HTC Magic :: Flash In Browser & Support Of Movie File Formats

Dec 28, 2009

Have already posted this in "multimedia". Sorry for reposting, but I hadn't seen this group before. Q1: On youtube and other websites I, more often than not, get the message "Cannot play this file". I suppose the reason is that the file format is not supported? Can I download a codecs pack somewhere in order to get more out of my phone? Q2: Is there a flash plugin for the Android browser or an alternative browser available, and where do I get it?

HTC Incredible :: Port Froyo's Browser With Flash Support To Droid 2.1?

As it may be a little while before Froyo is available for the Incredible I wonder if it might be possible to port Froyo's browser with flash support to Android 2.1. Ah the things you dream up when stuck at work doing data entry all day.

HTC Legend :: Flash Lite / Flash 10.1 Support

Provide the necessary link if I have missed a thread for this topic;

1] I presume Flash Lite is shipped & working with the Legend...?

2] Any news on 'full fat' Flash 10.1 support? Adobe seem [?] to suggest a snapdragon processor is required, is this still the case?

Will we ever see Flash 10.1 on the Legend?

Android :: XPCOM Support In Web Kit Browser?

Feb 1, 2010

Does the Android WebKit supports the XPCOM framework or NPRuntime API`s as like Firefox? How to implement JavaScript in the Android WebKit plug-in? Update: I am writing a media player plug-in for the Android WebKit browser and my plug-in needs to get the command from the web page through JavaScript (some actions like play/pause/stop/resize are issued as JavaScript commands from the browser). My plug-in is written in native C code. Are there any examples or sample plug-in available for JavaScript communication?

Android :: No Adobe Flash Support For Eclair

Dec 28, 2009

How one of the biggest news about eclair coming out in 2010 is that support for Flash 10 (or ANY Flash for that matter) will be built into it. This does not appear to be the case for the fact that I download all the latest source code for Eclair, built and installed Eclair onto my development phone over the Christmas break and to my surprise/ disappointment there is absolutely no support for Flash when I try to view with the browser. I tried plugin's and searching for missing .apk installs for Flash but I found nothing. Unless I am missing something (i.e. maybe a side tree build for flash?) and if I did then I apologize but from what I can tell as of now the Eclair build does and will not support flash.

HTC EVO 4G :: Flash 10 Support

Jun 7, 2010

I'm able to pull up a site which has a Flash 10 object and it works no problem.

I thought I needed Froyo (2.2) and the Adobe Flash Beta App to get this working.

In fact, on my 2G Nexus One, that is what I had to do to get it working - upgrade to 2.2 when I found the link to the manual installer, and then install the Beta Flash App.

The site in question is www.juniper.net - the main image in the center is an animated flash 10 object, at least that's what it says in FireFox when I right click on it..

I personally own an Android based phone running 2.1, but I can't seem to get the HTML 5 tag to work. Even when I can trigger the browser to playback the video it just throws a notification error that it can't.Are there guidelines to producing Android/HTML 5 compatible videos? Is it truly supported?

Just found this link to an apk that claims to port over the working full flash program from 2.2 to work with 2.1. From reading the comments, it appears it only works with HTC phones because of the flash lite already on them. I installed it, and tested a few sites and it seems to work great. I didn't to a test before I installed it to see what sites didnt work. ANyway, here's the link if anyone wants to experiment. HTC Incredible :: Animated GIF Support In Browser

Apr 29, 2010

I've been reading these forums for a while deciding to trade in my old dumbphone LG VX8300 on an Incredible. As a software engineer, I do lots of study before I commit. So yesterday when I get my new Incredible, I'm shocked to find out that the browser doesn't support animated GIFs! I don't care about the ones with smiley faces poking another smiley face in the eye with a stick, but most of the weather apps use animated GIFs to simulate live radar. That is one of my big uses on the old VX8300 (I do lots of motorcycle riding in the summer and want to know which way the rain is heading)The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, etc. all think they have moving radar images but none of them work. I did find RadarNow in the app store but that wasn't sufficient. I eventually found that WeatherBug Elite ($1.99) has moving radar images (they must use a different technique). I finally found a discussion over at the Android developers list of known issues Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code that discussed the issue. The developer has made a change for Froyo for large memory phones like the Incredible to enable animated GIFs. There is a mention of this over in the Motorola Droid forum, but with all the new folks jumping on the Incredible, I thought it might get better visibility here. So here's one thing that Droid doesn't. that the iPhone (and my ancient dumbphone, and Blackberry, and Palm, etc.) does.I just thought I'd share my experience so others can find it later.
