already backed up no problem). The dilemma is - apps to backup SMS history are available through android market. I cannot access android market as my phone will not account sync. Is there a way to dl an app online through my computer and then manually dump it to the phone? Is there a file where SMS are stored on the phone that will be recognized when the Milestone is connected to my computer? I feel like I'm going in circles(perhaps blindly) and would appreciate any geek-insight. I do not wish to root the phone as I do not have enough knowledge in this direction.

May 8, 2014I'm having some problems with my Android TV box. When I try to factory reset the box, it boots with the initial setup screen as you'd expect. However when I restart the box, it returns to its pre-reset state, with all my apps and settings as they were before the reset. I have tried the following:
- Full factory reset
- Installing older firmware, deleting partition cache, then reinstalling the new firmware
Despite all this the box still boots with my previous apps/data/settings.

I also tried loading the stock RUU onto the phone but it says *MAIN VERSION IS OLDER and wouldnt accept the RUU I put on the SD card. How I can get this phone to factory reset? General :: Can't Factory Reset Tablet
May 31, 2014My current ROM does not allow me to Turn on the Debug Mode for some reason I don't know. The tablet is provided by our school so it has many restrictions like Facebook, Twitter and any other platforms that is not "trusted" by the government. The tablet is being updated like every day to patch the restrictions. I was be able to turn on the USB Debug mode but now they blocked it, too. So I decided to get tablet back to factory settings so I will be able to Turn on Debug Mode and root the tablet and remove the restrictions. I do press Power Button & Volume Up button to open up Android System Recovery. The weird thing is I only have:
-reboot system now
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
I don't have any other options like "Install from SD Cart" or whatever other tablets have. Anyway I do select 2nd option which is wipe/data factory reset option and Yes -- delete all user data option.
It says:
-Wiping data...
-Formatting /data...
.. and after a while it restart and opens up like nothing changed. Same tablet before I shut down. Neither 3nd option does work. What can I do to root it or make it to the factory reset?

May 30, 2014I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 GTP3100. today it suddenly started to restart in every few minutes.
I tried to uninstall lastly installed app, but the device restarted every time I tried to do something with it. Then i tried to reset it from the settings>>backup & Restore. but no gain. the device was as it was before.
then i tried with system recovery mode. it opened with an error message
did not match sized 'system/csc/common/system/csc/default_workplace.xml' (No data found)
despite tht I performed "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"
it said to have completed the above operation, no further error message. I rebooted the system... but no gain.. same as before.. not a single change. and the "restarting problem" was ther.

Dec 16, 2013I have a nook tablet running Cyanogenmod 7.2 that I've just sold, but when I went to try to do a factory reset it asked me for the unlock pattern, which I don't ever recall setting up. I have to send the tablet to the seller by tomorrow and I cannot do a factory reset. Is there a way for me to do a factory reset before the system loads or otherwise? I would really like to avoid having to flash the rom again (I don't even have a micro sd card at hand).

General :: Cannot Go Into Factory Reset GT-S7560M
Mar 8, 2014The phone is a GT-S7560M. I have googled how to factory reset it and was told to hold the vol up, home, and power keys. When I do this the GT-S7560M logo comes up and then it goes dark If I release the buttons when the screen flashes it starts up normally and takes me to the screen where it asks for my password. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update.His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! General :: Can't Factory Reset Samsung Galaxy S
Jan 5, 2014I was messing with my Samsung Galaxy S the other day and came across the Pattern Lock. I thought it was pretty cool so I decided to use it. So I came up with a pattern immediately and, without any thought, I accepted the design I made (It was a complicated one) and forgot what it was right after. I know at some point after failing to enter the correct pattern you get to a "Username" and "Password" box for your Gmail and/or Google account, but, Since my device runs strictly off WiFi and WiFi is turned off I can't sign in. I also tried force resetting my device but it doesn't work like all the videos on YouTube show.

1. During the Google Login screen, I can't access my notification bar, therefore, I can't turn WiFi or anything else on.
2. I tried the different variations of: Turning off device. Holding Volume up+Home Button+Power Button. The "Samsung" logo pops up, vibrates once, and the screen turns pitch black all while still holding buttons and nothing just happens to happen after. When I release the buttons, the device boots up normally but I end up back at the Google login screen.
3. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back, doesn't really affect anything.
4. I tried plugging my device into my computer, but since I'm trapped at the Google lock screen, I don't have the option of connecting "Mass Storage Device" to my computer.
5. I tried adb shell (or whatever the command is) into Command Prompt and it doesn't detect my device. I have all the drivers installed for the device but because I don't have the option of tapping "Connect Mass Storage to Computer" it doesn't sync in with my computer. It just charges my device as if it were a wall charger.
My last resort option was coming to Android Central. Otherwise I'll just go to Radioshack or various other stores and see what they can do if anything at all at least.
