HTC Incredible :: Stuck At White Screen
Aug 5, 2010I rooted my Inc with the Evo tool, and installed a ROM through ROM manager, after deciding that I did not want to keep the ROM, I tried to restore back to the stock rooted ROM I had before through the clockworkmod/nandroid options. Now the phone is stuck at the white screen that reads, "htc incredible" and none of the buttons will cause anything to happen. I was debating on doing a battery pull and restarting, but I believe I read somewhere that doing so would brick the phone.
Update: Did a battery pull and was able to boot into the HBOOT and run the nandroid recovery again, I am trying it now to see if I can get back to the original ROM.

After rerestoring the phone, the boot animation runs all the way through and the phone starts back up.
HTC Incredible :: Won't Boot - Stuck At White Screen
Sep 13, 2010Got the WSOD on a non-rooted, stock 2.2 incredible last night. Pulling the battery is the only way to turn it off. Recovery and Factory Reset from hboot manager hang at the htc white screen. Clear Storage also goes straight to the white screen. If turned off it'll charge. SD card is not corrupted. Phone was in close proximity to an iphone 3g for maybe an hour. (We'd been comparing the screens then the iphone was placed on top of the incredible while we ate dinner.) Noticed that phone was at the white screen. Battery was not warm. No signs of external damage. Either this is totally random, or the RF from the iphone managed to fry something.

Nov 25, 2010Flashed a Fresh ROM, did a wipe cache and dalvik before flashing but now I'm stuck in the white htc evo 4g screen. Tried to reflash didn't work. I've pulled out the battery and powered on while holding volume down. This is what the screen reads:

I can boot into ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 but my backup and nandroid files can't be located. Sometimes I get the Android with the exclamation point, sometimes not. PCIMG36.zip image can't be found either. I think my phone is screwed! I've searched through the forums and googled and tried out a many things but to no avail. Also, does doing all this through a Mac make a difference?

Nov 9, 2010Been creating a theme last few days. I installed it on my phone, but before doing so i was a good boy and did a nandroid backup. Then i didnt like osme of the things i changed so i restored my backup i just did now its stuck after restoring on the white htc evo screen. NOT GOOD!! I even pulled the battery and SD Card...twice.

Sep 26, 2010I rooted it last week with the unrevoked 3 method which seemed to go ok then i tried some different roms and some worked some didnt. I tried to install the r8-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd+-signed...! This rom got stuck on the white start up screen. I thought that if i cleared the sd card it would install but still the same thing then i just got the white htc screen wich i cant get off and i cant load the recovery to change anything...! Have i bricked my phone?

Nov 27, 2010I put Cognition on my phone today, and made a backup image of the stock 2.1 before putting Cognition on. I decided I want to go back to the Stock, so I clicked the "manage backups" part of Clockwork, and "recover" on the image I saved. Next, the phone rebooted, and looked like it was installing the backup image, and rebooted again. However, it will not go past the White AT&T screen. Is my only option to use Odin to give it a factory reset? Or is there an easier way for me to do this?

Mar 25, 2010I was messing around with the camera and suddenly it goes to the White Screen with the Motorola logo in the middle. Its just stuck there. I've pulled the battery for at least 30 minutes, tried holding down, up, camera, while turning the phone on, no luck. Every time I power it up its just the same white screen. It's doing nothing. Oct 25, 2010So my Dinc which I bought on launch day blew the front speaker yesterday. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a brand new Dinc out today. My question is, I have already rooted my phone and installed like 50 apps on it with tons of other crap, settings, data, etc. I have made multiple nandroid backups and titanium backups. Can I just save the backups on my SD card then get my hands on the new Dinc, root that one as well then use my backups on the SD card to just load everything on to the new phone so I don't have to go through the process of re-setting up my entire phone again?

My guess is that its for the touch screen, but is it normal to see it when its off as well? I've never owned a touch screen phone.

Jul 11, 2010My Incredible has been exhibiting some annoying problems, but the one that really irked me was the VERY pink screen when it was dimmed to a lower brightness setting. I got a very nice tier 2 rep who said he'd put me on the list for a replacement, but I would not receive it until mid august.Yesterday, my neighbor came over with a box; said that FedEx gave it to him since I was not home to sign. It was another inc! It was just the bare phone, and in the "certified replacement" packaging.No pink hue, no sound quality issues. I'm happy. I just found it strange that these things are on heavy backorder, and I somehow got one immediately.

Apr 29, 2010Went into the mall where I work this morning, there's a verizon kiosk right outside my store. Pick up an Incredible. Start driving home while playing with it. At a red light I notice a bright green pixel over an orange area of my wallpaper. Indeed it was there throughout any application I used. When I loaded up the browser and went to "about:blank" (which loads a fully white screen) I was able to see it there also.
Bummer. I live 14 miles from where I work, and where I picked up this Incredible. So I head over to another Verizon store closer to where I live. I show the agent, and he agrees and we swap it. Next phone... dust under the screen, 3 particles, right out of the box!
Once more another replacement. This time a red bright pixel around the same area (lower left quadrant of the screen) as the first phone! 4th phone into it, finally no issues.
Has anyone else gotten dead/ bright pixels in their AMOLED displays? Open your browser and enter this address in. about:blank, just like that. look hard, tell me what ya find. Took me four phones to get a good one. Hope everyone else here doesn't have to go through the same.

BTW the phone runs on Android 4.1.1 OS (MTK6577).After a week I started experiencing problems with the camera and gallery. The seller instructed me to reset factory settings. This didn't work.
Then he sent me the firmware so that I would Upgrade it. This has been done but know, after upgrading firmware, when I turn my phone on all I get is a blank white screen. Although the hardware seems to be responding to button commands, the blank white screen persists.
To Upgrade the firmware I used the Smart Phone Flash Tool.

Aug 20, 2010I rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...

Jul 18, 2010I successfully rooted yesterday. Installed wireless tether and was going to uninstall some bloatware. When I get to the ClockworkMod Recovery screen, it won't select anything. I can move up and down but when I select it with the power button, it just goes to a blank screen....like your locking the screen. When you hit the power button again, the menu comes back.

I was using the phone today and it just froze so I rebooted and it stayed on the splash screen so I rebooted to hboot and then went to recovery which wont open it just goes to splash screen. So I did the downgrade back to 1.00 radio and .77 HBOOT to try and start over and it still gets stuck on the flash screen. Please someone what do I do?

Sep 15, 2010I have clockwork recovery installed, and was running running Ruby 1.1.1 when I started having some SD card troubles. The card was getting write protected so I couldn't delete anything off of it through a file explorer on the phone, or with either of my microSD adapters. I was rebooting the phone with no card in there today and it just hung on the white HTC Incredible boot screen.
I tried going into clockwork and wiping everything and reinstalling Cyanogenmod 6, but now it just gets stuck on the cyanogenmod load screen.
Clockwork is throwing out a lot of errors about E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (file exists) and CACHE:recovery/command.
