HTC Incredible :: Can I Disable Half Of The Auto-Rotate Feature?
Sep 2, 2010I kinda liked the fact that the old system only rotated when put on one side. I didn't realize that I counted on the screen orientation to stay the way when it was leaned the other direction. But I do like to type with the unit on its side from time to time.Is it possible to switch it back to the way it used to be (pre 2.2)? I saw an on/off for the entire rotation, so I doubt it but felt it worth asking.

Nov 8, 2010Does the Dinc have a way of ending the call automatically when the other party hang up without me having to physically push the end button. I guess this is useful when talking while driving and you know the phone will end the call when you set it aside instead of having to look on the screen. Is there a way to display while calling if the call is connected or the other party still has not picked up the phone.

Dec 7, 2009I installed it on my Droid and when I open the list and long press on an app it gives me the option to Auto-Kill. I assume this means I won't have to kill this app any longer so I select this option but I find that I keep having to kill the same apps over and over again. What's the point of Auto-Kill or what am I doing wrong? There are lots of programs (most I didn't even install) that run all the time and I'm having battery issues so I don't have battery to waste on programs I'm not using and will probably never use.

Sep 19, 2010Sometimes the screen auto-rotates when I don't want it to if I angle the phone slightly. I am constantly toggling it on and off. To do so of course, I have to go into settings, then display. Does anyone know of an app that I can add the toggle switch as a shortcut on my desktop? It is kind of a pain to go through the settings each and every time. I would much rather just hit it easily on my homescreen.

Oct 10, 2010I have only had my fascinate for a couple of days but I already love swype. However, I am having a problem with the auto complete. Whenever I input an 'a' the first option on auto complete is ' asw@armysurpluswarehouse.com' which is apparently from one of my google contacts. Since the web address has a period in it I am unable to select the entire thing at once by double tapping so that I can tell swype to take the word out of the dictionary it uses.

no headset plugged in just act as normal. Feb 5, 2010I recently got the G1 and used my Gmail account online (via computer) to setup my contact list and then sync it to my G1. Now when I compose an SMS message, and begin typing the name of the person in my contact list, only some of the names that match will appear in the drop down auto-complete list but others that match don't show up at all. To compose SMS to them I have to use the Contacts>Scroll to contact>Select text to mobile method. Any ideas why some of the contacts do not show up in the auto-complete list when composing an SMS and typing in a partial name in the To field?

Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.

Aug 20, 2010Since I got my Dinc back in June I have pretty much used AppBrain exclusively to install apps. If you know AppBrain, you know that your account automatically makes and saves a list of the apps you load. And you can sync this list with your phone to keep both current. It is also like a backup incase something happens to the apps on your phone. Well yesterday I was clicking my mouse faster than I was thinking and I deleted my "Apps on Phone" list from the AppBrain website. So my question is...If I run the "Sync with AppBrain" feature from my phone will it recreate the deleted "Apps on Phone" list on AppBrain or will it delete the apps from my phone

Jun 29, 2010i am running captjager 1.6.2 and everything has been running swimmingly up til now. it is set to auto syn every two hours, when it starts to sync and the little loop icon appears in the notification bar it just hangs there....forever or until i cancel sync and resync manually then it will finish the sync. is there a fix for this that anyone knows of? if not i will be switching back to stock, this has become annoying and probably is killing my battery.

On my Droid Incredible, if I launch the People app to view my contacts and hold the Menu button while viewing the main contacts list, a keyboard will pop up. Type on the keyboard, and the typed letters appear in a smokey overlay over your contacts... but it doesn't do anything.
Does anyone know what this does? Without rebooting my phone, I cannot get rid of the *banner* I guess you'd call it. I've done this twice-- once on accident (thought the keyboard would allow me to search contacts), and once just now trying to figure it out!

May 16, 2010Lately I noticed that Google maps and Google sky have been giving me bad direction information. Today I downloaded a compass app and sure enough the reading is off by almost a full 180 degrees. The program's calibrate feature didn't seem to correct the problem and I was wondering if there was a built-in way to recalibrate the magnetometer.

Oct 21, 2010I'm posting this here because I feel my question will directly relate to custom ROMS:
Every Rom I load (Skyraider Vanilla,ShadowRom, The NewGuy Etc.) starts restoring my phone. Usually as soon as it connects with google, it has an old wallpaper up and starting to pull apps. I know how to disable it (menu -> privacy), but my question two-fold:
1. Do all roms have this feature built in?
A. If so, is it hard to remove that feature.
2. Assuming that above A. is difficult, how does one find the backup in google and clear it out so there is nothing to restore?
I know I can't be the only one this bugs, and I'm fairly certain I am overlooking some very simple step in this whole process.

Sep 22, 2010I've tried the voice feature and it seems to be crap.I've tried it with, and without a bluetooth headset, and it doesn't recognize any name I say.For example, if I want to dial my wife, I say "call martha".it dials the toyota dealer. makes no sense at all.is there something i'm missing? some "set up" i need to go through so i can identify my voice? I'm asking it to dial names in my address book, actually just after she called, i tried it to call her back, no joy.

Aug 3, 2012Is is possible to remove the call feature from a phone, leave the MMS/SMS and Data modes? Basically I have a couple of older gen phones which are pretty crap for anything but media purposes, I use them whilst training or at an OP in Afghan. I just throw my headphones on if im running, as if I drop them.. I dont mind much.
Id like it if I could whack my sim in one, but remove the call function for OPSEC purposes. Still remain useful for SMS and Data(internet) usage whilst im away or even home. I've done this with certain devices (Wildfire, this was only used for Beats and Net, I removed the SMS and call function)
