May 8, 2010I type adb remount into terminal emulator & it says adb permission denied...is this normal ..how to make it allow access?

Then nothing the cursor moves down a line but stops me entering anymore comands, any idea's?

Oct 1, 2010Something strange is going on here. I've removed and re-seated the SD card but when the phone boots up it says theres a problem and SD will be read only. Settings->Phone/SD storage says read only. Dropbox won't download anything because it cant find the SD card. However, EStrongs File Explorer and Root Explorer say it is read/write.
I think this happened because yesterday I put the sd card in my computer and the SD adapter I use automatically goes to 'read only' with a tab on the side when you push it in. I had put some tape on it to prevent that but I suppose it got loose, so I can't modify my SD card till I get home and can fix it with the SD adapter. Unless someone knows of a way to do it in the phone....

Jul 22, 2010I'm attempting to remove certain files from the SD image mounted on the emulator.

$ adb remount
remount succeeded

$ adb shell rm -f /sdcard/maps/*
rm failed for -f, Read-only file system
From all the docs I've read, remount is supposed to toggle between read-write/read-only permissions. But that doesn't seem to work in this case. Any idea what's wrong? Using Windows XP, emulator is running Android SDK 1.6 (with Google Maps APIs).
Android :: Adb Remount Fails On 1.5
May 13, 2009I have upgraded my phone's images to Android 1.5 images (from http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html) Now when I try commands like adb remount, chmod, adb push etc I get "Operation not permitted" and "Permission denied" errors
I was able to give this command when I had 1.0 images flashed on my phone.
Has something related to permissions changed with Android 1.5?

Aug 4, 2010I just got a new incredible (upgrade from eris) and I just rooted it using unrevoked. I tried to use adb like I am used to doing with my eris but it seems I do not have root permission (although I do have super user app and its working from what I can tell).?

General :: Acer A200 - Manually Rooted But Can't Remount System?
Feb 4, 2012I've got an Acer A200 that is running the leaked version of ICS 4.0.3
Utilizing saurik's mempodroid I am able to exploit the kernel (2.6.39.4+) and gain root, but I cannot remount /system. I've tried quite a few different mount commands and they all result in the same error "mount: Operation not permitted".Here are the mount commands I've tried:

Sep 13, 2009I can see the root within native file managers, but I am unaware of a way to see it from my PC, is there SSH or something similar I can use?
What are useful folders to know? Like where apps are stored and can be customized, files I can mod or anything else of interest.

Aug 28, 2009I got my HTC Hero this morning - its my first smartphone and I am very impressed. I saw some fairly damning reviews online, but when I trialled it I was hooked. Superb device A+ so far, except for this little problem which I think is probably linked to my Laptop rather than the Hero... I have plugged it into my Laptop via USB. Vista found the drivers, installed all well and good. However, if I click on Removable Disk (F I get an error stating that there is no disk in the drive and please insert one. I've tried re-installing the drivers using the ones available online, and nothing. I've also installed HTC Sync which simply doesn't find the device despite being plugged in. The Hero reckons it is connected, complete with USB symbol and HTC sync symbol. So what have I done wrong? I've tried all the obvious ones - reinstalling drivers, different USB port, turning both off and on again (many times), uninstalling, reinstalling etc etc....

Mar 7, 2010Just wondering if there is a way out of my situation, last night I installed the latest recovery image (RA-hero-v1.5.3.1), prior to that I put the latest Villian Rom on to update, but I think I messed things up, with some of the new menus in the Recovery rom as I accidently hits a few things Messages I'm getting are on almost every option I try is : E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0 (no such file or directory)and E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/If I try any other options aswell I get "Error: Run 'bart' via adb" which is no good when I get the adb messages as for some reason my windows 7 pc has stopped detecting the phone in adb mode?! The normal Hero bootloader get's detected fine in windows, is there anything I can do here to restore the system. I think some messages flashed by saying missing image! Which don't sound good.UPDATE: Some more details: was messing around with the new partition options in the recovery menu, wasn't meant to actually use them but one of them went through and done some partitioning or something, so I think I screwed it up there somehow. Maybe my SD card needs formatting in a certain way(which I don't know), I have my original SD card contents backed up with nandroid backup but was done with an older version of the recovery image. Also, when I mount the SD card in Windows there is one partition that I cannot remove or format etc. hope all this helps in a solution.Any ideas on how I can fix this? Sorry for lack of phone details, as I can't get any info due to no rom being installed.But it's a HTC Hero, SIM Free, Not sprint, Latest kernel as im aware, latest recovery image(recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.3.1.img).

Aug 9, 2010What is the best way to tell if you lost your root access? I updated my from darch 2.7 to 2.8, and just wanna make sure all is still good. I did it from the Darch updater via my phone. The adjust brightness program that that requires root access works but wireless tether doesn't seem to work. Does my have to be a certain level for the tether to work? It was at 14 percent or some thing like that.

Nov 10, 2009Had the phone for 3 months now, things are going downhill. The trackball now only works in one direction , this. Is annoying but I don't use it much. The update is buggy . Problems now with WiFi and mobile connection widgets not working. While changing in settings works. Search facility in landscape unusable. Messages access slows and freezes. All in all its loosing its sparkle.
