HTC Incredible : Can't Sync To Windows 7-64bit / How To Fix

Jun 1, 2010

I have had my Droid 2 weeks and love it. But I can not get it to sync with my Dell XPS Windows 7, 64 bit computer. I've been to 3 different Verizon stores and they have no idea what to do. It will sync with XP and Windows 7-32 bit. I have downloaded the Motorola 4.6.0 Driver with MotoConnect* (for 64-bit versions of Windows). When I connect to my computer, it acts like it will connect and sometimes it does for a couple of minutes then the drive just disappears. I have marked "Debugging". I have Googled and tried everything out there with no luck.

HTC Incredible : Can't sync to Windows 7-64bit / How to fix

I want to debug on my device and I am using a Windows 7, 64 bit, but I can't find correct drivers to do so. The perspective in Eclipse is whether changing nor halts the IDE at any breakpoint. Can you send me any suggestions how to use debugging?

Android :: Plugins Not Working In Eclipse On Windows 7 64bit

Dec 30, 2009

On my brand new Windows 7 machine, I downloaded Eclipse (Galileo) and several Eclipse plugins (Android's ADT plugin, Subclipse, etc.) After rebooting, neither of these plugins are showing up in the IDE (nothing in the preferences, menus, etc.) but if I click "Installation Details" in the 'About Eclipse' popup, I see all of the plugins listed as Installed Software. (ex. Android DDMS 0.9.5, Subclipse 1.6.5, etc.) How do I get my plugins to work?

General :: ROM Dumping Unknown Android Device Using Windows 7 64bit

Jan 3, 2013

I am attempting to pull an image from an unknown android device. I am running into a few issues:

When I attempt to pull the image by using the command in ADB : dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk1 of =/sdcard/boot.img I get the error write Error: File too large.

This happens when getting to the 4.0 GB mark, (assuming this is an issue with FAT32)

Is there an adb command to do a rom dump directly to my PC? Is there an application?

Motorola Droid :: Cannot Pair DROID With Windows 7 64bit

Nov 7, 2009

I have mentioned it in a couple of other threads, but here is the gist of it:

https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/16333

It simply will not pair.

I removed the old Samsung device, rebooted the computer and the DROID - no go. I even added the Alias back to the computer and they paired perfectly fine. Therefore, the dongle (since it is a mini dongle, do I call it a dingle?) the computer and my BT stack on my computer are working perfectly fine. This is the same computer that I have been using with my Alias to sync with BitPIM, and I have been using BitPIM since I got the alias roughly 2 years ago (yeah, I have every text message ever sent and received on that phone in BitPIM....)

I simply cannot understand why the DROID will not pair. I get an invalid pass key or PIN error if I try to sync from the DROID side and the operation failed if I try to sync from Windows.

Ever weirder, I can pair the Alias to the DROID - although they won't connect, I get through the pairing process perfectly fine, with the Alias prompting me to enter a PIN, and then the DROID prompting me to re-enter the PIN. I then tried it from the DROID side and it sees the Alias there but will not attempt to connect to it after pairing.

Why is the pairing process mucking up in Windows?

HTC Incredible :: Universal Windows USB Drivers - ADB - BootLoader -Disk Drive - HTC Sync

Sep 10, 2010

Monitoring the traffic on the unrEVOked IRC channel, it's clear that there is a ton of confusion about the USB drivers needed, despite the excellent article on the unrEVOked site. I thought I'd maybe add to that or create an alternative article.

There are three different modes in which the Incredible (or the EVO!) can connect to a Windows system:
Disk Drive
ADB (USB Debugging and ClockworkMod Recovery)
BootLoader (while phone is in the HBOOT mode)

The drivers that come with the Android SDK can't do any of it because none of the interfaces for the Incredible are present in the .INF file. The drivers that come with HTC Sync can do #1 and #2, but cannot be used for rooting with unrEVOked because they don't support #3. The following link points to drivers which are universal; they will work for all three purposes on the Incredible (and the EVO as well).

unrEVOked modified USB Driver

You do not have to remove HTC Sync if you have it installed. These drivers will replace the ones that came from HTC Sync and be usable for that as well as rooting. The trick is getting these drivers to replace the ones you have from the Android SDK or HTC Sync or ??? (or simply installing them if you have no drivers yet). The idea is to plug your phone into USB while it's in HBOOT mode, forcing Windows to look for Bootloader drivers. Only the ones here provide that.

