i have the htc hero. how do u personalize text tones with your own ringtone per contact? ex. if i wanted to use a tupac song when my brother texted me. but i wanted to use a wayne newton song when my other brother texted me for his notification. i know how to use them for call ringtones, no problems there.

Everytime I go to Menu-Settings-Personalize- either Scenes, Home wallpaper or Lock screen Wallpaper I get a Force Close. My Sotware information is:

I use Google Voice for all SMS notifications. I use the Gmail application for my email.Does anyone know of an application that will vibrate my phone at a certain interval, e.g., every 2 minutes, until I actually open my phone and acknowledge that I've received the notification?I would LOVE THIS! I used to have a phone that did this and it came in handy. I find that my Incredible's vibrations are a little light, and I often miss important texts when it's on vibrate.
View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I receive a new email, I get multiple notification icons (I believe one for the 'messages' folder and another for the 'email' folder, etc.) With my BB I got one notification for 'messages' and when the message was tagged as read in that overall folder, it was tagged read in the originating folder as well. I don't want to acknowledge the same message multiple times.love this phone and all it does. Leaps and bounds better than my BB in speed, style, and functionality.

But now that I've done that I'd like to remove the 'personalize' button from the Sense bar at the bottom of the screen.
Is this possible? I have little use for it now and would rather it was an Internet button or something similar.
I've had my eris for awhile now, no problems thus far Today, 3 times now I've gotten a text (first using handcent, now chomp) and when I pull down to clear/read it in the notifcations tab, sometimes its disappeared and then when I go into the messaging app, its GONE! WTH? Is there a setting I messed with that is making it do this, or how do I fix it?
I've had to ask people to re-send their text message, that gets pretty old for both of us. I rebooted and have yet to see if that has done anything, I havent gotten a message since I did.
How do I stop the text messages from popping up on the screen and scrolling across the top of the screen when they come in?

I'm having a problem receiving text messages on my HTC Hero. I'm getting a notification alert, but no message. I'm presuming that its not that I have 150 messages (as a dialogue) saved on the phone, as my old bog standard basic Nokia smartphone at present has over 2000 messages saved. So why arent my messages being received?

However, no text is actually copied to the clipboard - I can't paste the text to a contact, etc. Anyone else notice this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis isn't on par with the sidekick loss of data, but unknowingly missing text messages (across the board it seems) and unknowingly missing voicemails (less common, but still prevalent it seems) is a BIG DEAL. Even after I presumably fixed both text and voicemail issues, tested to confirm on both, I was surprised to find a few hours later that neither were working again! And I've not come close to toughing the 40MB limit Sprint is mentioning. I've had 100MB free on my phone the whole time. That's just unacceptable and means to me that some element of this product was released irresponsibly into the free market before it was ready. If there are fatal flaws associated with the use of task killers, or other 3rd party apps, this needs to be understood and communicated to the consumer.
As much as I LOVE Sense UI and the Hero in general, I'm porting back to my month-to-month Verizon plan to wait out the storm. Losing basic, critical phone functionality is NOT an option for me.
That's a real bummer for me because the Hero is *easily* my favorite phone on the market. Sense UI is forward looking, and I believe a bar-raiser for other companies, Apple included. But as much as I hate to give it up, it does sort of feel good to be back on the sidelines again, free to jump on the Passion (Dragon) or the like in the near future.
I thought this was supposed to be a huge feature in 2.1, am I missing the option to activate it? Was hoping to dictate texts and email, but I don't see the mic symbol on my input keyboard, and a cursory search of google nets results that point toward menu options that don't exist on my hero...
View 49 Replies View RelatedI was texting a friend today when an android pop up error message appeared saying that the program had to be closed down.
This has happened in the past. However, today it also deleted all of my text messages, something which has never happened before.
I upgraded to the latest htc stable build a few weeks ago and this has never happened before. Thankfully, I never had any important text messages to lose. Though I am concerned that this may happen in the future and I will lose some important information (e.g. a friends address, phone number of whatever).
About an hour or so later I made a call and it closed down with a similar error message. No contact details or anything like that have been list but again, I'm concerned that it happened at all.
Is there a good speech to text app for the htc hero at this time? I also read that handcent has this but i downloaded handcent sms (new) and do not see anywhere that will enable me to use the speech to text once I open it to send a message.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIm a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !
