Jul 8, 2010I have a map created with google maps that has a number of places saved I wish to visit. Is there a way I can view the map on my phone? If I go to google maps on the browser I don't get the "My Maps" link. If I try using the google maps app, I don't see a way to view a public custom map.
Ultimately, I was hoping to be able to not only view the map, but select a point and get navi to that location. I'd be happy with just being able to view it though.

Oct 27, 2008When I'm at work, street view can be fun for filler time. Or if I'm looking to go on vacation it's handy to see what's around the area.
But really tho what are you guys using street view for on your phone other than to show you friends who own Iphones how cool it it? Are there functions that I'm missing?
To me it almost seems useless for a handheld device. Even if it moved real time as your walking all it will show you is what you would see right now ... only 6 month to a year ago.
So my question .... is anyone using street view for anything useful .... or am I missing something.

May 18, 2010It used to work but now it has gone missing. GM has updated to 4.2.0 (#4210) and i wonder if that removed it?
It's not in the Layer menu. If I hold finger down on a location it doesn't come up in a menu from that either So how to I get it back?

Jul 23, 2010I'm currently writing an app displaying a MapView showing a google map. I used the "hello map view" tutorial from http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html and this works so far: the map is displayed, centered and zoomed correctly, even the OverlayItems I added are displayed correctly. But when I click on one of those overlay items I added, the application crashes with a null pointer exception:

Sep 9, 2010Per the title, there are new versions of Maps and Street View in the market. The Maps update is just to add walking directions I think and the street view was a more polished update. Street view doesn't work after install, at least on my Epic. I open maps, pick a road and long-click on it. A balloon pops up saying "Loading address" for about 30 seconds then give me a pop-up error that says "Data Connection Lost, Retrying" But, data is working just fine on the phone everywhere else. Try rebooting the phone after install, it helped. Still some errors but much better than before. It is awesome when it works. Try compass mode.

May 12, 2010I received the alert to update Google Maps to 4.2, but everytime I try to install the update, I keep getting Update Unsuccessful (tried 5 times with resetting after each installation attempt). What could be the problem? Do I need to remove 4.1.1 first? I don't undertstand why I would as all other updates automatically replace the old/existing file. I emailed the developer, but no response has been received. Suggestions/fixes are welcome.And I'm still suffering from disappearing text conversations with stock messenging. I tried to download Handcent, and it wouldn't work. Oh well.

Aug 8, 2010I use to be able to search for categories of things in my area by opening google maps and then clickin 'menu' and then 'search' and immediately a list of categories would pop up and i could click on 'restuarants' for instance and then select by sub category such as 'chinese'. Now, the search button only opens a search box. I've seen the places icon but that's no more than a macro to search for broad words like "bars" or "restuarants" in google maps. It's not a full categorization.

Sep 7, 2010I rooted my phone with Unrevoked3 the Unrevoked Forever. I used my GPS and Navigation to a friends house. It worked great! Then I flashed to the OTA official ROM. Didnt change any setting. My GPS is set on. Under the "LOCATION" setting..everything is checked.
Now I can go to Google Maps and then get my location and then search and stuff. I can even get direction to places. However, when I hit NAVIGATE...all I get is "SEARCHING FOR GPS..." And it would be stuck at the screen for the longest time without going into the Turn-by-turn direction. I turned off my GPS and turned it backed on again...NOTHING! I just adjust the setting...nothing. I even factory reset the phone and getting the same message when I use the navigation feature.
I also notice that the GPS location is not accurate at all...a lot worst than before. This is very annoying since I can use my turn by turn direction. I tried uninstall but the phone wouldnt let me. Since im rooted is there anything I can do?

May 19, 2010I might have been hallucinating before, but I swear that the Google Maps app would track my location with the direction of travel always at the top of the screen - the 'track up' feature for most standalone GPS units.
Now when I track my location, it has me going left to right or right to left. Is there some setting that I changed? I recall several updates the past few days. Makes me wonder if that has anything to do with it. Thoughts?

Jun 5, 2010I know there was an option to avoid toll roads and highways on my Eris, but I can't seem to find that same option on the Incredible.Can anyone else confirm this?It's hard to imagine that on the Eris you can but on the Inredible you can't.It's the only thing I miss about my Eris.Is there anyway to avoid tolls on the Incredible?
