HTC Droid Eris :: Accessing SD Card As USB On Computer
Mar 5, 2010I'm bought my Eris a week ago and am not familiar with all of its functions. I'm trying to place my music files on the SD card. Whenever I plug it into my computer and mount it shows a USB drive under "Computer", but whenever I click it I get a popup saying that the drive can't be found. I've downloaded HTC Sync and that let me create a music file, but then I couldn't do anything with it.

Jul 28, 2010I have a quick question about my sd card. I plug in my cable to my laptop and for some reason the card does not come up. I put it in usb mode and no go.The last time I did this was about 3 weeks ago and as soon as I plugged my phone into the laptop, it immediately came up as drive G:this time when i plug it in, it tries to open and the drive G i see the folders then it says Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (G I don't understand why this is happening. I just want to be able to plug my phone into any computer and access it for drag and drop. Can i do this? Or do i have to have a special program for this?

Feb 8, 2010Everytime i plug the phone into my laptop it pops up on the phone to turn the usb drive on or charge only. i click usb drive and it beeps and says turn off in the notification bar. then it says checking sd card for errors and beeps again and then it wont let me access it from the laptop. it sees the removable drive but wont open it. just now it let me access it long enough to put a cd on the card then clicked off again.

Mar 14, 2012I need some way to access the SD card on my SGS2 GT-9100 from certain applications in windows. E.g., when I try browsing for a destination folder in the phone through these programs, my phone is not recognized at all.
The long story:The problem I am trying to overcome is copying of images from my computer to my phone without changing the creation date (for sorting purposes). When copying from my computer to my device this attribute changes an thus all images have the same date and there is no way of making any sense of which picture was taken when.
So my plan is to get access to the images on my device, after altering there dates, and use a program which will change the creation date from the modification date (which holds the original date taken of the pictures).

Aug 9, 2010I wrote an app that saves a camera picture to the SD card, then accesses the file later to display it into an ImageView. This works fine for all devices except the HTC Droid Eris (maybe the version Eris is running?):

Feb 12, 2014I'm using Android 4.2.1 on Galaxy note 10.1. I am travelling and photographing and have 64 folders and 6gbs of pics on a 64*gb*sd card. The last two attempts to transfer images from my camera via USB have all failed with various weirdness, like seeing the pics in folder with Gallery app once, only to have the folder completely disappear on next viewing. I have lost over 800 photos like this and I can' t find anything about a folder limit in android but see lots of similar posts with sd card problems. All fine up until I hit that limit, now my whole image recording process while traveling appears to be unreliable. Is it possible the pics are there but not viewable somehow?

Sep 11, 2013Basically, I'm unable to make a briefcase folder on my phone's SD card. I can make new folders, but I don't get the range of options that you would normally get when hovering your cursor over the "New" option (when opening the "New" context menu) when accessing my SD card via a usb cable plugged into the phone; I'm actually able to get the context menu when accessing the SD card by sticking it straight into the computer, but when it remains in my phone (and the phone's hooked up to the computer), I don't get the context menu.
Here's what I want:
Obviously, I can just use the SD card by plugging it directly into the computer, but it's inconvenient to take off the case, remove the back, etc. I'd rather just plug a USB cable directly into the phone. Why is my phone preventing me from getting that context menu when doing so though?

May 7, 2014I'm using a Gemini Devices Gem1031BK 16GB tablet running Android 4.1.1 and Nova Launcher. I have 2 main problems.
Problem 1, if I move my photos to the SD card I can no longer view them on the tablet. It is as though they no longer exist, but the tablet will run Apps stored on card.
Problem 2. I keep getting "App Not Installed" messages although the icon is still present on the desktop. This happens with various apps, Candy Crush Saga, BBC iPlayer, BBC Media Player etc. The only thing I can do then is reload the app from the Play Store.

I'm not really digging Dropbox either. Don't like to have my personal files floating around on another server.

