Is there any way to delete emails, for Gmail or Exchange, w/o deleting them from my actual account? The nice thing about my BlackBerry is that it gave you the option to "Delete from Handheld, or Delete from Handheld & Inbox". I'd like to be able to clear unnecessary emails from my phone, but keep some of them in my actual inbox.

I've been enjoying my Incredible since launch.Today I got a "SoAndSo is now following you on Twitter" message, and I can't delete it.If I long-press the message in my inbox and select "Delete" from the menu, I get a "The Application Mail (process...) "Force Close" message and I have to restart mail.This error and behavior is repeatable.If I select "Menu -> Delete" from the in-box, the message dissappears, and is not available to "select" for deletion.If I try and just select the message to read it, the screen quickly flashes as though it were about to open the message, but immediately returns to the inbox screen.If I get a new message, I am able to delete it with no problem. It seems to be specific to only this message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i asked this question before, but it was about the time everyone was getting their D-Inc's and it was chaos in this forum, and no one quite understood my question. How do we delete a mail address from history. For example, i emailed JoeSmith @aol.com (who is not in my contact list), and realized that it should be JoeSmith @yahoo.com, now everytime i go to send an email, starting with the letter J, i see both the yahoo and aol email addresses and it says "history" to the right. I tried the "history cleaner" app, and also looked everywhere, but i can't find out how to delete email history anywhere. This happened about 5 times so far, so each time i go to email one of these 5 people, both email addresses come up and 50% of the time i'm choosing the wrong address because i forget that it was input wrong the very first time. Since it says history on the right of the email address, i can only assume there is a history marker somewhere showing me all the emails i've sent, but i cant seem to find it. I want to get these email addresses out of there because i'm always choosing the wrong one, and because i have OCD and can't STAND the fact that there is a wrong email address there. I tried to LONG press, and thought maybe i can delete from there like long pressing a text, or a full conversation, but no luck. Anyone have any info on this?

Coming from a Blackberry, I was prompted each time I went to delete a mail message with the following: delete from "Handheld" or "Handheld & Mailbox" This way e-mail messages I needed to attend to when I get home from work would be downloaded to my desktop when I opened my mail client (and all the mail I deleted thru the day would be gone when I opened my mail client).
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to clear historical contacts from the Email application. I'm using yahoo, I don't have Gmail set up on this phone because yahoo is my primary email. I've sent emails to 3 wrong emails. For example JoeSmith@aol.com, JSmith@aol.com, JoeS@aol.com but really his email is JoeSmith@yahoo.com. Now everytime I go to send this person an email, all 4 emails come up, the 3 in history, and the 1 in his contact information. When I type in J in the email recipient, all 4 come up, 3 say "history" next to the line of the email. I tried to add those emails into the contact, and then delete the emails, but that doesn't work.
I've went to yahoo to see if those contacts are showing up in history and they are not, so I know the historical email history is on the phone only. I haven't found a way to remove these items in history, but it's starting to cause problems because if I don't pay attention, I am choosing one of the wrong emails. Same thing is happening when I hit reply to ALL, 1 time about 2 months ago, and now i have about 40 emails in history and I don't even know who these people are, they are not in my contacts, and the phone is holding them hostage because I sent an email once. Does anyone know of a sure way to remove these historical emails?
If you don't know what I mean, give it a try, send an email to JOE@yahoo.com, and when you get it kicked back, the next time you try to send an email and hit "J", that JOE@yahoo.com will show up every single time, without fail. I've checked all historical settings on the phone, and even removed and re-added the yahoo account, but it does no good, the historical emails still stay in history. It's getting very annoying to have 45+ emails that you dont even know show up everytime you try to email someone something. Someone must have an answer for this, I can't be the only one that has sent the wrong email to someone.
Can i delete email on my Evo so that it does not delete it on my laptop. i have looked everywhere on this phone and cannot find a setting to do this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was having trouble seeing all my saved mail on my AOL email setup through the Mail App. I tried deleting my AOL Email address so I could reinstall it. I started the process to delete it but it lock up during the process. The phone wouldn't respond to anything so I had to turn it off. When I turned it back on the Mail App shows I have emails but when I tap on it, it comes up to a screen that says choose a mail provider. Choices are Exchange Activesync or Other (POP3/IMAP). I choose Other (POP/IMAP), entered email address & password. It came up to a warning screen (an account with the email address already exists. It doesn't allow me to complete the setup. It seems it deleted part of the email address setup but it still remembers the old setup. Is there anyway to totally delete this email address to start all over without resetting the phone?

