I come from windows mobile and was very happy with iGo there, but they dont seem to have version working on nexus properly, yet, so i guess im looking for another company offering good enough navigation for Europe with proper support of nexus, any?

What's the best navigation for Android phones with good maps pack. I never used navigation, but I must go on the long trip so google maps is not the option.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was using Google maps and navigation for a while now, all of a sudden, the street view doesn't work any more.
I would enter directions in Google maps, and press navigate, when GPS has found me and I'm in a mode where the arrow shows which way I'm facing, double-tapping the screen doesn't enable street view any more and I don't know why.
I got Cyanogenmod 11 (the latest nightly) on my Nexus 5, and I use Nova Launcher Prime.
What I am trying to do right now is to get rid of the navigation buttons at the bottom completely (instead I use Pie Control)
So far I am using the expanded desktop mode, however, that doesn't work nearly as good as I hoped it would.
The problems are that a transparent NavBar appears quite often, when I use the keyboard they reappear and take space.
So far I tried to solve it with different launchers (but without success). I tried to use apps like ultimate dynamic NavBar or GMD auto hide softkeys. All they do is put another layer of Navigation Buttons on top of the already existing Nav Bar.
I also tried to use Full!screen, and that worked pretty nicely, but the problem was that it always also disabled the status bar (which I want to keep).
I received a new N1 after I swapped over by warranty but I don't remember is the camera flash was working on this new one before I put Desire and Cyanogenmod and on both the camera flash doesn't work, installed FlashApp and a couple of other apps that manipulates the flash but it still doesn't turns on.

For a project, I'm displaying an image with sizes 800 x 600 and I've implemented my custom scrolling (horizontal and vertical) - which is works fine. However, my problem is that it's not fast enough. If you continuously move your finger on screen for instance, scrolling is not responding fast enough. There is a lag and you need to wait (say 400-500ms) for new scrolled image to be loaded. Now below I described how I implemented scrolling and my question is that
- How can I make it faster, if possible - Is there any other better way to implement this.
My custom scrolling solution:
* I have a Main activity, SurfaceView and a thread
* In main activity, I'm using GestureDetector and override onScroll method.
* In onScroll method of activity, I'm passing values to SurfaceView's "handleScrolling" method.
* In "handleScrolling" method, I'm calculating proper values and using "newImage = Bitmap.createBitmap(myImage, starX, stopY, SCREEN_WIDTH, SCREEN_HEIGHT)"; to create a new, "scrolled" image.
* Then in thread loop, I'm drawing this "newImage" to canvas.
This phone has a great feature that i wish I had on my Pre. After searching for something in google it allows you to search for it with Sprint Navigation. Problem is that when I hit Sprint Nav it says the destination is "null" and I still have to manually type it all out which sucks for driving. In "maps" the destination address is already filled in. Is there a way to fix this or a setting needed to have the address input automatically in sprint nav?

That is odd because it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to do, especially if Google Maps already gives turn-by-turn directions. I'm guessing it might have to do with the language or pronunciation of the streets. I don't mind using it in English, though.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got back from my local VZW store. No line. I immediately downloaded Google Maps. It installed and ran fine.
Turned on Google Navigation and navigated home. GPS locked quickly, seemed accurate (within reason, maybe 25-50 feet) and gave perfect spoken turn-by turn directions. Woo hoo.
I am gonna download some things and play for a while, but my # 1 concern looks to be appeased right now.
i recently installed a rom using rom manager. I installed skyraider 3.0 rc3 with sense and everything is fine except when i use the navigation, it stays on the searching for gps or loading screen forever and doesnt work. Do u guys know what i can do to fix this without having to change the rom or unrooting? also, if i have the free version of rom manager, does it only allow me to download one rom cause when i try to download another it says download error?? also, is it easy to switch between roms or do u have to restore the phone/reboot it and then download a new rom??
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on the outskirts of Houston. I was using a Garmin that was quite reliable. I started using the Google Navigation on the Droid and was instantly hooked. I love hearing the actual street names and running it in "satellite" mode, so I can see the actual buildings and scenery. However, over time, I've seen that it gets me to about 6 out of 10 destinations perfectly. The ones it misses are usually at least pretty close, but sometimes I really have to search and sometimes find that it overshot the location by a mile or so, or that the big loop that took ten minutes to complete could have been eliminated by just turning right at "x" and left at "y"...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to get stuff like "turn left onto such and such street." Now I get "such and such street" and I have to look up to see whether the arrow is left or right. So, I checked settings. I'm on "full audio." But, I set it to instructions only, saved settings, even rebooted the phone, then reopened the app, but no change. I set it back to full audio, saved, reboot, nothing. Still not getting full prompts, the way it used to.. NOTHING changed, that I can figure out. It just stopped working properly on Friday. I'm running Fresh 1.1 rom, but I flashed that about 2 weeks ago and the navigation prompts were working fine .. until Friday.

Even though I can't use it as a phone I thought it woud be great to use he EVO as a GPS while in England. I was planning on bringing my Droid to mainly take pics/videos, listen to my music, and send some texts. Maybe make 1 or 2 emergency calls and thats about it. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just recieved my HTC Desire Z from Hong Kong and I've noticed the languages available are quite limited, especially the keyboard input which only has the Thai input option.
Is there a way I can change this or change the OS from the Asia pacific region to the Europe one?
Also, I was under the impression that the Desire Z would have the swype function. Was I mistaken as I cannot locate it?
I'm having quite a few serious problems with making my Android game work on my Nexus One phone. After 3 days of hunting down solutions in the internet and trying them out, I'm beat and have decided to ask for help.
When connecting the Nexus One for debugging, I can't get the ADB manager to recognize the device. Working with W7 and my Nexus (2.1) I was able to correctly compile and debug on the actual device. One day a automatic update came for 2.2, I updated and hadn't tried to debug anything on the device since until a few days ago.Download SDK and USB drivers. Set my USB Debugging enabled on the phone. Connect Nexus One. Windows auto-detects it as a hard drive.
I've imported my google nexus one from UK to India. Now suddenly the mic of n1 is not working properly. People at other end cannot hear me at all. When I put the phone at speaker phone then they can hear me. I did factory reset but no luck.What could be the problem? What if I want to send it to repair at google/HTC?
If I ship it with DHL/FedEX to UK. Do I need to pay import duties while sending or receiving back?
I can't get reminders to either give me an alert sound, or appear in my notifications.
Notifications are enabled in Google Now settings, sound is turned on. I confirmed that the notification was added, the card shows in the list and has the correct time, but except for one attempt it never makes a sound or adds anything to my notifications. The same goes for alarms added via Google Now.
I have this same problem on Nexus 7 (latest Android) and HTC One (4.1), both with latest version of Google Now.
This is a very important function to me for a smart phone, I don't want to deal with a fiddly UI for this sort of thing when Google's voice recognition works so well. For something so basic to not work is very frustrating, considering how well I know this works on iPhone with Siri.
