HTC Incredible :: Phone Cracked On Bottom
Sep 8, 2010
For whatever unlucky reason, I have dropped my phone THREE times today.Every time on to hard linoleum floor. The last time I did it I did a quick check over of everything and noticed a small crack on the bottom of the phone going from the back cover to the screen, right on the bottom right corner. It's not really a crack..it's like it's under the plastic Strange.I have also not had any service for the past 3 hours or longer.I get "No Service" and an x above the signal bars.Anyone in the southeast with this problem? Could it be a verizon problem or could it have been caused by me dropping my phone?

I dropped my Incredible the other day and the screen cracked and is now completely black. Luckily Verizon will replace it for me under insurance (after paying my deductible). However before I send back the old phone I want to get my old pictures and texts off it. Is that possible?
The phone itself is working (lower soft keys light up, I can feel haptic feedback, etc). NOTHING appears on the screen however. When I plug my USB cable in, I get a sound on my PC indicating a USB device is plugged in, but since I can't see the phone screen, I can't mount the device via the notifications menu.

My phone took a tumble down the stairs and screen cracked in a lot of places, but still usable.Should i backup all my apps using astro ? Also, all my contacts are phone contacts, not gmail contacts, will HTC sync application help me backup my contacts and restore them? I haven't replaced an HTC phone yet so please forgive my innocence. I'm a converted BB user and now never going back to anything but Droid. Also, will i be receiving LCD screen instead AMOLED screen? Is that the rumor ?I do have insurance, i'm sure it will cost me more than 50 bucks to replace it. Prob 100$ right?

Today I noticed a crack In the glass extending from the left side of the optical track button to just under the home key. Phone was never dropped and always kept in the bodyglove case! Have no idea how I got there and verizon wants me to file a claim and won't warranty it !It appears to be a stress crack from where the hole is in the glass to allow the optical button to be Installed.

I was going to get my son from the bus stop and dropped my phone about 2 ft on to the driveway. The Screen is completely shattered. The phone still works but I'm kinda screwed at the moment. I got Wirelesszone insurance and left asurion cause they told me it was cheaper, covers water dmg etc.. They didn't tell me is there is 30 day waiting period and i got the phone may 5th. I been looking online to see if i can find a new glasstop and replace it myself but i only found 1 on ebay for $125 and takes 2 weeks to arrive from China. I can wait until my 30 day waiting period and make a claim and pay $75 deductible, but I really don't want to have a shattered screen for 2 more weeks.

I tripped walking down the street with my friends today beyond skinning and cutting up my arms and knee's and getting road rash the fall also took a nasty toll on my incredible. It cracked throughout the screen and it is slowly turning a greenish tint color around the cracks and throughout the screen. It is becoming completely unusable. I got my original droid incredible back in may and I just received a like new replacement a week ago. I do NOT have insurance. What are my options here? I have also invested over $170 into this phone through cases, extended battery and micro SD card.

I cracked the screen on my incredible and hope to be getting a replacement soon. Is there a way that I can take a backup of the phone without seeing the screen? I can see some parts of the screen, but not all.

So my screen is freakin wrecked. I dropped it from about 2 feet into a pile of leaves. I picked it up and dusted it off and didn't see any problems. I took it in side and set it on the table and came back in 10 minutes and had a crack running about 2.5" diagonally across the screen and a little one in the corner. After about an hour another one showed up running horizontally across the screen.
I find it hard to believe that the fall it took would cause the glass to shatter like it did. I think it might have been the temp difference of bringing it inside.....>90 to ~68. Should I contact VZW or HTC first? Any recommendations on 3rd party repairs?

My Incredible fell out of my pocket when I was getting out of my car and it cracked. The touchscreen on the Incredible still works, but the glass/LCD (or digitizer) is cracked. I don't have the insurance and since it's been a few months, I can't add it.
1) How much will Verizon charge to replace the glass/LCD (or digitizer) or provide a replacement phone?
2) What is the turn around time to get it fixed?

I gave my son a Samsung Moment for Christmas and before the day was though he dropped it and cracked the screen? The phone works fine. What is the best way for me to get this screen fixed. Just call Sprint or take it back to Best Buy. Any idea what the cost is for that kind of a repair?

