View 2 RepliesI traded my Dinc in for an X. I was getting about 2mb down and 1.8 up. Now with the X I am at .5 to .8 and less for up. This is very noticeable! Surfing the web on the X is too slow. Anyone else considering getting rid of the X for something faster? I am at about 74db signal strength and 4 bars.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat can I expect browsing speed wise if I update to 2.2 running froyo? This is really the only thing that bugs me about 2.1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have noticed much better download speeds since updating to the most recent 2.2 leak (same as the OTA) even though i dont have the new radio. i rarely (if ever) got above 1Mbps. now i've been hovering anywhere between 1.8 and 2.0. i'm very happy about this. before, i was around 600-800k. Where is everyone else? I'm curious about how speeds are in different parts of the country, and if you have before/after results.
View 11 Replies View Relatedi just downloaded the speedtest app and i am curious if my speeds are average or sub par. my results are as follows:
down: .21mbps
up: .49mbps
ping: 189ms
i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though
I just wanted to get some thoughts on this. I have been using the Mflops people post to judge how fast a ROM is running, but I just came across something that seems to contradict what I had thought. I have been using ultimate droid at 1250mhz and was able to get about 10mflops out of it. I thought it ran pretty darn fast compared to some others I tried. I now loaded up cyanogen with Bekit Kernal 7X1300LV. The operating system and all the apps are running at incredible speeds when set to 1100mhz (slower that where I was with the ultimate droid). Now I am getting 8-9mflops but it is clearly running a lot faster. Can someone explain the relationship? Is it incorrect to judge soley on Mflops?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i rooted and overclocked to 800.. and frankly, i dont really see a difference.
contacts/msg loads just as quick as stock. browser still has the same speed (somewhat choppy, not silkly like the iphone but still fast, im assuming it has to do w/ the way the developers coded the scrolling).
so am i missing something? went back to unrooted stock and i dont feel the phone being any slower..
so I'm just curious where you guys see the blazing difference
I just bought a wireless N router and to my disappointment the X shows a download speed of 65mbps. Is that the max speed or do I have to make some kind of adjustment?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running UD .8. When I first flashed the ROM my phone was snappy but over the weeks has started to lag. Is there a way to gain the speed back without reflashing?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI finally rooted my phone, and put froyo on with flash. works great. Now i want to overclock as well. What do you use for overclocking the cpu speed?? I've seen setcpu referenced...are there any alternatives???
Thanks!
Anybody else see that they have the speed in MPH at the top of your map. This is one feature I have been hoping they would add to Google maps for a long time. Is this a Droid X feature only?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, let me just say that I recently switched over to the Droid from my Palm Pre on Sprint, which was a huge letdown for me. I'm loving my Droid so far and I just rooted it today with Sholes 1.2 ROM. I'm not that impatient to install a 2.1 ROM on my phone, as I already like 2.0.1 enough to keep it stock.I was curious about installing some of the 2.1 apps on it, which is why I ended up installing Sholes 1.2. However, I've noticed that it seems to take quite a bit of my memory compared to stock 2.0.1. In fact, it seems to run slower in general than the stock 2.0.1. Is there any way to improve this, or should I just wait for the 2.1 OTA?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just recently got the D2 after having the D1 for a year. I loved the D1 and loving the D2 as well, except for a couple of minor issues, but one that is really bugging me is the speed of the network on the D2. I've tested with the D1 and was getting over 1Mbps frequently. I have tried in numerous locations, different parts of the city, different times of days, and keep getting very slow test results. On the status bar it reads 3G, and the tests come back at 129kbps, 102, 165. Horrible IMO. I have *228 many times, is there anything else I'm missing? Or is this a known problem? I've searched and came up with nada.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else downloaded this app. And if so what was your results using Verizon and not wifi.
My scores were:
Download- 15kbs
Upload- 45kbs
My pings average 19 to 36
I don't know if these are good or bad since I'm new to verizon so figured I would ask and compare.
WITH WIFI I GET
DL-500+
UL-100+
JUST FIGURED I'd through that in the mix also.
How are people with the X getting these high of MFLOPS and how is that guy at the top have a 1.154 MHz speed on his x? What gives...are these fake and if so, how are they tricking the system?
The best I get rooted and all, bloatware removed, Autokiller set to ultimate and I get 8.22
How do you overclock Droid (rooted)? How do you confirm or examine clock speed?
