HTC Droid Eris :: Screen Cracked - Unable To Use Menu Or Home Buttons And Entire Left Part Of Screen And More - Keyboard Lag
Feb 23, 2010So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

Jul 7, 2010Two things I'd like to be able to do with my incredible.First is reduce the number of homescreens. Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

Aug 27, 2010I've discovered what may be a bug in the "app2sd" feature of Android 2.2.I haven't been able to find any information about it using the usual searches.My app will create a home screen shortcut in the usual way. Inside its intent that to be launched is a few extras describing the action to take.One of the extras is a string array.Now apparently, if someone creates a shortcut with my app, then moves the app to the sdcard, Android will strip out the string array intent from the shortcut.Other extras are left intact.This of course renders the shortcut useless to the app since key data is missing.Moving the app back to the phone doesn't restore the missing data.If the app is already on the sdcard and a shortcut is then created, it's OK.But then if the app is moved back to the phone, the string array extra is stripped again.I'm just going to take a wild-ass guess and say that Android does something to an app's shortcuts when it gets moved to and from the sdcard (maybe re-constructing it?) but it's not copying the string array extras.Is there any merit to this guess?

Jul 28, 2010I can't seem to rotate properly an image on the entire screen. The problem is that when the image rotates, you can see the background in some areas. I want the image to fill the screen also when it rotates. Here is the layout.I start the animation in onResume. As I said, the image rotates but there are background areas when it does rotate. I've tried using images much bigger than the screen but still it doesn't do what I want. I don't care that outer regions of the image are not visible. I just want the rotation to fill the screen. I guess ImageView sets its width and height initially and then, when it rotates, it uses those dimensions. Is there a better way to do this?

I mean, they look like they are copies of Sense UI, so I really do not see the benefit if you are on an HTC phone. I could definitely see if for other Android devices, but I am just confused as to what the benefit is.

Mar 28, 2010Last night, I noticed there was a pink blob down in the lower left corner of the screen, it bothered me but wasnt too bad, the rest of the screen looked normal. I went to bed, and when I woke up this morning the ENTIRE screen was pink - apart from that little blob which is now black. The colours are completely ruined, red and white is now pink and it doesnt show yellow at all, the messaging icon etc. is now a dark orange. I just bought the phone on thursday so this is a major problem for me, it's not exactly cheap.
The problem is that I'm from Norway and the Nexus isnt sold here, I bought it from a guy who had bought a lot in the US and was reselling, through our version of eBay. The box was unopened and everything, so it had not been tampered with. The problem is that they maybe won't let me return it because of this, and if I want help I'd have to ship it to the US, no help to get for it here.
Android :: ScrollView Occupies Entire Screen Height?

The scrollview pushes the linear layout under it off the screen. The only way I can get this to work is if I explicitly set the scrollview height in pixels to be less than the total height of the screen, but hardcoding a height isn't going to work on different devices. How can I do this?
HTC Incredible :: Widgets Not Loading To Home Screen
Jun 12, 2010I downloaded a couple widgets from HTC this evening. They show up in the widget list but wont load to home screen. Instead when I select them I am taken to a screen with uninstall and details as choices. Usually if I tap the widgets they are placed on a home screen where they can be launched.

When I click update it tries to acquire location but can't. I think I've tried everything to get it to locate my location. I've turned it on through google settings. I've turned on GPS on my phone. If I try to add a program to my home scree, none of the apps recently installed (e.g mint.com, yelp, dictionary) show up in the list. But if I go to "All programs", they are there. Jul 22, 2010The other day when typing my haptic feedback kinda went clunk. Now I get no feedback whenever I move from one screen to another or select an icon on the home screen. I am sure that I got feedback when I pressed an icon before, I just want to make sure that it is supposed to do that.
So, can anyone confirm that they get the haptic feedback when they press an icon on the home screen?
I still get feedback from the softkeys, but it does not seem as strong, so I think by haptic motor has a problem.
HTC Incredible :: Home Screen Randomly Moves / Why Is This?
May 3, 2010Has anyone else been experiencing this. Sometimes when I click on the Home Screen button, it doesn't always go to the home screen, it might go to the screen to the right or left of it.
also sometimes when I lock the phone and then when I unlock it, it doesn't always go to the home screen. it might jump around.
Sometimes when I hit the home screen or down error right above it, the desk clock appears.
this is all very strange, just wondering what all of your thoughts are. Could it be a particular app that I downloaded.

Aug 10, 2010I don't text and actually have this feature disabled (I was receiving all kinds of spam and was told I'd either have to disable or pay for the spam texts).
Because of this, the text home screen (second from left when scrolling through the home screens) is useless to me. Is there a way to change the screen so that it's not a "text" screen? I tried adding a different widget and was told there was no space.

HTC Droid Eris :: Dropped Phone - Entire Screen Shattered
Feb 20, 2010So I got my Eris on Wednesday and dropped it today and did I mess it up. It feel from about waste level, I'm 5'8 so it wasn't that high. I even slid my foot out to stop a direct hit to the ground which was successful. However this didn't help at all. The entire screen shattered but the phone still works. I know I should have a case for it but in the 9 years of having a cell phone this is the first one I dropped one. I was planning on getting one but haven't had the time to go out and get one yet.
Anyways I though the Eris had the gorilla glass that was basically unbreakable. It doesn't seem like a fall from waste hight, slowed down by my foot, onto the linoleum floor at the food store would destroy the screen. The cracks start at the corner and spider web through the whole screen. Everything I've read about people dropping the phone said it never broke. I am wondering if the screen might actually be defective, probably not but I'm grasping at straws to avoid the insurance deductible. Good thing I have insurance on the phone.
Android : App To Get A Landscape Virtual Keyboard That Doesn't Take Up Entire Screen?
May 5, 2010Is there an app to get a landscape virtual keyboard that is shorter? The text box above the kb is strangely huge and some if not all of that space should just show the page you are entering the text into.
If it's ebuddy, it should show one line of text and let you see the last message sent to you. If it's on a web page, then omit the text box entirely, we can read what we are typing into the boxes on the page last I checked. Anyone know of anything? It's a major annoyance for me.
