View 2 RepliesI tried the 2.2 root process. short and sweet is (oh an i am pretty new) downgrade 2.2 to 2.1.. bunch of command line stuff.. install usb drivers, open program to flash and it reboots the phone, then more command line stuff, then installs custom 2.2 and you are now rooted...
I got to where i install the custom usb drivers and open the reflash program.. all it does is go to the bootloader and sit there. i said screw it and was going to just reinstall 2.2 and be done with the ATTEMPT of rooting until a 1 click type came out.. problems is, now i cant even install 2.2... sits at the bootloader screen..
Called Sprint and they tried to help me do a factory reset by going to the phone app and typing ##87# or something. when i hit reset it was supposed to show a screen thats wiping and reinstalling or something. nothing happen.
Stuck at that frikin bootloader screen again
So here is what i think happened and i need help fixing it.. i installed a newer bootloader or older one or something and the new 2.2 is having a hard time getting past it or i just completely screwed it all up.
I am currently on 2.1 and all is working fine but i cant upgrade or anything.
What are my options and how do i get this back to 2.2? would love to try and root it and be done. or just plug it into the pc and reinstall everything back to factory but i am coming from the iPhone where that is possible and i guess you cant on HTC. fine with me.
I have installed PC Companion but every 2-3 days it announce me a new update for my phone X10mini.Is it possible to know which bugs are fixed in each update before proceeding ?Is there a way to save all data before upgrading and restore after upgrading ? (sms, sounds, accounts, software, note, alert, phonebook etc)

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade from VillainROM 5.4 to 10 but not having too much joy. Do I follow the same procedure as I did when going from the stock Orange/HTC ROM to 5.4 or is it a bit more in-depth? I am unable to run the Amon RA recovery image software as it says "backup failed: could not run command". Titanium Backup isn't doing anything apart from giving me an "SU request" notice (even when I've tried to d/l Busybox).
View 18 Replies View RelatedWith 2.1 update fairly imminent, I thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade my SD card to a 4gb or even 8gb. I have had my Hero since November and love it, but I noticed recently I have just about filled my 2gb card with data.So ... what is the process involved? Is it simply a case of connecting to my PC, creating a folder and dragging the lot >>> swapping the card in the phone >> then dragging it all back onto the new card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk I'm looking to install new/bigger memory card (1gb to 8gb sdhc) for more memory after maintenance. I'm currently running Aloysious 2.0.9 Maps, looking to run new Custom ROM after my Sprint Store Visit. My vibrate mode stop working recently, so I'm gonna take back to Sprint cuz its still under warranty. I know I have to Unroot first before i take back, so i will. Do i Unroot to the 2.27 OR the 2.31 stock ROM? Will i be able to ROOT back to a new Custom ROM like LiquidSense 2.1, CM6, or aospMod v0.9.7. How/What files do i need to transfer over from my old card to new card after or before i flash new Custom ROM.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am brand new to Android and have a question about upgrading from the stock 2GB card to an 8GB class 6. I am rooted on 2.1 and want to flash my first custom ROM. What I want to know is when I get my new card will I have to re-root all over again or will I be able to just copy the data from my stock card to my pc then copy it back over to my new card? The root process was simple enough, however I would like to not have to go through the process over again if I don't have to.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to upgrade my ROM from the 1.7v. I dl'd the RUU file and did everything as required. However, when the bootloader tries to connect I get a prompt, "ERROR[171]:USB Connection ERROR". It asks me to make sure that the phone is connected to the USB cable and for the USB cable to be connected to the PC. Both are connected but I noticed that the phone is powered off. It will not power back on while connected. It will once I disconnect it from USB cable. This leads me to believe that the phone starts to do what it is supposed to but somehow disconnects.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was running Fresh 1.1+Gumbo and decided to take the plunge. I made my android backup, and backed up all my apps+system files with Titanium Backup and then flashed to Fresh 2.1.1. My question now is, how do I restore all my apps that I backed up. Do I just re-install the app from the market? And then use that to restore my old apps? Any help would be appreciated. Also... how do I enable apposed in 2.1.1 in the notes, flips stated it's turned off by default. I'd like to turn that on. I like me lots of apps, and would rather have them on my SD card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been running Damages Rom for a while. I like the Rom and have been upgrading as the releases have come out. I worked a lot of hours and skipped a coiple before the last one. I flashed the update with a wipe, took 30min. first boot like it was supposed to. Takes 15 every time since. I've not found any mention of this in the forums. Is it just my phone or are there others?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?
can anyone help me with finding the amen ra recovery image theunlockr.com tells you to download when rooting your hero, had a look on amen ra's page and can't find it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if I root my HTC Hero on Sprint and then load 2.2 if it will have any problems. Like can the hardware on the Hero run 2.2? I know most of the devices that are going to run 2.2 have a 1GHZ processor and a lot more internal memory than my Hero does. I am only thinking about doing this because 2.1 on Hero is so glitchy, but I love the 2.1 apps. Any help?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Telus version of the HTC Hero. Coming from an iPhone, I've been through some of the 'root/jailbreak' scenes, so most things are familiar. However, making the transition to the Anrdoid OS, there's many things I'm not understanding. Currently the Hero is running 1.5 (can that be updated). I tried running Instant Root and it failed. So I tried the Gold Card method (Eh, not too bad) and no luck with that. I'm not sure where to start, since the guides mentioned in the stickies for root don't work for me. I'm just a confused newbie with the Android customization scene.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've tried a couple methods today, manual as well as the Fresh Kitchen 1054, and I'm getting stuck with both. I'd probably prefer the manual method so let's troubleshoot that I get through most the steps found here (and I believe I've followed them exactly, to the letter): How-To Root a Sprint Hero But when I enter the code for #6: /data/local /asroot2 /system/bin/sh My system returns: [1] killed /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh It simply won't continue past that point. Ideas please?
View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently got a HTC Hero on 3 that came with the latest 2.73 firmware (unfortunately) and the flashrec and instantroot.apk methods both failed. So now i'm looking at the Goldcard way. Unfortunately when it comes to the step where you goto Free G1 goldcard generation ! to put in your email and CID I just get a duff page which says About, Download, Support Forum. All of these links take you to the PSAS website and I cannot see anywhere where you can put these details in.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a hero on orange. I have managed to root the phone and can download root apps etc.
I am struggling to get a new rom ( can anyone recommend) downloaded. i have installed an app called "rom manager" which gives me the option to install rom from SD card. I have or think i have a villian 10 rom in zip format which i have on the root of my SD card.
It is recognised when I search on rom manager gives me 2 options to backup and wip/clear cache and says press ok to complete install.
I press ok and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? should the rom file be zipped and if not can anyone give me a few short steps from here?
