I recently found a scratch under the bottom bezel of my desire! and that's only after one week! Do you think the paint would continue to peel off from there if I continue using my desire without and 'protection' for the front?

I don't know how the hell this happened. There was absolutely no chance that this could have happened, but it did. The scratch is on the screen towards the bottom left and is deep enough that if you scratch your nail over it, you hear the concavity.
I don't believe this. I'm not able to call customer service at the moment, but I think I can get them to replace the phone. Honestly, I was so careful with it! I don't know what happened! I needed to vent. Scratches can still happen everyone.
I recently got an HTC Desire. I noticed a hairline scratch on the screen and I buffed it out with toothpaste and flannel. Something I've noticed is that fingerprints and oil get caught a lot easier in the area I buffed the scratch out in? Did I like wash some fingerprint coating or something? I washed the screen already but problem still persists.

My first scratch comes from me reaching for the phone in my shirt pocket and my fingernail just scratching the top of the phone. I hadn't the money or time to get a case yet, but I will soon. It's really great and I love it but I have all kinds of crazy stuff going on, triple contacts, facebook contacts, my gmail account contacts, my business google apps contacts, just things seem kinda out of control since it's my first Android phone. So I'm thinking about just starting with a clean slate, now that I know a lot more about what the phone can do, which calendars to you, which sms program, other apps that are must-haves. Is this a good idea? Will it do anything to my SD card, which has all of my apps backed up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe iPhone uses some type of hardened glass that is very resistant to scratching. Other people (not me) have tried to scratch it with keys and it just won't do it.
Meanwhile I have an HTC G1 with glass that easily scratches and easily breaks. Its hard to break the glass on the iPhone.
What does HTC use for these Nexus One like phones? (Nexus One, Desire, Incredible, etc). Are they likewise using hardened glass?
If they use hardened glass, chances are you won't have any use for a screen protector.
I was wondering whether the galaxy needs a scratch guard? I haven't yet taken off the samsung screen film yet (lol). I have an ipod touch and I didnt find the need for a scratch guard or screen protective film. I also read that capacitive touch screens are made so as to have easy moving of the finger on the screen. So would a scratch guard reduce its performance? also If i didnt use one, would the screen get any scratches?
View 17 Replies View Relatedjust wonder if you all could take a quick look at your camera bezels around the lens for me. when i look at mine, in the top leftish part there is a small gap between the lens and the bezel. almost like the bezel it self is not completly round. seems like enough space for dust or foreign matter to get in. is it just mine? are all your glass flush on the bezel? just don't seem right. if i take the battery cover off, and press down on the bezel it makes it flush.. but is the bezel supposed to float like that? you think htc would just mail me a new bezel to stick on there? it only seems to be held on with glue of some sort. does any of this make sense at all?i have now put a small dent in the bezel from putting slight pressure on it with my finger nail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just come to notice a problem with my desire, which I believe to be fairly long standing.For quite a long time I've been thinking that scrolling down lists/webpages/in apps etc has been quite stuttery, the wierd thing being that if you flick the list/page/whatever and let go (ie let the momentum take it) it's a lot smoother. I noticed today that when I'm scrolling with my finger on the top half of the screen it's actually really smooth, but as soon as my finger reaches the halfway point on the screen it starts to stutter. The stuttering isn't random, it seems like there's a grid of sensitivity on the screen, so it only catches up every 5mm or so (it feels like there's about 15 points of sensitivity horizontally on the screen).To test it I first downloaded the multitouch test app (as it purely reads from the driver where the touches are being detected and displays it on the screen). It still happened. I then downloaded a free drawing app, which seems to accentuate the problem, as when my finger reaches the midpoint of the screen it stops drawing altogether!I imagine it's probably a hardware problem as it's been happening for ages (only just recognised though) and during that time I've installed a debranded rom and then updated to froyo.Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll try and get a video on youtube to show the problem at some point. Any advice of things to try or should i just call T-Mobile support?

The two on the left, SMS and Mail, are widget icons for counters and the two on the right are direct app launchers, but yesterday they stared to show out of alignment.
I've just got my HTC Desire HD phone and have spent some time setting it up and personalizing homescreens, etc.
But now that I've done that I'd like to remove the 'personalize' button from the Sense bar at the bottom of the screen.
Is this possible? I have little use for it now and would rather it was an Internet button or something similar.
Has anyone worked out if it is possible to set one of the buttons on the bottom of the Desire to bring up the lock screen rather than using the power button at the top. Only just got the phone 3 days ago but this is (sor far) the only niggle I have.

In the dark you can see light coming out of my phone on the bottom underneath my search & home buttons. Nothing major but its there enough I noticed it while in bed. So my question. What do I do now ? Advice ? I am 18 years old and just signed my 2 year contract with Sprint. Thank god I didn't have to put a deposit down. But what should I do ?

The last time I did it I did a quick check over of everything and noticed a small crack on the bottom of the phone going from the back cover to the screen, right on the bottom right corner. It's not really a crack..it's like it's under the plastic Strange.I have also not had any service for the past 3 hours or longer.I get "No Service" and an x above the signal bars.Anyone in the southeast with this problem? Could it be a verizon problem or could it have been caused by me dropping my phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo despite my gut feeling I took off the film behind the screen as the other thread indicated.Now my phone slides smoother but when it is closed and using it in portrait view, the bottom and top left of the phone makes a tapping noise everytime I press there. It's really annoying specially when I'm typing something or going back and I keep hearing tap tap silent silent silent tap tap tap.As I took a closer look, it seems like the legs on the left side on the back of the screen don't quite reach the keyboard base, therefore creating a gap and tapping the keyboard base whenever i press there.Has this happened to yours too? If so, do you have the film in the back or have you taken it off?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe buttons at the bottom of the phone (not the hard-press buttons, but the lower row of touch-screen buttons -- dialer, open app list, and contacts), are non-responsive.
Everything else seems to be working okay. Tried powering off/up, also tried battery pull, still the same.
I'm close to opting for "restore factory settings", but I've spent some time customizing, and that's really a last resort.
WHY does the screen not extend all the way to the bottom of the phone? or WHY did they make the bottom of the phone extend past the screen?It just looks dumb. It actually amazes me how engineers designed this and thought "Yes, this is a good idea" or "Yes this looks good"..
