HTC Desire :: Google Maps Navigation Taking Long Time To Calculate Route?
Aug 16, 2010Before I updated to android 2.2 and updated to latest Googlemaps the navigation was perfect. It calculated the route in seconds and was a joy to use. Since the updates, it is taking ages to calculate route, so long in fact that I exit the programme and start again, and then I just give up and dig out my atlas.

Oct 23, 2013I recently bought a used, but in good condition Optimus V. Not a great phone, but it does what I need. However, in the past couple days I've found that when the phone does its auto-timeout, it takes up to ten seconds for it to switch back on. By that I mean that when I press the power button just to get to the passcode screen (not to turn the whole thing on), it takes much longer than it did when I first got it.
I've uninstalled recent apps, but it's done nothing. What to do?

Nov 2, 2010I am working on building an android app but I'm nothing that my SQL operations are taking forever to complete
I have profiled the app to narrow it down to the act of moving the Cursor to the first row of the result set for a simple select query (only returning 1 row where I'm testing it to eliminate the size of the result set as a problem.
Are there any better options for moving to the start of the result set?

this runs 3 times and i have time it to approximately 2 secs for all the rest of the code or over a minute with this in.
i have also run just the rawQuery statement with out the move to first and its takes bout 18 secs so im looking at the worst part of the code first.

Nov 7, 2010I know a lot of people have been experiencing 4-5 hour time periods for charging the phone. If you want to cut that down to 2 hours or possibly less, just follow my fix steps!
1. Plug phone in
2. Turn Phone Off
3. Wait 5 seconds
4. Turn Phone On
Voila! But i still do the turning the phone off to get the full charge thing. Hope this helps you all!
Android :: Activity Life Cycle - Serialization Taking Too Long
Jul 27, 2009Finally after many days of getting StackOverflowError, I've tracked down the issue and fixed it, only to find that my game's serialization takes about 5 -10 seconds on the emulator and most likely around that in the target. So far my the lifecycle of my game is as follows
onCreate - check if serialization file exists, if it does, de- serializes it. (~ 5-10 seconds) onPause - if the game is not complete, then serialize it (~ 5-10 seconds) I remember reading somewhere that another activity's onResume will NOT get called UNTIL the previous activity's onPause has ended. So I am worried that my game is delaying another activity that wants to start from doing so i.e like a phone call etc. I think speeding up the serialization is not going to be feasible, so any ideas on what I can do? Can I serialize in the onDestroy instead of the onPause? I read that the onPause is the only safest place to store the state.

Aug 12, 2010Just got the phone and loving it so far but im having major issue's with You Tube, Most video's take about 5 mins to load in low quality and in high quality it can take upto 30 mins or more which of course by that time the phone locks and the video has to restart again.
Any suggestions as to why it takes so long? Also is there a setting for video's to automatically start in high quality? And for the phone not to lock?

1) Is there a way to avoid notification sounds to take place during media playback, mainly music player, without having to change my sounds profile to silent, or vibrate?
2) All of a sudden my phone is taking a little long to load SMS conversations. Is there a way to fix that? I feel as though my Snapdragon shouldn't lag when I open a text.

Nov 18, 2009Sometimes it will be 3 hours between when my email arrives in outlook on my pc and when the droid decides to pick it up (even though i press the refesh button for the email on the droid). when it does come in, it records the time the email should have come in. however, sometimes emails will come in within 1-2 minutes of when they hit my outlook box on my pc. my settings are set to recevie new email every 5 minutes.

Oct 14, 2010I have a Desire running Froyo, when I'm using the Google Nav the phone tends to get very hot and (i assume) that upon reaching a certain temperature shuts down and re boots. Usually just when I'm totally lost! If i hold the phone in front of a vent with the air conditioning on to cool down its fine again, if i don't then once the nav is restarted it will shut down the phone again. The air conditioning trick isn't the answer as i have to sit in a freezing cold car in the middle of winter in order to use my sat nav. Is this a fault?

Sep 29, 2010I just bought the phone, and have been charging it for a half hour or so, and it keeps shutting off(or going in sleep mode) while I am trying to set it up.
My first thought is that it needs to charge; I admit, I barely let it charge right out of the box because I am so anxious to use it. Is that the issue? I assumed that even if the batter is at 5-10%, shouldn't it work without issue if it is plugged in to the wall and charging? I will let it charge another hour or so, but I just cannot wait to get my hands on it.

I've rooted it and all but I dont have a backup of the original recovery and unrooted stock ROM (for telus). Today it felt like it was going to catch on fire while it was in my pocket (it wasnt being used as I was in the middle of a class). I figure that I cant wait any longer for Telus to release an update that would allow me to unroot my phone so can anyone who has a stock telus desire please send me a backup of their stock ROM!

Apr 26, 2010For quite a while now, people have been saying how long it takes for me to answer my phone, even though it's usually on my desk and I get there after a couple of rings.
So today I tested it out. I rang my mobile number from my landline, it connected and started ringing, but it got to about six rings before the LED on my mobile started flashing and a further two rings until it started ringing!
I'm on T-Mobile, but it seems to connect OK, just take a while to register on my phone. Obviously this isn't the end of the world, but I use my mobile for business and it doesn't make me look very good!

While I was typing this my phone was turned sideways for the big keyboard, I would select a letter, the letter bubble appears but the letter does not show on screen. In vertical mode the keyboard is fine.

Samsung Fascinate :: 3G Connectivity For Long Time To Stream
Oct 10, 2010I just made the switch from Moto Droid to Samsung fascinate and can't say that I'm all that happy with my decision, No froyo, horrible artifact and color hue, 3 hour charge times, a worse benchmark than my old phone. And on top of that it appears to have terrible reception! While using this phone in the same locations that I had zero problems on the droid, I can't stay connected to 3G to save my life. Youtube and Pandora are useless because I'm not able to keep connection long enough to stream. It has also caused the browser to time out pretty regularly.
