HTC EVO 4G :: How Do I Get Youtube Videos To Show Up In App?
Jun 16, 2010
I am glad flash is on the Evo but when i go to the mobile site of you tube I would much rather get the better quality through the You Tube app than the mobile htc flash player. Anyway to make it so when I get a link on face book app it wont show on the mobile htc flash player than through you tube app?

Is there anyway to get you tube videos to show up on the whole screen? Just wondering why it only shows the little video when they have this big screen to show it on.

I noticed that when I search for music videos on youtube, the official videos(which on the PC site of the youtube site are highlighted) don't search up on searches in the youtube app. Instead I'm left with a bunch of stupid fan made videos that are completely not what I'm looking for.

I've uploaded videos from my phone to youtube before most recently the past couple of weeks. I go to upload one right now and it looks normal connected to my account and everything. It says complete when its finished, but when I go to youtube the video isn't there. Tried it about 5 times and same thing every time.

Our Android app loads RSS feeds for news and blog sites and displays the stories in a webview.Whenever a story has a YouTube video, the video doesn't show up and it doesn't play (the object is there, but it's just whitespace & nothing happens when you tap it)Surely, since Google owns both Android and YouTube there's simple way to allow YouTube videos to play in a webview within Android Apps? (They work great in our iPhone app).

I want to get the input/opinions of some other people on this topic. I have a couple of big events coming up that I will be recording with my (soon to have) Evo. Now I know that Qik is gonna be huge when it comes to 2 way video calls, but my question/dilemma is to either use the native Camcorder/Video Camera app and upload them to Youtube, or to use the Qik app and have it stored on the Qik site. From what I've heard and seen, when a video is recorded/streamed to Qik, the quality that results on the Qik site is NOT nearly as good as what you're actually seeing and recording on your screen (compression, whatever, bla bla bla). However, I have seen videos on Youtube from people with EVO's where the quality is a ton better and it looks really good. So, why would anyone want to use the Qik app to take video recordings, when the end result on their website is of less quality as supposed to using the Camcorder/Video Camera app and posting it to Youtube? Is the only benefit for Qik is that people can watch your video being streamed pretty much right then and there (with only a little delay)?

As the HTC Evo 4Gs are slowly making their way into the hands of people (after the Google I/O event), it seems that 720p videos are making their way onto Youtube. I've collected a handful so that people could see what was representative of the Evo's video. I've noted whether they are indoors or outdoors since the amount of light can have a significant impact on the quality of the video.

I am writing an application to play the you tube videos using streaming. First method: I am getting the RTSP URL to the video using GData APIs. Here is the code to play the RTSP url. VideoView mVideoView = new VideoView(this); setContentView(mVideoView); mVideoView.setVideoURI(Uri.parse("rtsp://rtsp2.youtube.com/CiILENy73wIaGQkDwpjrUxOWQBMYESARFEgGUgZ2aWRlb3MM/0/0/0/video.3gp")); mVideoView.start(); But it throws error on both G1 device and emulator (Emulator has some firewall problem as per mailing list) Here is the error message ERROR/PlayerDriver(35): Command PLAYER_INIT completed with an error or info PVMFFailure, Second method: A hack way to get the path of 3gp file from http://www.youtube.com/get_video?v=<VideoID>&t=<>&<>.. After getting the file path and I can call setVideoURI and it plays fine. But it is a hack way to achieve the requirement. I have checked the Youtube App also, it also does the hack way to play the you tube url.(Checked with logcat). I have tried changing from VideoView to Media Player but no change in the error. Is there a "Clean" way to do this?

I took a video on the DINC video camera. Tried uploading to Youtube. Got a message that its waiting for a WIFI connection to do so. Problem is that all teh WIFIs in my hood are password protected. any ideas to work around this? Maybe my settings are off? I did transfer a crappy piss poor video that I shot with a Blackberry 8330 that I put on my SD card to Youtube with no problems.

I just bought my first android phone. Everything works tip top, however there's zero audio for youtube videos and also for that other program. I forget the name, GoTv is something. Anyway, no audio with either. What's going on? I've looked through settings and even through my little instruction book and there's nothing on having to turn on the sound.

I'm running stock 2.2 OTA on my incredible. I attempted to upload a vid to youtube via "share" in the video album and failed. At first I thought it might be the camera locking the file. So I kill the camera app. Try again, nothing. It fails. I connect to my WiFi @ home see if it helps to no avail. It keeps trying to upload for a few times and eventually fails. I had to USB them to my pc and then upload them from there.

I want to playback youtube videos on android. I came to know (from the below mentioned link) that adobe demostrated flash player for android, but they haven't released the code yet. Is there an alternative way to playback youtube video's on android? Is there an application that supports flash content playback on android already (though I couldn't find any on "android market" or related sites) or any development work is underway?

I couldn't get youtube videos to play with my HDTV before the update. Now I can with my Samsung HDTV!
After the update, I just tried something that I didn't see before:
1. When you connect HDMI cable in your phone, it brings the "Video out Connected" in the notification bar, before when I clicked on it, nothing happened (at least on my phone nothing happened), now that I click on it, it gives three options for your output video
Automatic
720p (1280x720)
480p (720x480)
2. It plays youtube videos.
Now, I know for a fact that the update was the reason for this.
Before, I got a "MODE NOT SUPPORTED" message and it didn't even bring the three options above, and now I can play youtube videos.

When I connect my Galaxy Nexus to my TV over HDMI, I can play YouTube videos but *only* the video shows on my TV.
I paired my phone with a Bluetooth mouse, but if I move the mouse or click (or tap the phone with my finger), the pause button and seek bar ONLY show on the phone, NOT the TV.
I would like to use the Bluetooth mouse as a remote, but obviously with no on-screen controls appearing, this is difficult.

I've had this problem ever since installed then uninstalled avast and the antitheft bit that sometimes youtube won't play videos. The app shows the videos available and I can search but when you click to play all you get is the spinning circle.
It doesn't happen often and a restart of phone always fixed it before but now that's not working.Cleared cache etc but nothings working. What can cause this and how to sort it?
Its a stock rooted gb rom and only happened when avasts hidden app didn't uninstall after getting superuser rights and I had to freeze the hidden app then uninstall it with titanium backup. It did say (avast) something about doing something to nand.

I did a search and did not come up with too much. But I was wondering if you can set up " watch in high quality " as the default setting when watching youtube videos? Had the Hero for over a week and mine is not laggy at all "swipies"and still loving it. Loads great no major issues at this time.Except always mis-spell words.

I am trying to stream videos from you tube on my emulator. As per the you tube data api documentation I only see rtsp support from youtube. When I try to use the rtsp url in Media Player, I get an error in prepare() method and the video does not play. Going through the API demos media example I came to know that emulator supports only http based progressive download. I want to know whether I can stream youtube videos using http on my android emulator. Is there any licensed youtube APIs which developers can use?

I just got the gsm hero. on a site that has embedded you tube videos, how do I play them in the you tube app? otherwise, it plays the video in the htc flash player and the video is jumpy and bad looking. BTW, menu>more>watch in HQ only shows up if your watching videos in the you tube app, it doesn't show up in the htc flash player.