Anyway, here's how:
Uninstall HTC Sync, DoubleTwist, and DropBox from the PC. Sorry about this. Once these drivers are installed you may reinstall those and they will continue to work. These drivers are universal.
Unzip the file, leaving the folder Android USB Driver somewhere like on your desktop
Unplug your phone from USB
Power down your phone
Now simultaneously press the volume DOWN button and the power button, holding till the HBOOT screen appears
Now connect the USB cable between the phone and your PC
The word HBOOT (blue box with white letters) will change to HBOOT USB PLUG
On the EVO, wait till HBOOT cycles through an SD check (10 sec) then select select HBOOT USB at the bottom of the menu (using the vol keys to navigate and power button to select). Thanks to hperry for this.
Now look at your Windows Device Manager and see if you already have Android Phone listed for HBOOT as shown in one of the last two images (way) below. To see the Device Manager, right click My Computer, select Manage..., select the Device Manager. If you see the Android Phone, you're ready to root and can skip the rest of this. Otherwise, you do not have HBOOT-capable drivers, and you need to install them. Windows should be looking for drivers now. At this point things may differ between XP and Vista/7.

In XP, the New Hardware Found Wizard should appear. Tell it NOT to use Windows Update, and moving along, tell it to look in a specified location. It will pop up a file open dialog. Navigate to the Android USB Driver folder, click OK then click Next.

For Windows Vista/7 you might not see the New Hardware Found Wizard. Open the Device Manager (Right click My Computer, select Manage..., select the Device Manager). You will see an Android Phone node in the tree with a "caution" icon node beneath it. Right click on the caution-marked node and select Update Driver. Follow through specifying NOT to look in Windows Updatte and Install from a specified location. It will pop up a file open dialog. Navigate to the Android USB Driver folder, click OK, then click Next.

In either case, eventually the driver should install. At this point you have the universal drivers installed for the Incredible. They can also be used with the HTC EVO. Here's what you should see in the Windows Device Manager for each condition:

Phone Running Normally, USB Debugging Enabled, plugged in via USB:

Windows 7

Windows XP

Phone running HBOOT, plugged in via USB:

Phone showing HBOOT

Windows 7

Windows XP

Media :: Sync G1 With ITunes In Windows

Oct 24, 2008

you'll be able to set sync your G1 with an iTunes playlist (you're actually syncing the MicroSD card with iTunes, but it works the same). After you install the program, connect the G1. The "Recognize by folder type" field is important. It's basically how the program distinguishes your G1 from any other device you connect to your computer - I added a Notepad file called ANDROID to the root of the MicroSD card, seems like it can be anything that simple. In the "Music Folder" field, I pointed it to the Music folder at the root of the MicroSD card on the G1.

In the "Associate with playlist" I left it as "use device name." Now, when you go to iTunes, under "My Devices" there should be a playlist icon that says "G1". Add whatever files you want (make sure there isn't any DRM) and then right click on the iTunesAgent icon in your system tray and click "Synchronize devices."

General :: HTC Sync / Windows 7 No Longer Sees Android Phone

Apr 22, 2013

The phone and cables are good as I can get HTC Sync to work on my old PC and this one worked just a few weeks ago and I can even get it to work in a VMware session. But for whatever reason the phone just keeps showing up as Unknown and is put under Other devices as “Android phone”. On the other PC and in the VMware it is added as "My HTC" under Android USB Devices in Device Manager.

I’ve tried a bunch of uninstalling and rebooting and so on but something on my new Windows 7 PC is stuck when connecting the phone. It thinks it has no driver for it but it does. If I try and point any of the HTC INF files Windows just says they are not for this device.
