HTC Desire :: How Long For Battery To Start Performing?
Apr 20, 2010I received my Desire on Saturday, I'm not very happy with the battery performance at all so far. All automatic updates are off and 3G/Wifi disabled. Yesterday I unplugged it at 0630 (at 100% battery), and despite very little use it was totally drained by 4pm. Today I haven't used it at all (as a test) and it looks like it's only going to be fractionally better. When I check the Battery stats for today 'Cell Standby' is at 74% and 'Phone idle' is at 18%. My question is, 3 days into ownership is this poor performance normal or do you think there's a problem with the battery?

Will it be a long time before Verizon drops the price?

Steps to reproduce the problem:
- plug in headset
- lock screen
- press headset button for several seconds
What happened:
- No reaction, Google Now / Voice Actions not launched
- Manually unlock screen
- Long press with unlocked screen correctly launches Voice Search
What you think the correct behaviour should be:
Long press of headset button should launch Google Now / Voice Actions even with locked screen. Having to dig the phone out of your pocket in order to launch Voice Actions with a headset e.g. to place a call kinda defeats the purpose of using Voice Actions in the first place.
Adding insult to injury: long press is not broadcast to other applications because of Google Now, so it can't even be put to good use e.g. as volume control.

Android :: Droid Sqllite Taking Long Time To Complete / Options For Moving To Start Of Result Set?
Nov 2, 2010I am working on building an android app but I'm nothing that my SQL operations are taking forever to complete
I have profiled the app to narrow it down to the act of moving the Cursor to the first row of the result set for a simple select query (only returning 1 row where I'm testing it to eliminate the size of the result set as a problem.
Are there any better options for moving to the start of the result set?

this runs 3 times and i have time it to approximately 2 secs for all the rest of the code or over a minute with this in.
i have also run just the rawQuery statement with out the move to first and its takes bout 18 secs so im looking at the worst part of the code first.

Anyway, the manual that comes with it doesn't really cover that much, and the only information about that battery I can find is on the beginning where it says that it takes about 3 hours to fully charge it. However, it doesn't mention how long you should charge it on your very first usage: until the LED-light turns green, or more (like when I had to charge my old Nokia for 8 hours the first time)? Aug 16, 2010Before I updated to android 2.2 and updated to latest Googlemaps the navigation was perfect. It calculated the route in seconds and was a joy to use. Since the updates, it is taking ages to calculate route, so long in fact that I exit the programme and start again, and then I just give up and dig out my atlas.

HTC Desire :: Unable To Start Wi-fi
Jun 10, 2010Had a wi-fi problem on my htc desire for a while now..
One time I went to turn wi-fi on and it just said "Unable to start wi-fi". It had worked totally fine up until that point.
I've tried doing a factory reset, rooted, updated rom but it's still not working.
When the problem happened I had not rooted the phone or changed anything really.. it just happened.
In logcat it says:

Nov 5, 2010I hope this is the right place to post this.I am using an HTC Desire running Android 2.2 from the Telus OTA update.I wanted to see the OS without the Sense UI so I went through Settings/Applications/Manage Applications select 'All' selected HTC Sense and hit the 'Clear defaults' button, it did nothing when I went back to the home screen, so I went back and 'hit 'Force stop' the phone restarted but was still using the Sense UI so I shut it down and tried to restart it immediately after the screen went black.The phone then vibrated 4 times in a row and did nothing. After that the phone would not start. The only thing I could do was remove the battery for a few seconds put it back in then start the phone up. Now I find the phone has an issue where if I don't give it a few seconds after shutting down it will do the 4 vibrates and then do nothing.The 'Clear defaults' option in the Sense UI is now always blocked out so I can not select it.Has this happened to anyone else? Is the vibrating then becoming a paper weight an issue due to the Sense UI issue or is that normal because I may not be giving it enough time to shut down or something?

Jul 30, 2010I had DJ Droid installed on my desire and I was trying to unroot it and put a stock 2.1 rom on so I could put Froyo OTA once it was released but I didn't get very far!I formatted my spare card sd card and wanted to make a new gold card as out of the two I used I wasn't sure which was the gold card.Whenever I turn on my phone it hangs on the HTC start up screen.I can hold power and volume down and get into HBOOT, go to recovery, volume up and get to Android system recovery <2e> Apply update.zip and it says No Such File even though I put it on but I may of wiped the partition during all this which has removed this file.When I try to mount the micro sd using an adapter and look at the files on it it says 'You need to format the disk in drive G:before you can use it.This happens for both cards. I try to format them but they both fail Anybody ideas apart from leave things how they are in future!