In the midst of this crappy day, I dropped my Hero and cracked the outer screen. Where can I buy a new casing to replace the one I just broke? I've searched around but have found virtually no places that sell a basic faceplate.

I dropped my droid for the last time. The screen finally cracked. I can get a new droid (like new) that is backodered or get the droid 2. Was wondering what crackdowns think and should I push to get droid x. Am leaning towards droid 2.

My screen fell on a hard concrete floor and cracked, but i felt lucky because i thought its just the bottom 1/10th part of the phone broke.. Its a Nexus 4 I cant press the Back, Home, and the switch app soft buttons and also i cant press probably a few other pixels (I cant type SMS because i cant click on the bottom row and so keyboard wont appear).I think there should be some setting somewhere to fool around android to say that my screen size = 9/10th of the current screen size (the bottom 1/10th of the screen should be blank.) If there is any such app or any setting in any custom ROM. Tried google, cant seem to find the proper keywords.

So I just sent back my old phone back last week because the bottom LED suddenly stopped working. I had been switching back and forth between ROMs but the LED still didn't work even after resetting the phone back to factory defaults so I figured it had to be a hardware issue. I called up Verizon, explained to them that my one of my LEDs just stopped working and they shipped me out a new phone. I have been using my new phone for about a week and today I noticed that once again the bottom flash LED was not lighting up. I did a bump charge yesterday and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it. I did notice when experimenting with the LEDs in the past that the LEDs will work differently depending on the battery level. For example if your battery is low (maybe 25%) only the top LED will light. If your battery is really load (maybe 10%) none of the LEDs will light up.
I would imagine this is by design to keep you from killing your battery when taking photos. My questions is, does anyone know anything about what the relationship between the battery level and the flash LEDs? Is it possible that by doing a bump charge or by swapping back and forth between ROMs that I could some how screwed up the mechanism in the phone that measures the battery level of the phone and adjusts the LEDs accordingly? Also I have been using the Incredilight app in order to allow me to use my LEDs as a flash light when coming to bed late at night. Not sure if that has anything to do with the issue but I thought it was worth mentioning. My phone is currently running the Stock ROM rooted (unrevoked3) with the original radio and s-on. Previously had been playing with CynogenMOD roms using ROM Manager.

Is there a way to have a different look for the bottom bar?
I use the up arrow for accessing all apps, but then the phone button is huge, and the + button is completely pointless.
I know you can do this using LP and others, but I want to keep sense. Is this possible?

I don't know how the hell this happened. There was absolutely no chance that this could have happened, but it did. The scratch is on the screen towards the bottom left and is deep enough that if you scratch your nail over it, you hear the concavity.
I don't believe this. I'm not able to call customer service at the moment, but I think I can get them to replace the phone. Honestly, I was so careful with it! I don't know what happened! I needed to vent. Scratches can still happen everyone.

Don't take this the wrong way. I love my EVO. Best phone I have ever had, but I now have the problem that it seems a ton of people have. In the dark you can see light coming out of my phone on the bottom underneath my search & home buttons. Nothing major but its there enough I noticed it while in bed. So my question. What do I do now ? Advice ? I am 18 years old and just signed my 2 year contract with Sprint. Thank god I didn't have to put a deposit down. But what should I do ?

So despite my gut feeling I took off the film behind the screen as the other thread indicated. Now my phone slides smoother but when it is closed and using it in portrait view, the bottom and top left of the phone makes a tapping noise everytime I press there. It's really annoying specially when I'm typing something or going back and I keep hearing tap tap silent silent silent tap tap tap.As I took a closer look, it seems like the legs on the left side on the back of the screen don't quite reach the keyboard base, therefore creating a gap and tapping the keyboard base whenever i press there.Has this happened to yours too? If so, do you have the film in the back or have you taken it off?

The buttons at the bottom of the phone (not the hard-press buttons, but the lower row of touch-screen buttons -- dialer, open app list, and contacts), are non-responsive.
Everything else seems to be working okay. Tried powering off/up, also tried battery pull, still the same.
I'm close to opting for "restore factory settings", but I've spent some time customizing, and that's really a last resort.

WHY does the screen not extend all the way to the bottom of the phone? or WHY did they make the bottom of the phone extend past the screen? It just looks dumb. It actually amazes me how engineers designed this and thought "Yes, this is a good idea" or "Yes this looks good"..
