Aug 12, 2010I have an HTC Incredible. I really like it but lately, I've received the message, "Phone storage is full, delete some files to free space." How do I do this?

View 1 RepliesSo if I do a Factory Reset on the phone it still has some of the old photos/videos I took, which leads me to believe it doesn't fully clear the device of everything, just the settings that I changed are returned to their factory defaults (duh!).I was curious if I do the Clear Storage option, which means turning off the device and holding one of the volume toggles while holding the power button - would that mean that the entire Android OS would be removed, or does it mean it does a format of the phones entire partition and re-installs Android (similar to a reformat/recovery partition on a computer)? In which case I would need to reactivate the phone doing the simple *228.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I clear the data in the "Contacts Storage" tab of "Manage Applications" will this only delete the data stored on the phone itself or will it also delete the contact on the exchange server as well? I have some contacts that are duplicates because they were put in the phone before I was able to get the exchange sync set up resulting in an entry for exchange and an entry for phone when in the "People" area.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Incredible won't mount both the internal phone storage and the SD card storage at the same time. What I mean is...when I plug my phone into my PC I only get a single popup asking to mount the phone's SD card storage, but not the internal phone storage. If I remove the SD card (or unmount the SD card using menus on the phone) and then toggle the connection type from Disk Drive, to Charge only, and then back to Disk Drive (to burp the connection), the internal phone storage will mount, but the SD card won't mount because it has been removed. When I connect my wife's incredible, my computer sees both the SD card storage and the internal storage (as expected) and gives me prompts for both. I took the SD card from the problematic phone and put it in the "good" phone and there are no issues at all (IE.. both the internal storage and SD storage mount). This of course means there is no issue with the SD card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSorry if this is a complete NOOB question, but what is the difference between the internal storage which is 6.6GB and the phone storage, which is about 750MB? How do I access the 6.6GM of storage? What am I missing here?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery week or so my Eris won't dial out. I get a long silence followed by a network busy error. I go to manage applications/dialer and clear dialer storage and it works fine...as long as I do that or reboot the phone every few days. I found this solution on another forum, but couldn't find much discussion or analysis of the problem.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any long term solutions? It's happened since I got the phone months ago and I have very few apps... almost none when it first started. Not using Google Voice. Still running 1.5.
WTF, I'm getting a warning that I'm low on space, phone storage is getting low. However, according to the SD card & Phone Storage info I can pull up on my phone, I'm only using the following:
SD card
Total space: 3.69 GB
Available space: 2.67 GB
Internal Phone Storage
Total Space 6.60 GB
Available space: 6.06 GB
Phone memory
Total space: 748 MB
Available space: 636 MB
So all in all to me it looks like I should have plenty of space.
So when I go to SD Card and Phone Storage. It lists everything all out. Under my phone memory it says Total Space: 748MB. I thought this phone had 512mb rom? Anyone else seeing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, one of the selling points of this phone is the large amount of internal storage. any ROMs out there that actually recognize my large amount of internal storage?? I would rather have 512MB like a droid and get a 16GB card with it honestly. If stock froyo wasn't slow as hell I would just use that but alas, I need my speed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my wife asked me today about a warning she got on her info bar. It said "Phone storage low" and when you press it it brings you to "Manage applications" On her Contacts Storage it was taking 89mb. Does this mean she's not linked up to google? Mine is only like 12mb and i have WAY more contacts then she does. Can anyone shed some light on this? it gives the option to Clear Contact Data but my wife would lose her mind (as we all would) if we lost all of our contacts.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the little notification that my phone storage space is getting low, but when I go into Settings > SD card & phone storage, the SD card, internal phone storage, and phone memory are all well above critical levels (they're all like 70-90% free space). What could be the issue?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Incredible. It has 8GB of internal storage and I've installed an 8GB microSD card. When I plug the thing in via USB, I have two drives that appear on Windows. One shows total capacity of 6.59GB and the other is 7.39GB. I guess my question is: I think I understand that the 7.39GB one is the microSD card. It's getting full. It appears that everything gets stored there. My question is, why do I have a 6.59GB drive available that never seems to get used? Is the purpose to manually put MP3s and such on this instead of the microSD card? With 2.2 (SkyRaider ROM), can I move apps to this internal storage?