So a question for anyone using touchdown. Does it matter which version you install? I see "Exchange for Android 2.0/2.1" and "Exchange by Touchdown". I would assume I should use the former, but there seem to be more 2.1/2.2 users on the latter.

I just received my Incredible yesterday to replace my Blackberry Storm. I cannot complete the Exchange Activesync setup because it says it cannot contact the Exchange server. I've tried numerous times: placing https:// in-front of the server name, putting <<domain>><<username>> in the username field while keeping the domain field blank, checking and unchecking the SSL box. Nothing is working.
So I downloaded Touchdown. I entered the same exact settings that I believe should have worked for the Mail app and Touchdown connects just fine. It gives you the option to connect via Activesync only, Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2003. I selected Activesync and I'm seeing all my emails, contacts and appointments.
Is there something on the server side that could be preventing me from setting up the HTC Mail app. This is a major deal breaker for me. I guess, I could use Touchdown but I'd prefer not to.
Touchdown works great with my exchange account. The only problem is it asks for password each time after my phone has slept. Anyway to get rid of the password protection? I don't mind to type it in when the program launches the first time but asking for password every 5 min is simply annoying!!

1) Is there a way to override the password requirement for Native Exchange? I'd prefer to not have to enter a p/w every time my phone locks.
2)Is anyone else having issues with Touchdown not rendering their messages properly? Mine are cut off even with the smallest font setting and I cannot side scroll to see the rest of the message. Also as I scroll down into the threaded messages the screen above goes white.
The OTA downloaded but failed to install on my X running rooted 2.1 and nextheme. No apps deleted or other mods of any kind. I removed the theme and decided to go with the leaked version rather than deal with new restrictions on the OTA. I tried installing the stock 2.2 version in rom manager and it failed. I wiped the phone and rerooted and installed bootstrap and rom manager then tried again and it failed. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I realize the manifest version Code is used to determine if the app has changed and it works fine if I bump up that number. What if the user wants to retain the stored data- say values in the shared preference or a sqlite database? How can I emulate this app-update-install scenario? Should I try hosting the new apk on a Web server, will the Package Manager take this as an update and do the needful?

After much googling, I discovered that this phone does support Android 2.2, and carriers will be rolling out updates over the air for this model phone "in the near future". Since I'm not entirely certain what our lazy carrier's definition of "near future" is, it would be nice if I could download images for particular releases and install them on my phone. Coming from the world of the iPhone, it seems that this should be something rather necessary in order to successfully develop an Android app. Yet, it doesn't seem that Google offers any Android OS updates themselves. Have I no choice but to wait for the carrier to release an update?

So is there any way to get particular version of android source code? for example the android-1.5r3 tag. Would be great if some command like "svn switch /foo/bar/1.5r3" is available.
So the other day I went to download an app out of the market. The download finished, but it seems my phone decided to auto-reboot itself in the midst of the installation. After the reboot completes, I go back to the market, reselect the app, and it's hung at "Installing..." (And when I say "hung," the market is still fully functional except that one app). I'm given no option to cancel the installation. Killing the market app then trying to go back in has no effect - same deal. Hung on install. Another reboot didn't help.
Is there any way to delete the install package and make the market forget I even tried in the first place?
It's Angry Birds (wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but the install seems to have failed in a way that any app install could have failed.
I'm trialing Touchdown, but am having difficulty configuring it for aol. The other email apps automatically configure aol. Touchdown doesn't have the same format, so I can't copy what K9 and seven use.

Good christ, what toolbox decided to have a base email program where you cannot even set up filters.... This leads to spending $20 to get an app that any Blackberry does in it's sleep....

Need to get email rules based subfolders to autosync in Eris Droid. I figured out how to manually sync, and I have also learned about Touchdown. The question is, should I buy Touchdown or do we think there will be an update soon to provide this functionality within ActiveSync on Droid?

I have touchdown on the device now and while it works fine, its relatively slow and locks up a fair amount. The fact that Roadsync was developed by DataViz made me think it might work a bit better. I don't want to go through the pain and suffering of setting it up if it isn't better.I actually wish the embedded app would work with exchange and then I wouldn't have to do any of this!
