For some reason if I try to input a word into the swype dictionary specifically 'haha' it freezes for a second and the keyboard disappears. Why this would happen?

I am on a non rooted droid incredible. I have the newest version of the swype beta, and I noticed everytime I reboot my phone and I try to write something in swype the keyboard will just flash or something and it wont put in what I tried to write, and it will do this until I change my default input method back to the HTC keyboard and back to swype.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know that to delete words I've manually input into Swype is simply to highlight, hit the swype button and delete, but what about words that come in the Swype dictionary? For instance, I often mistakenly put in the word "Urea" when I want to say, "Yea." I don't see myself every needing the word "Urea," so I want to delete it from the Swype dictionary, but I can't seem to figure it out because it's not a word I made Swype learn, it's a word that came with Swype. Any way to fix this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my HTC incredible yesterday from my preorder. I have problem to enable other keyboard such as Swype or others like Chinese input from google. I went to settings-keyboard & language and checked these keyboards, but when I typed text, only the default HTC touch input keyboard popped out, I did not find any key to switch. I did not find a way to disable the touch input keyboard either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when messing around with Swype the other day I noticed that you can change the keyboard types to 'QWERTY' 'Phone Keypad' and 'Compact QWERTY'.Since I suck at using Swype and I came from a Blackberry pearl with sure type. I switched my keyboard type to Compact Qwerty. The keys are much larger using 2 letters per key, which is great for people like me with big hands.Now I can type so fast on this baby it still auto corrects and everything. To change at your home screen press menu > Settings > Language & Keyword > Touch Input > Keyboard Types.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am at a little over a day with my first smartphone, the Incredible.I'm mostly impressed, but this keyboard issue is really bugging me. Basically, here's what happens: I go to compose a message, I turn the device to landscape mode, and when I press the W key, it does not input regardless of where I push relative to the key. On rare occasions, it will work, but I can't think of anything that I might have done to fix the problem.I tried to sleep/resume, power off/on, remove/replace battery, and calibrate the text input, but there seems to not be any resolution.Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone figure it out? I'd hate to exchange the phone for this one thing, but you don't realize how often you need the W until it won't function!

I got my incredible last month and after playing with their phones I concluded my keyboard friggen sucks... the LAG is incredibly annoying. It takes me minutes of slaving over the keyboard to type out texts or emails. When I press a key theres a delay in it appearing in the input. If I even try to speed text everything is a jumbled mess. The portrait keyboard is even worse than the regular one. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm running Swiftkey (the problem remains on the stock input method too), and only a few apps like mail and weather. What the hell could be causing keyboard to lag so much?

This is not the keyboard that the keys turn blue when you press them, the entire keyboard is blue. Thanks to Sneakyfreak for making this and allowing me to share it.You have to uninstall any previous keyboards you are running on swype then install this apk to have it work.

If this is a repost, sorry, please give me a link to a solution.The problem seems to go away when I shut off the screen and then turn it back on again. However, I sometimes have to do this three times in order to type a single sentence text. I did a hard reset earlier today and it was fine for a few hours. It seemed to come back after I installed some of the apps I had before it was reset. I've read that there was an issue with the earlier Evos about the screen not being grounded, but this seems more of a software issue to me. Anyone know what I can do?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and have been using swype for over a week now. Last night I switched back to the standard keyboard for something and then tried to switch back to swype. Now it doesn't work. When I go to the keyboard, it's just still the standard keyboard. Any thoughts?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how Swype updates its dictionary? I know it pulls words from my contacts list, but does it get them from any other source? There are certain words that constantly show up in Swype, even though I have deleted them countless times. "i'd" is a big one. I would never type the word "I" and leave it uncapitalized, and, yet, it somehow keeps reappearing in the dictionary. Certain letter combinations like "nt," "ou," and others continue to show up, even after I've deleted them. That's what has me thinking it's pulling words from something else on the phone. Is there any way to make it stop doing that?

When I first got my phone and it didn't have these words it worked flawlessly I've tried looking of ways to reset the dictionary as it was but no luck.Does anybody know?

I've found the latinIME algorithm, which is all good.
However i'm having major difficulty working out how to load the dictionary in the first place.
I've had a good look round the net, and found various suggestions, but no definitive answers, and i cant seem to get any of them to work.
If anyone has any suggestions on how best to do it, or even better some sample code, that would be brilliant.
So i had it working, then i turned it off to go back to normal keyboard. but now i want to go back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Huawei Honor U8860, which is rooted and running Miui 3.1.11. I experience an annoying problem with the keyboard. Here is what happens.
Any time I am entering text, whether i'm texting, facebooking, emailing, navigating, googling, etc, the standard android keyboard disappears while i'm typing. It's very random and not consistent. Sometimes I can type normal and sometimes only 10secs before it happens. Then I'll have to wait to get the keyboard reappear. After the keyboard reappears it may stay up for 10 sec before it disappear again.
I have tried installing Touchpal Keyboard. It works fine in the beginning, but after a while the problem come back and the keyboard disappears.
I have a HTC Legend and I experience problems accessing the keyboard during a call.
The screen goes black as soon as the call is connected and the keyboard only appears very briefly when i press the on/off button (first I have to unlock) and then disappears again before I can enter/press a digit. Even if I press a digit it is not registered. The screen just goes black, and in most cases I have to press the on/off button again to "wake" the screen up.
I usually have a bluetooth unit connected and find this problem very annoying since it is almost impossible to use services that require the user to enter digits.
1) Does anybody have a similar experience?
2) Is there a setting that I have not found/set correctly?
3) Your solutions/experiences are most welcome.
I have a couple of Chinese made smartphones with Android 4.1 and 4.2, and Telstra (Australia) pre-paid sims. To recharge a sim, I have to call #100# then enter a selection from the resulting text menu, in this case by typing a 1. The problem is that as soon as the call connects and the text menu appears, the keyboard has gone from the screen, so I have no way of typing a 1. If I tap the keyboard icon to bring the keyboard back on screen, the call automatically disconnects. Is there a way of 'locking' the keyboard on screen? (Unfortunately my grandchildren aren't in the same town as me).

When I click on the EditText "@+id/updateStatus" of the ScrollView, the keyboard appears on the screen of the device and the ScrollView is hidden. I'd prefer to hide the ListView "@+id/myListView" at the end. Is it possible? Why that view is hidden?
