My incredible keeps launching google maps on it's own. I will kill it will ATK and it will stay killed for a while but sometime between 15min to 45 min later it will have launched itself again. Has anyone found a way to stop this?

I have read a lot of stuff about launching Google Maps in Android. That's pretty easy:
Uri uri = Uri.parse("geo:38.899533,-77.036476");
Intent it = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, uri);
startActivity(it);
The problem is that the map is shown at a high zoom level and there is no marker on the map. So, if the user move a little bit or something happen, the point is lost. Is that possible to add a marker like this:

So I can be sure that even if the user move the map, he will be able to find this place again.
I have an android application which allows the user to open up google maps or navigator to show a certain address. This functionality was working in the past, but now I get the following error and the app crashes:
ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2165):
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException:
No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW

The two intents I'm using are-
1) For Map:

2) For Navigator:

My app needs to show Google Maps directions from A to B, but I don't want to put the Google Maps into my application - instead, I want to launch it using an Intent. Is this possible? If yes, how?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my new HTC hero. Everything's fine, been installing apps like crazy, sorted out videos, but not for the satnav.. For some reason, when I go on Google Maps, it minimizes right out of it to the home screen where my clock is.
If I hold the house button, it's still open, and if I go back to it again, it will just minimize again after a short while. I got it to stay open once, but now it's just messed up
Any fixes or alternative Sat Navs I can use?
I want a map - How do you get the thing to *NOT* tilt when you go to navigation? Can't believe there isn't a built in option (like on Earth) on a settings menu.
SGIII, all latest updates. No, the two finger drag does nothing when in navigation other than move the map.
Maybe only way is to go BACK a version of maps and get rid of it?
I've come across an interesting issue and thought I'd run it by the forum. I did a search before posting and didn't see anything about this. I'm going through my phone trying to free up some space. I use Uninstaller Pro to delete apps. Today I noticed that Google Maps is listed four times in Uninstaller Pro. Each one has the same version number and the same download date. I don't want to uninstall the program completely, but if it has somehow installed itself three extra times, I'd like to remove the copies. Root Explorer only lists the .apk one time Has anyone else had this problem or know of a reason why there would be four copies of Google Maps listed?

I have an application which is playing audio.I have some customers that use this application while driving and who also use the Google Maps application to get directions to the places where they are driving.They have asked me to change my application to pause my audio while the Google Maps application is giving them audio navigation instructions. I am trying to find out if I can register a Broadcast Receiver to let me know when the Google Maps application is giving audio navigation instructions, or if there is a way to detect when any other application has started or stopped playing audio.It seems that this type of functionality would be beneficial for Google Maps and for any type of application which is playing media, so I am hoping that Google Maps is broadcasting events when it starts and stops giving audio navigation instructions, or that there is a generic way to discover when overlapping audio sources are trying to play.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI received the alert to update Google Maps to 4.2, but everytime I try to install the update, I keep getting Update Unsuccessful (tried 5 times with resetting after each installation attempt). What could be the problem? Do I need to remove 4.1.1 first? I don't undertstand why I would as all other updates automatically replace the old/existing file. I emailed the developer, but no response has been received. Suggestions/fixes are welcome.And I'm still suffering from disappearing text conversations with stock messenging. I tried to download Handcent, and it wouldn't work. Oh well.
View 25 Replies View RelatedI use to be able to search for categories of things in my area by opening google maps and then clickin 'menu' and then 'search' and immediately a list of categories would pop up and i could click on 'restuarants' for instance and then select by sub category such as 'chinese'. Now, the search button only opens a search box. I've seen the places icon but that's no more than a macro to search for broad words like "bars" or "restuarants" in google maps. It's not a full categorization.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with Unrevoked3 the Unrevoked Forever. I used my GPS and Navigation to a friends house. It worked great! Then I flashed to the OTA official ROM. Didnt change any setting. My GPS is set on. Under the "LOCATION" setting..everything is checked.
Now I can go to Google Maps and then get my location and then search and stuff. I can even get direction to places. However, when I hit NAVIGATE...all I get is "SEARCHING FOR GPS..." And it would be stuck at the screen for the longest time without going into the Turn-by-turn direction. I turned off my GPS and turned it backed on again...NOTHING! I just adjust the setting...nothing. I even factory reset the phone and getting the same message when I use the navigation feature.
I also notice that the GPS location is not accurate at all...a lot worst than before. This is very annoying since I can use my turn by turn direction. I tried uninstall but the phone wouldnt let me. Since im rooted is there anything I can do?
My Incredible just popped up with an update to Google Maps! We now have pinch to zooom! I kinda figured something like this would happen since the eris 2.1 update just came out with pinch to zoom maps. Any1 having issues with it tho? Mine seems to be acting kinda funky...

Double tap to zoom in works. I have Traffic Layered. My pinch to zoom is working for everything else like Sense UI.
Google maps is giving me a force close on my dinc today. Also effecting Place, Navigation. GPS is fine. My location is working as is local weather.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI might have been hallucinating before, but I swear that the Google Maps app would track my location with the direction of travel always at the top of the screen - the 'track up' feature for most standalone GPS units.
Now when I track my location, it has me going left to right or right to left. Is there some setting that I changed? I recall several updates the past few days. Makes me wonder if that has anything to do with it. Thoughts?
I'm trying to let Verizon take care of my voice mails rather than Google Voice, but I'm not having any luck.I have gone to: Settings --> Voice mail Service --> and selected My Carrier.As well as setting my number under voice mail number but I still need to dial my Google Voice # then enter my passcode to get my voice mails which is what I want to avoid.
