HTC Incredible :: Flash Slowing Down Browser Scroll / Fix It

Aug 28, 2010

Maybe its just me but with this RUU and full flash, the browser scrolls a lot slower. I was running skyraider before and noticed this after I installed the full flash apk. Removed full flash and scrolling sped up like before.

Anyone notice this?

I'm temped to revert back to either skyraider or flash lite. The browser lag is quite annoying. Anyone know how to disable full flash in the latest leak (cant uninstall it). I imagine i could just rename something. Any tips?

HTC Incredible :: Disable Flash In Stock Browser?

Sep 2, 2010

I just got the OTA 2.2 update and love the speed of Froyo...it REALLY is faster that 2.1. BUT its not fast enough to run flash properly on some pages. IGN.com is one site that its just to choppy to scroll around properly. I'd rather have speed and smoothness than flash and I don't see any options to disable flash.

Anyone know if it can be disabled and where is the option? And by disable it I mean give the static image....not the green arrow in the white box. The reason is because some pages do not render properly when flash is disabled. A HUGE white box covers a lot of the screen. One example is IGN.com.

Also on a side note, everything else to me was extremely fast on 2.1 and the reason why most people can't tell 2.2 is faster is because they are looking at the fast things in 2.1 and trying to decide if its faster...which you can't really do...you have to look at whats slow. Its like seeing a car fly by...was it going 90 or 100? Hard to tell....but I'm sure you can tell between a car going 20 or 60.

Below are a couple of things in 2.2 is definetely faster than 2.1 for me.

1. Scrolling through text messages is much smoother than 2.1
2. There was a slight 1 - 2 second delay in 2.1 when going to bookmarks (using the thumbnail option)...I guess to load up the images...it is now much quicker. Also, scrolling through the thumbnail bookmarks is a lot quicker.

HTC Incredible :: Systempanel Monitoring Draining Battery And Slowing Down Phone?

i bought the full version of systempanel last night, because i installed setcpu and tasker over the weekend and started overclocking - i wanted to try the monitoring service and try to see if there was a drastic effect on my battery... well, the battery DEFINITELY seems to be draining faster than it did yesterday, and the phone seemed to be very choppy when switching between home screens. i disabled monitoring and it seems to be more responsive again.

Android :: Cant Scroll Frame In Browser

Sep 2, 2010

I'm starting to use a web interface (java from what I can tell) to stream my tv to my phone. Everything works great, except the channel list is it's own frame, and I cant scroll it. I can only see the first 15 out of 100 channels. I've searched google and cant find any information about this. I've also tried Skyfire and Dolphin, but with no luck. Does anyone know a workaround to scroll within a frame? The iphone and ipad can scroll within a frame by using two fingers in stead of one. There must be a workaround for android.

Motorola Droid :: Browser Scroll Lag?

Jan 5, 2010

I finally got fed up today with the phone being laggier than ever before. i dunno what was wrong. i wasn't using any home app. no streaming widgets on the home screen. no gps on, no wifi. no cpu intensive apps running in the background. nothing i had should really be lagging the phone in any way. but it would still get laggy for no reason sometimes. and it happens randomly. scrolling through menus. lag. swiping through screens. lag. pressing drawer tab. lag. scrolling through apps. lag. and its random. sometimes its smooth but other times its just incredibly frustrating. it gets to the point where i think the phone just crashed.

So i figured it must be these apps i installed. but they weren't even running in the background so it made no sense. but i decided to uninstall them anyway. i decided to just uninstall all the games and apps that i dont play or use. ended up uninstalling about 15 dif things. can't remember specific ones. but after i did the uninstalls, i scrolled/swiped around and it seemed to be much smoother!! checked the browser and engadget and this site seemed to scroll much smoother. so i restarted my phone to really clean it all out just in case, and it really does seem like the browser lag was gone!

I used the built in android uninstaller in the applications menu to uninstall. uninstalled a bunch of sound boards and free games. not sure what app was the culprit. but i do remember having some locale sync plugin still installed even though i didnt have locale installed anymore. also uninstalled some kinda OI plugin? a plugin for OI? i also uninstalled Hi AIM. these seemed to be the most significant ones to me and what i saw as the most likely culprits. wish i had documented all my steps now because this has definitely fixed the lag problem for me. screens swipe super smooth now, menus scroll with no hiccups. browser scrolling speed is back to the way it was before 2.0.1.