Apr 20, 2010I'm trying to find information on how to programmatically access the HTC Droid Incredible's supposed 8GB of internal storage.To determine the external storage (SD Card) location, In examining HTC/Google Nexus One, Motorola Droid, and HTC Dream/G1 phones, there (as would be expected) does not appear to be any mount point for such arbitrary internal storage. On these phones the internal storage is divided amongst /data, /system, and /cache partitions. The Incredible's internal storage is certainly not going to be located in /system. /cache is also unlikely given that it is globally non-readable/non-executable. I'd read in reviews that the phone will still be limited to 512MB or so for apps, suggesting that it is not simply a subdirectory of /data.

Aug 27, 2010So i just loaded one of the new ROMs based on todays OTA.
I did the nandroid. I did the titanium. i flashed using rom manager and selected clear cache/data.
ROM loaded perfectly.. and when i went to titanium to restore, nothing was there!
I plugged the phone into the computer, and i can't even view the card.
I can browse the phone's memory, but not the cards.
I'm hoping there's some adb command or something that'll fix this...

May 3, 2010All the official specs i've seen for the incredible say it supports up to a 16 gig micro sd card (that's what i've got in mine), but i remember reading reports in the indredible early on that said it would take a 32 gig card.

First I restarted the phone with a soft reboot which didnt work, then I did a hard reboot which reset all my settings but still didnt fix the issue. I removed and re-installed the SD card in the slot which also did nothing. The phone refuses to recognize the card is mounted.

I'm an experienced smart phone user(4 generations of Treo's, Blackberry, Moto Droid), but I've encountered an issue that has me perplexed.I loaded about 20 mp3's in a folder I created on my SD card.I immediately checked the default music player and was happy to find that it found and played all 20 songs.I went back to use the music player a day or so later and found it listed all of the newly loaded songs twice.In looking at the details of the songs, I found that somehow a process on my Incredible copied all 20 songs to the internal memory! I was hoping to eventually load about 10GB of music to my SD card with the assumption that I could play those songs directly from the card.But until I figure this out, that obviously is not going to happen.I'm hoping the collective brilliance of this group will explain this unusual behavior and solve this problem.

Jun 12, 2010I've had to reboot my phone 3 times in the last 2 days because the SD card becomes unreadable. Yesterday I couldn't save an attachment from GMail because it said I needed to have an SD card installed. Then Astro wouldn't let me delete a file even though I was able to locate it. And today my widgets were all screwed up because according to them there was no SD card installed that had the skins. I don't mind dealing with an issue here and there, but there have a been a few occasions where this phone has gotten under my skin. Anyone else dealing with this? I seriously doubt the SD card is bad, although there's only one way to prove that. Is there an app that will dismount and remount the SD card while the phone is running for when these situations occur?

Sep 29, 2010After powering on my phone this morning(I charge my phone off to bump charge my 2100 battery ) I tried to play a podcast on Google listen and noticed my phone said there was no SD card. I tried everything. Rebooted several times and I even booted into recovery. I got weird screen, triangle with an exclamation! So I rebooted back into current Rom(Ruby1.1). So I finally bit the bullet and decided to reformat the SD card (through the phone) and it still doesn't work! I don't have access to a computer but it looks like my SD card is toast. This card is a 8gig scan disk that came with my old BB Storm. Luckily the 2 gig SD that came with my incredible has a nandroid back-up, but its a 2.1 back-up. Not sure if it matters but I do have an extra backup. When I get a home I'll get another SD and do so backups. Just thought I le you guys know to tell everyone to make extra backups!

Oct 6, 2010So I somehow killed my 2GB SD card last week (accidentally unplugged from the laptop while it was writing data- wasn't recognized as existing by my phone or laptop after that) and just got a 4GB card today. I formatted it (FAT32) before trying anything, then copied my files back from my laptop onto the card and ran a new Titanium Backup batch thingie. Everything was fine, and I was going to go create a new backup file through Clockwork Mod so I could flash a new ROM on there and I get this message.
