HTC Incredible :: Motorola Droid (OC) Beats Droid Incredible In Speed
Apr 28, 2010
Wow i was as shocked making the video as i am right now. Ran both of them side by side and motorola droid had a faster speed test the the incredible. equal playback of music from sd card and equal boot times. Droid running Bugless Beast v1 overclocked at 1ghz. Keep in mind the incredible not only runs Android 2.1 but Sense on top. Also keep in mind im not a Motorola Droid users defending his phone, i am a new incredible user showing hard facts with video.

So i was out the other night with a few friends and we decided to race our phones going to various web sites. We laid all three phones down in a triangle next to each other. We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. The iphone was not even close. One site took about 15 to 20 seconds longer to load on the iPhone. They were shocked at how fast the incredible was. I am so glad I have this phone!

Let me preface this by saying that I just unrooted my phone and downgraded from Froyo, so I'm not interesting in rooting again if that's the only solution that you have.Is there a setting to adjust the speed at which the cursor (in text boxes, emails, sms, etc) scrolls through each letter? It seems the fast I move my finger across it, the slower it moves, but the slower I move my finger the faster in moves. Is there a setting I can adjust? I compare this to choosing how fast the cursor on your PC moves when you move your mouse.

So I spent the last hour or more in my backyard in 107 degrees taking pictures of flowers at stock settings with both phones. NOT an easy task I will tell you that. My back hurts, but besides that... I did my best to show the best quality of BOTH cameras, because they are both great. I realize that not everyone will agree with me, or will think I messed with something in my pictures. But these are all completely stock settings, not messed with at all. I only touched the flash on/off button. My decision is I like the X camera better, it is easier to focus, and much snappier. Plus designated camera button! I found on the Incredible while the pictures look great on the phone itself and in gallery, that as soon as they were uploaded the colours looked washed out and not as great. I know this is due to the AMOLED screen. But both overall great. My decision is the X though.

I sold my Motorola Droid and purchased an HTC incredible, I have now owned the incredible since its release day and I think it's a pretty awesome phone, that being said...My Moto Droid took better video, had a better battery life, much better speakerphone, seemed to be built better and heavier had a physical keyboard that was really needed to use emulators properly and had way way better 3g reception. HTC sense UI is very nice but defaults the phone to dead last when updating the OS (and I'm hearing some great things about Froyo) so probably won't see an update till October/November ;( ... The magnetic sensor was also a plus when docking and using the GPS ... now the bad ......... when using the Motorola Droid as a phone, callers complained that my voice was muffled, haptic feedback stopped working when then OS updated to 2.1 and the phone lacked internal memory and not nearly enough RAM but it was the 1st of its generation (in my opinion, sorry T-Mobile ) and I'm sure its shortcomings will be resolved with the next gen Moto Droid. It's supposed to have a keyboard with slightly raised keys and assumingly going to have a 1ghz processor or better .... I guess what I'm trying to say is.... If they beat or match HTC hardware specs, I think Motorola is a better phone company. This is just an opinion and I'm posting this to see what others may think .. PS. I really hate that the incredible doesn't have a native landscape mode for audio player and unless the dock activates something I'm unaware of the phone will probably also not navigate in landscape mode when placed in it ....

I really dont think so at all. I looked at some vids in you and that nexus is FAST!! I have my droid clocked at 550 firm all the time (its rooted) and it does not come close to how the nexus moves around and opens things up.I also know that one cannot compare speeds by simply opening things up. If that were true my wifes cliq is faster many times opening things up. But when you do things that need a strong proccesor theres where you will see the difference. For example, before I rooted the droid i could NOT stream tv shows (jetflicks) using wifi and a bluetooth stereo headset. the show would pause every 2-3 minutes, very annoying, and the voice would be of sync as well.
When I rooted the phone and installed an app that keeps the droid at 550 it worked PERFECTLY. No problems with sync or the show stopping every few minutes. SO, Im thinking that there cannot be no way in android world that the droid can perform at the same speed of the nexus when using apps that NEED a good fast proccesor.

So I have had my phone rooted for a while now. I started using the hydra kernels, but kingxkick kernels are faster. I didn't have the Moto droid and I'm not really sure how kernels work, only how to install them and how to use them. But the moto droid has a 500 mhz processor and has been oced to 1.2 ghz! Thats a massive improvement. My point is why have we only been able to oc by .19 ghz or mhz however you would denominate that?