Android : No Scroll Bar At DIV In Droid Browser / How To Fix?

Dec 25, 2009

I just wanted to test how to move on a touchscreen the slider of a scroll bar, but big surprise, there is no scroll bar. I have defined a DIV with overflow:auto This means when the content of the DIV is greater than the DIV defined with style width and height, there should be scroll bars added to the DIV. But at this test page the left menu is larger than the DIV, but no scroll bar is added to the DIV. When you test it with an Android cell phone, You will have first scroll the screen to the left.

Android :: Scroll Iframe In Droid's Browser?

Jul 27, 2009

Did anybody found out (if it is even possible) how to scroll iframe in Android's browser?
For those that do not know what iFrame it is basically a frame inside a normal HTML document - please check this for the example - http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/frames/_IFRAME_SCROLLING.html

On the iPhone you scroll iframe inside the page by putting 2 fingers on the frame (instead of usual one for scrolling).

I have some web pages that use iframe and it is very frustrating not to be able to use them on my phone.

Android :: Scroll One Area Of A Page Using Droid's Web Browser?

Jun 9, 2010

On the iPhone, safari strips out scrollbars on divs that have overflow set to auto or scroll, but still lets the user scroll with the two-finger swipe gesture.

Using an HTC Incredible, we see the scrollbars are again missing, but we cannot figure out any gesture that allows the user to scroll. Is there a special directive we need to add to our HTML? This should affect zillions of websites, any time someone is trying to scroll an area of the page rather than the whole page. Does anyone know how to enable scrolling a div using the web browser on Android phones?

HTC Desire :: How To Flash The ROM So That Browser Will Work Correctly

Oct 20, 2010

I have Flashed the LeeDrOiD v2.2b ROM and when accessing the Stock browser it will randomly crash, it's a strange crash because normally a crash will mean that you will exit from the browser and next time it will load to the homepage, on mine though it will sort of crash but then load the page I was on, even if it wasn't my homepage, if I had any tabs open I would also lose all of those, which is how I know it's crashing.

This isn't specific to this version of the ROM though as I've had this since v1.4, when I asked in the XDA forums they said it might be to do with re-installing my backed up data, basically I went from Android 2.1 to 2.2 when I Flashed the ROM and they said that backing up data when crossing over Android versions could cause problems.

What I have done this time though is not backup anything, no SMS, no system settings, nothing! I deleted everything off my SD Card, cleared the cache, then cleared the Dalvik cache, did a factory reset, Flashed the ROM and then Flashed the radio but still this problem exists, I haven't backed up anything this time, although when I logged into the Market with my Google account it synced my contacts back onto my phone, as they're linked to my Google account somehow.

This is really starting to annoy me now but I can't figure out for the life of me why it happens, I've tried replicating it to narrow down the cause but I can make it happen one time doing it a certain way but then doing it that way again it'll be fine.

Has anyone got any ideas of how I can overcome this problem or how to Flash the ROM so that my browser will work correctly, this browser problem is the only problem I have with the ROM, apart from that it is superb.

Any help very much appreciated!

EDIT: Also, the browser can crash whether I'm connected to a data plan/Wi-Fi or not!

Android NDK - Multithreading Slowing Down Rendering?

Mar 26, 2014

I have an Android app with a C++ library which uses pthreads to break down rendering tasks. This is for devices running Android 4+.

Lets say I have a 100 x 100 array of elements into which I repetitively do CPU-intensive processing. Currently I'm breaking the array up into four 25 x 100 element chunks and handing it off to four Posix threads (from a pool of stalled, pre-created threads). This gives an almost 4x speed increase on iOS and desktop Mac but slower results than single-threading under Android.

So the same code is used successfully to speed up the app on iOS or desktop Mac but in Android it often makes it even slower. I have done some tests on it and only quite big junks of data speed up when using multi threading. If the whole process (all threads) takes around 2 seconds or more it will speed up in multi threading mode but if it is less (say only takes about 400ms) it will be either the same speed or slower than just calling the rendering function normally. Which could point to thread switching being really slow. The bigger the processing tasks, the more they profit from multithreading. My tasks are usually not as big, but not fast enough in single threading mode.

I have also noticed that on ARM builds the speed difference between slower multi threading and the faster single threading is quite significant (almost twice as fast in multi threading rather than single threading) whereas on x86 builds the multi and single threaded versions will run at about the same speed as single threading on ARM builds. So x86 builds do not get slower on multithreading but also not faster.
