Sprint HTC Hero :: No Weather - Market - FB Access After Rooting
Jun 30, 2010I just rooted my phone yesterday using the method suggested above (xml dev or something like that).. and noticed that my weather never showed up on my home screen. then, after work, i tried to get into my Assistant Free/PageOnce app, also Market & FB.. but says network's not available..
Did i do something wrong? is tethering required after rooting to maintain network access? my texts and calls come through ok. i honestly don't remember if i received my daily agenda via e-mail or not today.

Sep 9, 2009In an act of pure evil and cruelty my other half closed my gmail account completely (because I forgot to do something important for her) and now every 2 mins it says please enter you gmail password/unable to access gmail account.And also I cannot access Android Market.In the new update that is about to be released, have they fixed the issue of being able to sign in and out and use multiple accounts? Or do you have to do a factory reset everytime you want to use a new account?

Jul 27, 2010I know there was another thread on this topic that linked to the XDA forum but that thread is more about loading a specific kernel to enable AP Tether. I like Hydra's new kernels and you can do the same thing with them as well. I attempted to install the newest version of Wireless Tether from the market but it did not allow AP mode. So I found it's necessary, as verified elsewhere, to install the (wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk) version.
Once I did this and added the bin file, it worked great. WPA2 security is also included in this version. So to make it easy, I just created a zip that's already called Android.tether and has the required .apk and .bin already inside for AP Tether. This is not supported with the stock kernel, check to see if your kernel of choice supports it if you are in question. I can for sure verify the Hydra OCUV 1.113 ghz v0.8 kernels.

Jun 30, 2010what exactly does access control do on the wireless tether app, and how do i set it up? i would think it locks out all but the mac addresses you specify, but even when i have it enabled it seems to let everyone in (tested with both my laptop and ipod touch)...

Sep 22, 2010Finally broke down and rooted tonight.Picked up Wireless Tether from the market, had everything set kept getting limited access messages on my laptop.Did some searching and came across the solution to manually download the apk and a .bin file and put it in the android.tether directory on sd card.Was finally able to connect from my laptop.However, my connection is limited to "local only".I have tried using the access control, disabling access control, turning on encryption, disabling encryption, etc.Every time I connect, local only.I've flushed my IP info on the laptop and still local only.What do I need to do to get full access?

Jun 6, 2010I am trying to connect my desire to a Netgear Rangemax Wireless Access Point WPN802 v2. This is on an independent network where I work. Basically I am trying to look smart by controlling machinery using a VNC app on the phone. I have full access rights to the netgear, the desire picks can see it, but when I try and connect it just says obtaining IP address unsuccessful. I have tried manually setting a static IP address in the phone to match the network, but just the same result. I am starting to question whether the phone just wont connect or I am not set right. What makes matters worse is my mates Iphone hooks up to the network almost straight away with no real fiddling of settings.

Nov 4, 2010I have a samsung galaxy S i9000, and the mobile access point is activated, I can successfully connect to it using my laptop but when I try to connect using my other mobile (ex: Nokia) to the Galaxy's mobile access point on the target device it says the wireless connection is lost and on the Galaxy the mobile access point is deactivated automatically, is this a limitation that the other device cannot be a WiFi mobile (Which I don't think)? OR is this a bug in Galaxy's mobile access point.

May 27, 2010Between looking around here and on androidzoom, I found a couple of apps I want. Problem when I use myphone to access the market, it says that they aren't there. Specifically, I am looking for Launcherpro beta and Adobe Reader. If I find them in androidzoom and scan the barcode its not there either. Short of rooting my phone to install market enabler, is there anything else I can do ?? Or are these not appearing because they won't run on 1.6 ?
