I was following the now closed thread on the youtube player pulled from the EVO.
People posted that the advantage was you could default to HQ.
But, I'm confused. I got my dinc yesterday and when I play a youtube video in my stock player, I start out in HQ automatically.
Do I have an updated stock player or am I missing something?
I have v 1.5.20.

Whenever you click on an embedded YouTube video, it uses HTC's YouTube instead of giving the option to use the YouTube app. Is there a way to make it give the option to view the video using the YouTube app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt first I thought it looked decent since the interface was clean and the HQ videos looked good. But now the more and more I use it I realize how much it sucks. To start, you can't do ANYTHING while watching a current video without it stopping. So if you want to comment on the video, read it's info, or put your phone on sleep, the video stops playing.
Because of this it makes YouTube useless for music. YouTube is one of the best music sites out there (since almost any song is uploaded in video form), but because you can't put the phone on sleep or do something else while it's playing it's unusable. Why would I stare at an image on my screen at full brightness for 5 minutes while listening to a song? It's a battery killer and makes no sense. Also the search feature is weaker. For some reason when I search stuff on YouTube.com I get much more results than I do on the mobile app. Lastly, you can't tweak the settings to make HQ video as the default. The low-quality videos are awful and you have to go into settings each time to change it to HQ.
So uploading worked fine before Froyo, but now that I have Froyo I can't upload anything to youtube. When I try it just says "waiting for retry - 1 minute" It seems to go a couple %'s at a time if I manually select retry, but I did that all the way to 100% and it didn't post.

I would rather have it open the youtube player for the full screen high quality experience like my moto droid did.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI took a video on the DINC video camera. Tried uploading to Youtube. Got a message that its waiting for a WIFI connection to do so. Problem is that all teh WIFIs in my hood are password protected. any ideas to work around this? Maybe my settings are off? I did transfer a crappy piss poor video that I shot with a Blackberry 8330 that I put on my SD card to Youtube with no problems.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running stock 2.2 OTA on my incredible. I attempted to upload a vid to youtube via "share" in the video album and failed. At first I thought it might be the camera locking the file. So I kill the camera app. Try again, nothing. It fails. I connect to my WiFi @ home see if it helps to no avail. It keeps trying to upload for a few times and eventually fails. I had to USB them to my pc and then upload them from there.

Using the Facebook app, some music artists post videos of concert footage etc. When I click on the video to watch it, my Incredible will ask me if I want to use Internet or YouTube to watch it. Unfortunately neither works for me.
When I choose Internet, YouTube's website pops up with the video and a play button. When I click the play button it does nothing. When I choose to open it via the YouTube app, I get an error saying that it can't play the file.
Is there a way to watch embedded YouTube videos that people post on Facebook via the app?
Has any experience not being able to play anything on youtube without having to clear data and set to HQ in order to work? It works one or 2 times then brings my bad memories of the Eris back.

I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

For example, if first I type in the word transformers and then click it, it will search youtube or if I am on the android market/internet search for transformers. Next if I went to search for transformers 2, I start typing in the word "transformers" and right away the above word appears, but if I click on it, it goes right to the original search. How can I do it where if I click on it the word transformers will appear but not run youtube video/android market/web browser so I can then type in the number 2.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I view videos it takes a very long time to buffer and when it does it gets about 5 seconds worth then has to buffer more. Is there away for it to download it better instead of stopping every few seconds to buffer more. This way it can be smoother. There has to be some way to do it my storm that didnt have no where near as much memory played them better.

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm at home, my WiFi speed is typically almost 3m DOWN and 700k UP. (Lame compared to my speeds at work) While my 3G is typically about HALF of those speeds. But here's where my confusion sets in. When I watch a YouTube video with the stock YouTube app, videos buffer faster and/or play MUCH better when using 3G. I'm wondering if the 3G connection is utilizing some kind of compression that allows this?

Its only a 10 second clip.I linked my gmail and old yahoo account and its still not letting me do it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to get the input/opinions of some other people on this topic. I have a couple of big events coming up that I will be recording with my (soon to have) Evo. Now I know that Qik is gonna be huge when it comes to 2 way video calls, but my question/dilemma is to either use the native Camcorder/Video Camera app and upload them to Youtube, or to use the Qik app and have it stored on the Qik site. From what I've heard and seen, when a video is recorded/streamed to Qik, the quality that results on the Qik site is NOT nearly as good as what you're actually seeing and recording on your screen (compression, whatever, bla bla bla). However, I have seen videos on Youtube from people with EVO's where the quality is a ton better and it looks really good. So, why would anyone want to use the Qik app to take video recordings, when the end result on their website is of less quality as supposed to using the Camcorder/Video Camera app and posting it to Youtube? Is the only benefit for Qik is that people can watch your video being streamed pretty much right then and there (with only a little delay)?
