Jul 22, 2009I'm trying to display GoogleMaps in my application, but instead of map I just get an empty screen with crosses and Google logo in the bottom left corner. I'm using Internet permission in manifest file, just as the library "com.google.android.maps". I have also supported my application with Android Maps API key and I placed it in layout as android:apiKey value for MapView, but it still can't display the map.

I have used two different API Key values, regarding whether I signed the application with debug or my own created keystore, but it didn't work with none of them.

Jul 5, 2010Does anyone know how to display points, lines etc. (basically every overlay) created in android in standard google maps on website? The android db is synchronized with remote db. I'm getting the points from the database, creating kml file from them and uploading in to the map. The problem is that the areas I've created are not appearing where they should. They're somewhere on the ocean.
I thought that's because I'm running this code in android:

So basically I'm doing microdegrees here. I thought that dividing lat and long from db by 1E6 would do the trick but it didn't. Can someone please help me on that one?

Mar 2, 2010I had been showing off the droids capabilities to a co-worker when he asked "how far away is the nearest place to get a haircut from the hotel". At this time we were still at the airport, so I couldn't just say "map of nearest haircut". So I got the map to display the embassy suites, but then couldn't get it to ALSO display places to get a haircut. It was one or the other. I worked on it for about an hour but couldn't figure this one out. Is there a way to display multiple results?

Oct 27, 2008When I'm at work, street view can be fun for filler time. Or if I'm looking to go on vacation it's handy to see what's around the area.
But really tho what are you guys using street view for on your phone other than to show you friends who own Iphones how cool it it? Are there functions that I'm missing?
To me it almost seems useless for a handheld device. Even if it moved real time as your walking all it will show you is what you would see right now ... only 6 month to a year ago.
So my question .... is anyone using street view for anything useful .... or am I missing something.

May 18, 2010It used to work but now it has gone missing. GM has updated to 4.2.0 (#4210) and i wonder if that removed it?
It's not in the Layer menu. If I hold finger down on a location it doesn't come up in a menu from that either So how to I get it back?
Android :: Google Maps View Crashes On Tap / Click?
Jul 23, 2010I'm currently writing an app displaying a MapView showing a google map. I used the "hello map view" tutorial from http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html and this works so far: the map is displayed, centered and zoomed correctly, even the OverlayItems I added are displayed correctly. But when I click on one of those overlay items I added, the application crashes with a null pointer exception:

Motorola Droid :: Google Maps Does Not Display Anything At Highest Magnification
Nov 14, 2009I noticed that google maps does not display anything when at the highest magnification on my droid. This is true when satellite is on or off. Have any of you noticed this? I find it works like this when wifi is on or off.
I see a gray background with a few magnifying glasses instead. I thought it might be because there are no images near my house at this level, so I tried Manhattan near MSG and still did not find anything at the highest mag level.

Sep 9, 2010Per the title, there are new versions of Maps and Street View in the market. The Maps update is just to add walking directions I think and the street view was a more polished update. Street view doesn't work after install, at least on my Epic. I open maps, pick a road and long-click on it. A balloon pops up saying "Loading address" for about 30 seconds then give me a pop-up error that says "Data Connection Lost, Retrying" But, data is working just fine on the phone everywhere else. Try rebooting the phone after install, it helped. Still some errors but much better than before. It is awesome when it works. Try compass mode.

Jul 8, 2010I have a map created with google maps that has a number of places saved I wish to visit. Is there a way I can view the map on my phone? If I go to google maps on the browser I don't get the "My Maps" link. If I try using the google maps app, I don't see a way to view a public custom map.
Ultimately, I was hoping to be able to not only view the map, but select a point and get navi to that location. I'd be happy with just being able to view it though.

Mar 5, 2009Is Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

Apr 6, 2010I have an Android application that works off of a smaller database, around 300 entries. To view the database, I have created a custom view that contains individual rows of data. Then I query the database, and add each line to a newly created custom view.
The problem is that it takes a little white for all of this to be created/loaded, so when you open the application, it sits for a few seconds.
How can I load one line of data, then display it, then the next, append it, etc.?