View 23 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to show your current speed while using google navigation or google maps? I see a couple of aps in the market that show your speed on the whole screen, but that is it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering how they actually reach their max speed? If you have a kernal that has 250, 600, 800, 1000, 1200. Does it start at 250 then go 600, 800, 1000, then finally hit 1200? Or does it jump to the necessary speed that your using (like start at 250 then it could go to 1000 then 1200)? Because if it has to go through each speed to get to its max, then a kernal with 5 different ones would be much better than 10 wouldn't it? I've never seen this question asked before, so does anyone know how they actually get up to their max?
Just so everyone knows I'm rooted and running overclock of 1200.. I have it set up. Just want to know how it works.
Just tried to oc to 1.3 ghz, tons of random reboots so i went down to 1.1 ghz, with the same thing. So I guess I'm stuck at 1ghz for now. Could this be the ROM I am running (smoked glass v4.0) or is 1 ghz just the max for my phone to be stable? How fast are you guys going while staying stable?
View 49 Replies View RelatedWhat regulates when and how often Gmail checks PoP accounts ?Is there any way to speed up getting email from my POP account to Gmail? It seems to take forever. View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my first smartphone and my first experience with any sort of high-speed mobile internet, so talk to me like an idiot. But my 3g speeds seem to be incredibly slow and I'm hoping there's something I can do about it. I might've just chalked it up to poor coverage in this area, but I get consistent 4 bars and I've ran SpeedTest.net and XtremeLabs Speedtest and, oddly, I'm getting very high numbers for upload speeds which seems to suggest the network is fine in this vicinity and something else is going on. WiFi speeds are perfect, very quick.
Here are the results of my most recent tests.
SpeedTest.net
Download: 100 kbps
Upload: 855 kbps
XtremeLabs
Max Download: 100.2 kbps
Upload: 223.6 kbps (Don't know about the large discrepancy here)
So is there any course of action I can take to improve the situation? I've not tested speeds at any other locations yet (just got the phone Wednesday) but the high upload speed seems to tell me that it's not just a matter of my house being a 3g dead zone. And of course, this is my first experience so maybe I'm completely wrong with all my assumptions.
I am trying to transfer some music over to my phone through the usb with mass storage selected and the transfer rate is only about 2MB/s. Does this seem about average? Just seems like 3.4GB taking 24~28 minutes is a little slow
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is another "should I root" question, and I apologize in advance. I know this is basic stuff for some of you guys, but I'm on the fence and there are still some things I don't understand about rooting (I'm not a programmer, and while I've run Linux, I've never written anything for it). So I wasn't planning to root. I have no desire to change my notification bar to black, or overly customize my OS. Plus I don't want to brick my phone. That said, at some point I will run out of RAM, and I'll want to save apps to my sd card. I also realize that within months apps may play to 1gz+ phones, and down the line I might want to OC my droid. Finally, tethering might be nice in the future.
The point is, none of these things are necessary now. However after the 2.1 update will rooting be impossible? From what I've read here root was gained by exploiting something in 2.0.1. When that is fixed is it likely root will be gained again? Or should one root now if they want root in 6 months? Are there non-root workarounds to saving apps to sd cards? What about overclocking (I assume not). And if I do root, do I have to choose bugless beast or some other ROM, or can I just stick with what I have?
Can you make speed dials on this phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI really dont think so at all. I looked at some vids in you and that nexus is FAST!! I have my droid clocked at 550 firm all the time (its rooted) and it does not come close to how the nexus moves around and opens things up.I also know that one cannot compare speeds by simply opening things up. If that were true my wifes cliq is faster many times opening things up. But when you do things that need a strong proccesor theres where you will see the difference. For example, before I rooted the droid i could NOT stream tv shows (jetflicks) using wifi and a bluetooth stereo headset. the show would pause every 2-3 minutes, very annoying, and the voice would be of sync as well.
When I rooted the phone and installed an app that keeps the droid at 550 it worked PERFECTLY. No problems with sync or the show stopping every few minutes. SO, Im thinking that there cannot be no way in android world that the droid can perform at the same speed of the nexus when using apps that NEED a good fast proccesor.
My download speeds have been roughly 512kps with full 3g reception (testing with the speed test app). I've tried *228 option 2 and the *22899 with no success. I have recently rooted but had the problem before that. That leads to my second question.I haven't called verizon yet, should I unroot before I do? If something similar has been posted im sorry, I could not find it. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
