i really need a email repeat notifier. i cannot keep looking at my phone while im at work. ive found sms,mms,and missed call repeaters but nothing for my emails. i can live without the led but really need a sound to alert me.

ever since I switched from Sense to Launcherpro, the main mail icon (not gmail, the one I use for MS exchange) no longer shows me how many unread messages are there. Was that feature something that Sense did that I've lost w/ LP?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using the stock HTC e-mail program on my Droid Incredible to access my Gmail account. Up until recently, I would get a single notification for each new e-mail message that came in. Now when I get a notification that an e-mail has come in I get a follow-up notification every five minutes or so until I open my e-mail program. This started happening even though I didn't change any settings. I have been unable to find a setting either in HTC's e-mail or in Gmail to undo this. I think, but am not sure, that this started up when I upgraded to 2.3.4.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).
Is there a certain way that you have to setup yahoo email? Everytime I go to set it up says thatthe username and pw is incorrect and I know I'm putting it in right.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having SMTP connection issues with Yahoo email for months. When I send an email via my yahoo account (using the native app), it fails to send perhaps 1/3 of the time. This is not a new problem, but seems to me to be getting worse. I simply get an "Unable to send mail" error notification. Usually, a couple at sync will make it successfully send. Or it will go out sooner or later if I wait. Tonight, it's not working at all.I've checked my settings, and they are all correct. And I do not have WiFi on. And as I said, it does work sometimes. But I did notice that if I try to re-confirm my settings using the setup wizard, it returns with a "server not responding" error for the SMTP settings tonight. I hadn't thought of doing this before, so I don't know if this is the usual issue, or "just tonight".Have others experienced this issue? I'm wondering if there is something broken locally, or whether Yahoo's servers are unreliable, or Note that all other network connectivity seems fine. And I have tried deleting and re-creating this account (on the handset), which has not helped - though I haven't tried it recently.
View -1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to clear historical contacts from the Email application. I'm using yahoo, I don't have Gmail set up on this phone because yahoo is my primary email. I've sent emails to 3 wrong emails. For example JoeSmith@aol.com, JSmith@aol.com, JoeS@aol.com but really his email is JoeSmith@yahoo.com. Now everytime I go to send this person an email, all 4 emails come up, the 3 in history, and the 1 in his contact information. When I type in J in the email recipient, all 4 come up, 3 say "history" next to the line of the email. I tried to add those emails into the contact, and then delete the emails, but that doesn't work.
I've went to yahoo to see if those contacts are showing up in history and they are not, so I know the historical email history is on the phone only. I haven't found a way to remove these items in history, but it's starting to cause problems because if I don't pay attention, I am choosing one of the wrong emails. Same thing is happening when I hit reply to ALL, 1 time about 2 months ago, and now i have about 40 emails in history and I don't even know who these people are, they are not in my contacts, and the phone is holding them hostage because I sent an email once. Does anyone know of a sure way to remove these historical emails?
If you don't know what I mean, give it a try, send an email to JOE@yahoo.com, and when you get it kicked back, the next time you try to send an email and hit "J", that JOE@yahoo.com will show up every single time, without fail. I've checked all historical settings on the phone, and even removed and re-added the yahoo account, but it does no good, the historical emails still stay in history. It's getting very annoying to have 45+ emails that you dont even know show up everytime you try to email someone something. Someone must have an answer for this, I can't be the only one that has sent the wrong email to someone.
I'm a iPhone user switching over to the Incredible. Does the software allow instant push email notification with yahoo mail? I know it does for Gmail. I have Yahoo Plus ~ so that may help.Also, within the Mail application how many accounts can you have?

Whenever I get an email, I get repeat notifications (sound and vibrate) until I clear the message from the notification bar. So if I get an email right after I fall asleep, it keeps vibrating and playing my ringtone every few minutes until I wake up and clear it. It doesn't wake me up or bother me too bad...its just annoying, but my husband on the other hand is about to throw it out of the window....
...and since I FINALLY got a working EVO (hardware ver. 3), I would hate to see this. Anyone know how to fix it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the battery to do a reset last night after a lockup and today I'm getting notifications everytime I get a new email. it never used to do this and i figured it was just cause I didn't use the gmail. now I'm thinking that it just might be one of the background tasks that I was always killing. I recently switched to home++ and I didn't use the built in task killer all day. so I guess my question is, does anyone know which background task would control this so I don't kill it? also, is there a place to go in the settings to change the led color for email alerts?

Never had this problem with v2.1. Does Froyo email require Yahoo Plus or something? Hope not. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to flash something else?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen various threads about IMAP settings to use for Yahoo email, but it wasn't clear from most of the posts I read whether it was referring to free Yahoo email or a Yahoo-based account associated with home high speed internet. Some gave parameters not using SSL encryption, and I know that would not work for me, but some used very similar setup to what I currently use on my Palm Pre (which uses an IMAP server with "palm" at the beginning of the name, so I don't know if there's a "secret handshake" between the Pre and the server that disallows access via other devices).
I have AT&T DSL (swbell domain email) and am strongly considering dumping my Pre for an EVO, but IMAP access to my swbell account is a must-have. I have a gmail account, but I'm pretty well-established with the swbell account, and don't want to deal with auto-forwarding. So has anyone successfully set up IMAP access to an AT&T/Yahoo email account? I tried using an IMAP server and parameters I found here through Windows Live Mail, but I keep getting some sort of certificate error claiming my system doesn't support something the server is expecting. I have tried in the past with Thunderbird as well using the palm IMAP server, and never succeeded with that either. So I'm a little hesitant to take the plunge until I have a high level of confidence it'll work. Plus I'm waiting for the Android version of HanDBase anyway, since I use that via Classic on my Pre. I don't mind buying an email client if the standard android client doesn't support it. I may do that anyway if there are better ones out there.
Ive had my Evo for a couple of months now and everything worked fine. About 3 weeks ago, i stopped recieving email on my yahoo account. I can still send them from my phone, but not get any new ones. Gmail still works fine. I went to sprint and they played with all my settings, and did a hard reboot on my phone, still no fix.

Last Friday my Yahoo email stopped working. On that day I did:
1. I said yes to the upgrade on Friday
2. Set up and turned wi-fi on
3. Turned the location feature on
After Yahoo email stopped working I deleted the account from EVO and set up Yahoo email again. It downloaded the emails for the last two weeks but it stopped downloading messages on 7/01/10 the last "good" day before the update I accepted.
On Froyo, you have to manually format Yahoo Mail a bit differently to make it work:
imap.mail.yahoo.com
smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
This has been working for me for weeks now but suddenly it is giving me "incorrect username or password" error.
I searched the settings and couldn't find a way to make url's clickable. I'm wondering if that is the way the Yahoo Email client is intended and if so, I'm not a fan.

I don't know if I accidentally changed a preference or what but if I did, can someone help me set it back. The pop-up message I get now when I try to open a message in Yahoo! email says "complete action using..." and gives me the option to "compose" or "mail". I've tried both but "compose" starts a new mail message to verizon wireless, and clicking on "mail" takes me to a new screen asking me to "Choose a mail provider".
