Curious how to hookup the Incredible to a PC/MAC to move over some new wallpaper and sounds.
Is HTC Sync needed?
Ive done some searches and nothing seems to work. Some folks say you need HTC Sync, others the Android SDK.
What happens on my machine is I get two devices in Windows Explorer saying removable disk. However if I click on them, it thinks its a CD or DVD by asking please insert a disk.
I just need to copy a few files over, and for security reasons I don't want to email them to myself.
How to get the "Droid" notification sound on the dinc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my Dinc which I bought on launch day blew the front speaker yesterday. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a brand new Dinc out today. My question is, I have already rooted my phone and installed like 50 apps on it with tons of other crap, settings, data, etc. I have made multiple nandroid backups and titanium backups. Can I just save the backups on my SD card then get my hands on the new Dinc, root that one as well then use my backups on the SD card to just load everything on to the new phone so I don't have to go through the process of re-setting up my entire phone again?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo you have a car that had the free XM radio for 6 months... The free 6 months runs out, and you dont actually purchase XM... So you have an unused XM stereo. There's a way you can use the XM inputs on your stock car stereo to be able to listen to your digital music from that stock head unit.
Bottom line is... you gotta have a car stereo with an XM hookup that is inactive and you don't plan on using it again.
It would take a little digging on your part for your car model...
Mine is a 2006 GMC Canyon. Here is the instructions I used to accomplish this: (Thanks to canyonfans.com ):
---------------
This radio has two buss connectors on the back, the one coming from the XM tuner has 5 wires going to it. They are purple, bare(wrapped with tape), black/white (common), brown/white (left channel), and green/white (right channel). Since I never intend to subscribe to XM radio (the following procedure will disable the audio channels coming from the XM tuner) I tied my mini-stereo jack into this connector.
Remove the connector from the back of the radio and cut the black/white, brown/white, & green/white wires. Cap each of these wires that go back to the XM tunner (hidden elsewhere in the vehicle). On the connector side you simply connect the left channel from the Ipod to the brown/white wire, the right channel to the green/white wire and the common for both channels to the black/white wire. Plug the connector back into the radio.
Now plug the the stereo mini-jack you just wired to the connector to the headphone output on the Ipod. Tune the radio to either XM1 or XM2 band and you will hear the Ipod if it's on and playing. I didn't see the need for a line-input signal booster either, it was plenty loud.
------------
So what I did was take a 3.5 mm stereo jack (obviously the one that fits the incredible.
See the wikipedia article for pin out info for the 3.5 mm plug: TRS connector - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Basically its like:
Plug XM Stereo Bus Connector
tip ........................... Left Channel ........ brown/white
ring .......................... Right Channel ...... green/white
sleeve ...................... Common Ground .. black/white
After cutting the 3.5 stereo wire, there'll be 2 insulated wires, and a whole bunch of strands... the bunch of strands is ground (sleeve). There was a red and white wire, the red if I recall was LEFT, and the White wire was obviously right.
Simple 10 minute solder job, and voila! MP3 music, pandora, radiotime.com , etc whatever... from your incredible right through your stock XM equipped car stereo!
Your mileage may vary, I accept no responsibility for you blowing up your stereo, or worse, your incredible, ipod, or other cell phone...
Just saying, it worked like a champ in my case!
We need some one to create an app that will bring the phone out of standby using the joystick. It doesnt need to unlock it it just needs to turn on the screen so we can unlock.Any one know who i can email so that we can get a developer working on this project. This one is one thing i REALLY need on the incredible.Hitting the power button over and over sucks.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI was trying to free up space for my phone apps to run, by moving music files from the /emmc/music folder to my SD card. I succeded only when I resorted to using my PC connection, when both Astro and ES Explorer gave me "files cannot be moved" errors. I would prefer not to have done it this way, when I could have made use of such apps, but some part of the system is set against this. My phone isn't rooted, but I doubt that is the reason, as my PC was able to access files under /emmc (but not /system), and move them to my SD card. With my phone apps it's different, in that I cannot perform any operations at all under the root, not even copy (but I can look) Please help if you can!

View 12 Replies View RelatedThe battery in the Magellan in my car died and I didn't have a charger with me. So I pressed my DInc into service as a GPS unit. I must admit it performed remarkably well. The user interface on it wasn't as smooth as the Magellan, but the Magellan is designed to function as a GPS and only a GPS and the DInc isn't. The only problem I had with it is I couldn't see the screen as the screen was washed out in the sunlight. Is there any way to combat this? How can I use this as a GPS replacement if I can't see the screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I finallly talked the wife into a DINC from her old Samsung slider. I let her play with mine a bit (my PHONE! get your mind out of the gutter) and she went monday and ordered it from our local Verizon store. FedEx left a call tag today and I'm about to run out to our local hub and pick it up for her (2 day delivery !) Anyhow - the CSR at the Verizon store said "when you get your phone - make an appointment with me and I'll activate for you". We're leaving tomorrow for a short trip - and I really don't feel like postponing it for a couple hours just to get a phone activated. Are we able to activate these ourselves? When I got mine - I left the store for an hour or two and when I came back I was all set to go.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy DINC seems to be overheating a lot lately. Checking System Panel I see temperatures as high as 109. The symptoms are as follows: when using to browse the internet, check Face book and do email, continually for 30+ minutes - temp 102 - charging on Verizon Auto Charger - temp 109 - GPS for 2-3 hours - temp 104. Have brought this to Verizon's attention 4 times. Each time it was noted, I was told that they could not recreate it. Finally, after it getting to the 109 temp, I called and was told take it in and tell the store to exchange it. So, my questions are: 1 - has anyone else seen temps like this? 2 - if they take the phone and exchange, I lose all my apps, correct? Is there any way for me to get them to the SD card prior? 3 - do I try to get a different phone altogether?

View 41 Replies View RelatedPlease help, I am starting to get pissed off at this phone. I know there is a setting on the browser to turn off the mobile versions of internet web pages, but upchucking that box still doesn't do it. I still get mobile versions of web pages. I thought the Dinc/droids were similar to the iPhones in this regard about not being "a version of the internet" but the ACTUAL internet. Someone correct me where I'm wrong. I can't get the mobile version turned off no matter what I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
View 6 Replies View RelatedShe wouldn't listen or budge at all either. Biggest thing she said was she gets less bars on it(along with all other HTC's) Tried to tell her about looking at the signal instead of bars, and how I was reading it doesn't show full signal when not in use to save the battery or whatever. But noooo... the moto is still better hands down..
Got frustrated and left cause there were no Inc's in stock anyways, and she kept trying to sell me on the moto, even though I said I don't want it.
Have checked all the best buys, and Vzw stores around me. Closest one with them in stock is in Alabama-- 109 miles away.
Now I just cant decide if I should wait to see if one of the places get them in stock soon (people are saying some BB's are still getting them in.) or just bite the bullet and order it online.