A buddy at work got an Incredible and he entered email address and PW and everything was set up for him automatically, full email/contacts/calendar sync, PIN lock/wipe set up.I was looking through some of the screen shots of the Incredible Exchange support, and frankly, Exchange support on the Incredible kicks the Droid's a** in this area.Image Gallery: Verizon HTC DROID Incredible; Functions and Applications | ZDNet Photo Gallery I'm impressed. HTC must have done a ton of work in this area, assuming that the basic exchange functionality in 2.1 on the Incredible is the same that comes w/2.1 on the Droid. If that support could be ported to the Droid (either as an entire ROM, or just the exchange support sliced off) that would be amazing.

For those who don't know, USB charging is a lot slower than A/C (wall outlet) charging. This thread goes into it well.Wall A/C charge vs USB computer charge seems to have a dramatic difference in charging times. That said: anyone know a way to up the amps from a USB port? I'm especially interested for this in my car, where I have a USB port from my audio system, and would really like to charge my Incredible while I use it as a GPS.Any tips for this? I know "get a car adapter" is an easy solution, but I'd prefer avoid that if possible.

I traded my Dinc in for an X. I was getting about 2mb down and 1.8 up. Now with the X I am at .5 to .8 and less for up. This is very noticeable! Surfing the web on the X is too slow. Anyone else considering getting rid of the X for something faster? I am at about 74db signal strength and 4 bars.

So this is my second camera test for the Motorola Droid X VS the HTC Droid Incredible. First test I did completely stock, but I used flash vs no flash. This one I am using all stock, not touching flash, I am using still objects. No variants what so ever.
I tried my best... once again Incredible was not agreeing with focusing properly. For small objects I tried many times, it would not budge. For large objects it did great though.
The X was superior because it would focus on small objects with ease and I would only have to snap ONE picture.
The Incredible did better in one area, the computer screen shot. I only had to snap one picture of the screen, where as needed to do 2 - 3 to get a good shot of it on the X.
I noticed the colours on the Incredible are warmer, where as the the X colours were a little cooler. IMO.
So still, my vote is with the X.
The Incredible does have a great camera though.

I have noticed much better download speeds since updating to the most recent 2.2 leak (same as the OTA) even though i dont have the new radio. i rarely (if ever) got above 1Mbps. now i've been hovering anywhere between 1.8 and 2.0. i'm very happy about this. before, i was around 600-800k. Where is everyone else? I'm curious about how speeds are in different parts of the country, and if you have before/after results.

i just downloaded the speedtest app and i am curious if my speeds are average or sub par. my results are as follows:
down: .21mbps
up: .49mbps
ping: 189ms
i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though

I just wanted to get some thoughts on this. I have been using the Mflops people post to judge how fast a ROM is running, but I just came across something that seems to contradict what I had thought. I have been using ultimate droid at 1250mhz and was able to get about 10mflops out of it. I thought it ran pretty darn fast compared to some others I tried. I now loaded up cyanogen with Bekit Kernal 7X1300LV. The operating system and all the apps are running at incredible speeds when set to 1100mhz (slower that where I was with the ultimate droid). Now I am getting 8-9mflops but it is clearly running a lot faster. Can someone explain the relationship? Is it incorrect to judge soley on Mflops?

So i rooted and overclocked to 800.. and frankly, i dont really see a difference.
contacts/msg loads just as quick as stock. browser still has the same speed (somewhat choppy, not silkly like the iphone but still fast, im assuming it has to do w/ the way the developers coded the scrolling).
so am i missing something? went back to unrooted stock and i dont feel the phone being any slower..
so I'm just curious where you guys see the blazing difference

During past few day ran three speed tests (speedtest.net) using home WIFI connection. Couldn't believe the download speeds:
(1) 9,885 kbps
(2) 12,181 kbps
(3) 13,372 kbps
My Eris was maybe a tenth of this. Definitely worth the switch. Wonder how it compares to the competition?

Is there any reason that download speeds over my Wifi are soooo slow? I'm downloading a 150MB file from usenet and it's going to take about 20 minutes. Same file from this pc over the same Wifi takes under 2 minutes. I'm not looking for the exact same speed (though it would be awesome) but something more reasonable would be nice. Could it be the SD card is too slow in write performance? Just wondering if this is an issue with the phone, or a simple SD card upgrade.

Is anyone else having issues with shutter speed? I can't take pictures that are perfectly clear. Most of the people are clear, but usually someone is moving which leaves a big blur. Before people say it's camera shake, I know the difference between shake and shutter blur. It seems the shutter is staying open too long to allow enough light in for proper exposure.