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Incredible a few days ago for the first time and installed Cyanogen mod. Everything is going well, but I do have one question. When I connect my phone to my pc, my sd card comes up but phone storage doesn't. When I click on the phone storage, it asks me to format the drive to be able to use it. If I do format, what will happen? How can I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am rooted, s off, 2.15 radio, running Froyo from Incredible_Froyo_3.21.605.1_rooted_unmodified_sign ed.zip. Everything is running fine. I can access the SD card and the phone storage without any errors. However, I have a constant notification that reads "preparing phone storage.....checking for errors....." I took out the SD card before booting, and I still have the error message. Therefore, it is not the SD card. I have searched around and cannot find a way to get rid of the message.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to force particular applications to use the built in 8GB of phone storage? For example, doubletwist automatically syncs to the SD card, ROM Manager saves backups to the SD Card, etc.I find that I have used basically none of my internal memory because nothing recognizes its there in the first place. Is there a custom ROM that allows this? I know it is supposed to be a feature of Froyo, but it seems kind of silly that it doesn't already work or that there wouldn't be a root method to make it work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having the same issue as listed below from a post on Android Central. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone has had this as well. I've edited the post to reflect my issues. Link to original thread: HTC Mail Memory Leak/Bug ("Phone Storage Getting Low") - Android Central Forums. "I have reason to believe that HTC Mail has a significant memory leak or bug which is causing all of the "Phone storage is getting low" messages. I've had the phone for 3 weeks as of this Thursday. My setup is 2 POP3 email accounts configured during the initial setup in HTC Mail. At around 110-115 megs it triggers the "phone storage low" message. The problem is that as far as I can tell, there's no way to reduce the file size of this HTC mail app once this process has started.
I've deleted every shred of email, all In-boxes, all sent, all trash all everything from every mail folder for every account - no reduction in app size. I trashed every shred of email from the system and the HTC mail app still hovered around 110megs (and the phone storage low indicators continuing). After researching the issue online and piecing 2+2 together I realized that the only solution is to wipe the phone. The issue there is that there are no guarantees that the issue wouldn't resurface again (actually it's quite likely).
Bottom line: HTC mail seems to have a very significant memory leak or bug that causes it to blow through its allocated memory at an alarming pace and there is very little that can be done to stop it once it's started. I would strongly recommend to those of you with the above issues to not use HTC mail after wiping the phone".
I connected the Incredible to my mac and did not touch the internal storage; I just created a folder on the SD card to move a ringtone over from my laptop. Now, when I load up the camera, I get a message: Phone storage is full or unavailable. Storage has been switched to SD card.
UPDATE: I just shut it down. After rebooting, it was able to read the internal phone storage. Not sure why it did that.
I updated to Froyo the other morning and now all my photos and videos are gone. When I tap into Gallery it still says I have 163 photos but only my 3 newest pics after I updated show up. My internal phone storage is currently read-only which I never noticed before. I did a test and restarted the phone and quickly went to the gallery before everything booted up. I saw all my photos but when the phone storage prepared itself it went to read-only and they all disappeared. Should I do a factory reset? I'm new to Android so I'm not a pro at this yet. I know now I should have backed up my stuff.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).
The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.
Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.
So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.

In windows(7-64bit-ultimate) I have 2 disk drive entries in device manager for android phone, but only one shows volume information (for SD Card), the other shows "no media". (I also tried this on a different windows computer with the same result)
In linux mint (& ubuntu), 2 android phone drives show under "computer" but only one mounts (SD Card).
Obviously the SD Card pops up fine, but I can't get the phone storage to mount as a drive. I can see all the phone storage under /emmc in my file manager on the phone, and it shows up in the settings menu. I do notice that when I mount as a disk drive only the SD Card gets greyed out, not the phone storage...
I've tried using USB debugging, mounting through unrevoked, etc... no luck...
I haven't been able to get rom manager to fix permissions for B5, is that a possible thing to look into???
Anyone have a similar installation that works fine?
Mods feel free to move this under ROMS or anywhere else you want...
I am becoming sick of the Incredible's stock player, mainly because of its poor shuffle mode. I have looked at apps like MixZing, Cubed, and DoubleTwist, but these all seem like they won't play music from both the sd card and internal phone storage like the stock player. Are there any players that will do this, and perhaps find album art like the others?