Why is it doing this and is there something in settings that will prevent it from deleting emails from my phone? I clicked on PDF, and low and behold there is something that was downloaded to the SD card as a PDF on it. I did not download this, which means they gave me a used SD card with the replacement phone ( sketchy right?) Anyway, I want to delete the pdf, how do i do it? I know there is an uninstall place somewhere, just not sure where it is. Also how do I check to see what else is on the SD card?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought I understood that there was no capability to sync with Outlook via the USB cable so I imported all my contacts and my calendar to gmail and that worked fairly well. Except for contact updates being a pain.
The I discovered HTC Sync and installed that. The result was duplicate calendar entries and some, but not all, contact duplicates on the phone.
I deleted the duplicate contacts and re-sync'd so it removed those contacts from Outlook. Luckily I had just backed up my PST file so I was able to get them back.
How to delete all contacts and calender entries from the phone so I can try again.
I apologize I'm new to the forum tried to search to see if I could find the answer by running a search but didn't see anything. Anyone else having this issue? Trying to delete a entire thread, but it takes forever and never deletes the thread.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone yesterday, and the verizon rep insisted he needed to setup a new google account on the phone. I didn't feel like arguing since I already have one so I let him do it. Once I got home, I setup my account and sync'd all of my email and contacts, but I cannot delete the original account he setup off the phone. I also cannot sync my calendar through my account. The phone is only wanting to sync the calendar with the account he set up. Can someone offer advice on how to delete the account he setup? BTW, I have gone in and tried to delete the account, but the phone tells me applications need this account and in order to delete it, I will have to reset the phone to all defaults and all information will be lost.

Now I am sure the phone wad hacked and not gmail as all the screens got formatted on my phone(sorry for wronf usage reboot below) I checked all the apps and I think it is the app SKYDECK, I am not a techie but the app shows the permission to read and write/edit/delete contact data, also when you install it it will ask you the option to send message to contacts for whom the information is not there(I chose no). From some mailer daemons I found hat message was send using information below......
Something weird just happened, all of a sudden when I open my Pop 3 email account on the Droid Inc., read it, then open the same email account on my computer prior to yesterday that email on the Droid Inc would disappear like I wanted it to. Now it remains on the Droid until I manually delete it. I looked on the manual and Internet but could not out how to change it back. One thing that did happen yesterday was I received the new Verizon Droid Inc OTA update Not sure of the update number but its the one that has Slacker Radio Addition. That may be the issue. Any thoughts.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past few weeks a problem has started with my email on the Incredible. In the very first slot I get a weird/strange email. It is not in bold suggesting that I have already read this email. I will delete it and then with the very next refresh there it is again....the same one. That has been going on for a few weeks. Then three days ago it advanced to where I would delete the next three message following this weird one (these three are from normal senders that I recognize). Again, I would read those three and then delete them, along with the one weird one. Again with a refresh the four would be back. I went into the Verizon store yesterday with a few issues and he got the phone to stop doing this.....that is until this morning when again I am getting that first weird email. I wish I had asked him what he did to get it to stop so I could do it myself. I just went to the store here in my town and the place is jam packed, which is usual. I don't want to wait an hour just for this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the email app that came with my Sprint HTC Evo, I added my googleapps email... I then later discovered the gmail android app works better.. So I set it up there also. However, the email app still has my email account setup in it.. I don't see a way to delete it. I've held down the account, but no context menu shows up.. there's no delete function apparently.. I'd add another account to test with, but I'm afraid I won't be able to delete that either!
