Motorola Droid X :: Sync Only Facebook Contacts Who Are Also Google Contacts?
Jul 16, 2010On my Droid there was a setting to only sync Facebook data for contacts who also were Google contacts. On the X, there doesn't seem to be that option anymore. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?

Oct 18, 2012My Facebook contacts are merging with my ICS "People" address book and Google contacts. I don't want this.
I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.

Jul 17, 2010Is there a way to merge facebook and google contacts? I have quite a few numbers that I had entered before I added them on facebook, so now I have a bunch of duplicate entries. One for facebook and one with the info that I put in. I seem to remember there being a way to do this on 2.1, but I can't find it in 2.2 (KaosFroyo). Am I overlooking something really simple, or was it just not implemented this time around?

I have synced my phone with facebook and now want to transfer the email addresses and birthdays of my facebook friends to google contacts. I understand from reading posts on other forums that there are a few ways to do this, such as manually importing and exporting csv files (Sync/merge Facebook contacts with Gmail contacts - Gmail Help) or by way of a script (Import your Facebook Phonebook into your Google Contacts using Greasemonkey on Firefox), but this will require a manual update whenever I have a new facebook contact. Seeing that my phone could auto-sync with both FB and Google, is there a way to automatically transfer new FB contacts to google whenever I hit the "Sync" button on my phone?

The majority of my contacts were imported from FB because I accidentally wiped my old phone, and both Google and FB are set to sync, but I see that my contacts present on the phone were not added to Google.

I don't want to add everyone on facebook to my phone contacts list, but I'd like to be able to put some friends I have as facebook contacts into my main list and the 'add to contacts' option in the call log doesn't work the way it does for unknown numbers. The only workaround I've found is to add to favorites, but they still won't show in the main list.

Jul 20, 2012I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am a little confused on how information for contacts is organized.
I saved all my contacts info on Google, so when I added my Google account to this photo, everything downloaded and synced up. Seems okay.
Because I find the Facebook app calendar syncing feature to be less than adequate (for example, I like having higher resolution pictures display on this large screen) I downloaded a third-party Facebook contacts sync app. Works great.
Now, I have several contacts that are both Google and Facebook contacts. At least one of my Google contacts has a Google picture that that person has uploaded which is different from their Facebook picture that is syncing tocmy phone. Do I have the option to select which picture displays? I thought that selecting default information for the contact would work, but I don't seem to have that option there.
I guess another way of asking this question is how Android decides which picture to display when there are both Google profile pictures and Facebook picture synced on a phone. SCH-I535

Jun 11, 2010Ive had the incredible since it came out i thought i would just get used to not having all my facebook contact numbers in the same "list" as my normal contacts but i haven't and idk if im the only one with this problem but is there a way to get facebook numbers and such to be added to favorites or anything like that cuz there a couple of friend i haven't talked to or anything cuz i forget i have there number i mean the Droid was able to what the heck htc.

Jun 10, 2010I have my People app set up to pull Google and Phone only. Facebook is not selected.
When you go into People and hit Search "magnify icon". That thing pops up everybody in Facebook.
Also, when you go to Phone, and start typing it pulls up Facebook contacts.
I don't mind the sync from Facebook to people I actually talk to that are in my phone. I just don't want to see every FB friend. Am I missing another setting?

I think this is a cool feature as long as it only syncs with the names in your contact list, but not adding all your facebook friends to your phone, but I was wondering,
Does syncing all these pictures and e-mail with contacts (say you have 2-300) use up a lot of storage space?? Would it be better to not sync them for the sake of storage?

Aug 4, 2010I logged out of Facebook through the Android App then logged in and all is well. I dont know why it had to come to that, it should do it automatically.I have even done battery pulls which should theoretically log me out, oh well, it works now.I have done some searching around and there was a problem with Facebook a couple weeks back, but I dont think this has anything to do with that. I added a new friend on Facebook on the 25th of July, I also added them manually into my People on my Inc. For whatever reason when I go to the Link part of the contact and go to the Facebook Link, it says to pick from my friends. He does not show up in my friends if I am browsing through the link area. I can go to facebook from the phone and from the computer and he is there. It is making me insane.Also the profile pics are not updating, and havent for many months. My wife's picture has not changed on my phone's end in 4 months, but on the actual Facebook site it has.

I am not using friendstream for live feeds. I only have sync contacts checked. I am using the actual facebook app. Let me explain..I have been playing around trying to get optimal battery. I am using the facebook app widget to view status updates. I have the facebook refresh interval at 30 minutes and all notifcations off (since they dont work)Under "people" I have all the facebook options checked. Since there are 2, I dont know which one is for facebook app and which is for friendstream. I want to make sure my phone is not trying to sync contacts twice. Also, anyone else having trouble with no twitter contacts showing up under "people"? Neither friendstream or the twitter app do it.

Jun 11, 2010I recently upgraded from an Eris to the Incredible.. when the 2.1 came down OTA for the Eris I could then go into my people, click on their picture which then brought up a menu with photos that represented actions (call, text, email, etc.) One of these pictures was a Facebook icon. This brought me right to that persons Facebook profile using the Facebook for Android widget. Now that I have the Incredible, this Facebook icon is not there. What's up with that? I mean I can click on their name, then "go to Facebook profile" but this isn't the same I can only then access their info and/or wall, none of their photos, etc. This phone makes me actually have to go into the Facebook for Android widget itself then search friends and then get to someone's profile. I miss the icon option on my Eris, but they both run 2.1, shouldn't the Incredible have this option too?

Does this still work the same way for HTC's Sense UI?I know that you can synch your Facebook account to the Incredible but does it actually make all of your contacts your Facebook friends? This is a feature I would like alot because all of my friends that I am close with are my FB friends and I really like having all of my contacts have pictures and their full names.

Apr 29, 2010This seems to be a very annoying feature if there is not a way to disable it (and I can't find one). I have my google contacts all set up and they are the only things I want in my phone book. I know in "people" I can just show google, but when I got to dial a number, all of my facebook friends with numbers show up too. For some reason they are showing up in my google contacts too (when I log into gmail on my computer). It is nice how the facebook picture syncs with my contacts, but that is all I want, not everyone on else facebook who are not in my google contacts.
