Just curious if anyone else has noticed the trackball and buttons randomly turning on and off or not coming on at all? Before the update I think they turned on when used...it doesn't bother me though just kind of weird..

is there an option to turn this off or limit the time as you can for the screen...this is not normal bc i just watched several utube videos and their button lights turn off when user is just doing touch screen stufff....pls help. this may be a setback from updated to 2.1 leak

1: It was on standby
and
2: There was no change in the lighting where I was

Ive noticed that when i get a text the trackball lights up, but not when i get an email, where are the settings for this? can it be turned on/off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this really crappy eye disorder I inherited genetically. It means my ability to see low light when other light is on is really poor. It's called Retinues Pigmentation. When the screen of my HTC Hero is on, I can't see the physical buttons at the bottom at all, they just come across too dark to me in contrast to the light screen. What would be really be ideal is for the buttons to stay on as long as the screen is on. Basically, if the screen is lit, so are the buttons. I know this would deplete energy, but it would be totally worth it for me. Do you think there is any way I could implement this, and is there someone I could mention it to for the future?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my hero over the weekend and maybe I just didn't notice it until now. The bottom button/trackball plate seems to have a little looseness or play in it. If I push it left/right or up/down it moves a slight amount. It doesn't feel like it would pop off but its something I just noticed today. Or do I have to take it in to sprint for a replacement?

I tried the lock screen and ended up locking my phone out due to too many tries in my pocket and ending up having to reset my phone to use again. Even with the lock screen on, the menu button still turn the phone on.

Last night I turned it off and 20-30 minutes later it powered itself back on. Is this because I need to log out of apps? (facebook, gtalk, etc) Or is there some option I'm just not finding?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've recently been having an issue where my Mobile Data randomly does not work. When I go to settings, it is checked as enabled. I have to uncheck and recheck this to get it to 'turn back on' or refresh.I haven't been able to see a pattern yet for why it's turning off, but it seems to sometimes do it after it goes to sleep. I have tried enabling 'Always On' for the data connection, but this doesn't help.

Both were asleep and when I wake both up mine lights up but on hers it doesnt. I am not sure if there is a setting or something that I am doing wrong. She is on stock froyo and I am using redemption rom 2.0.4 but I am not sure that has anything to do with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy Express i437, I used Odin v3.7 to root and flashed the CM11 ROM with ClockWorkMod recovery. Everything works fantastic, its so much faster than OEM 4.1 Jellybean! I bought it just to practice root & ROM for my first try (dont wanna brick my S4)....not bad for a cheap 4G Wal-Mart go-phone i'd say.
The only issue I found so far is that the external LED lights (menu and back) flicker non-stop, wasting a little bit of battery. It always stops the flickering by locking the device one more time, but sometimes I dont notice it when its laying around and it takes a toll on the power. Is there a way to fix it, and how would I fix it? I am just now learning about Terminal Emulator commands, and sideloading and whatnot. I do have the LED Light Flow APK controlling the lights on my S4, maybe it is obsolete for the i437 since I didnt notice LED notifications.
rooting and flashing with this same exact device, let me know, it was so easy to use ClockWorkMod recovery instead of TWPR because of my 64GB SD card format (EXT-4)? iirc
The clock is still to bright in night mode and the button lights stay on still. I have updated to 2.1 and was hoping it had been fixed of someone found a work around for this.

How do you make it so the bottom buttons, (menu, home, back and search) stay lit longer? Thats a real pain that they time out so quick. How much battery could they possibly take!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found ( and I willing to bet many already know this) that the sensor in the upper right side of the screen is what determines if the button lights are on or off. In a well lit room the lights will be off, if you cover that sensor or darken the room the lights come on.
What we need is someone smarter than I am to make an app or widget that disables that sensor when the phone is in the dock, if that is possible.
Does anyone know if there is a tab button (or functional equivalent) for switching between form fields on a webpage. For example, when I log into a site the keyboard comes up for me to enter my login name. After I enter it I have to minimize the keyboard, click on the password box, enter the password, and then press enter. I've noticed that the trackball works a bit but is there an easier way?

Battery life has been just fine(And thats with the system at 100% lol), and the apps are amazing. But I have a question. I noticed there's two LED lights at the top of the phone. Yet I've only ever seen one light up! Is this how it is for everyone else? Only my left one lights up(green for texts, and amber for charging). And my friend's G1's Scroll Wheel also lights up, and was just wondering why ours doesn't.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to use my HTC for an alarm clock because then i could save the electricity that my old alarm clock uses. Sometimes i wake up and have a look at my alarm clock but now i have to reach over and get the phone and press a button to get it to light up...very bright in the middle of the night. SO....What i was thinking. If i buy a charger stand for my hero is it somehow possible to tell the phone to run the screen lights on lowest light setting when it is charging... This way i would be able to se the clock without being blinded. IF this is not an option would someone please pass this on to goggle/htc as a request or tell me how i do it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my HTC Hero, I have tried some applicationes from market, all from top 100. But suddenly, LED get dead, don't work for incoming calls, charge, and notifications, also background lights in buttons and trackball not work. I have set factory reset twice, and a hard reset, I have change de SD card. No way, led still dead. All other functions works fine.
Anybody have the same problem? any idea or solution. I have sent a email to HTC I'll wait a response.
My search button on my Dinc randomly stopped working today. It lights up and when I press it, I do in fact receive the haptic feedback. It just doesn't do anything. Is there a setting somewhere I might have screwed up somehow? I haven't changed anything and I did try rebooting a few times.

I'm guessing it's a software issue possibly because when I push the button to put my screen to sleep it always works. Also, the same thing happened to my old iPhone 3g all the time.

I also have a tendency to hit the snooze button quite a few times before I can get my lazy butt out of bed. I've noticed on 3 occasions now that when the alarm is going off and I try to hit snooze button or "dismiss" button and it's not available. So the alarm is going off and I'm frantically trying to find a button to shut it off. Pressing every button doesn't work so I have to finally shut the phone off. Has anyone else had this issue as well? I've tried to replicate it sitting in front of me a few minutes ago and I can't do it.On one occasion, I noticed that I got a text message when I was trying to find the "dismiss" button. NOt sure if the text message alert had something to do with it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOkay so I know you can turn the screen ON with the Track Pad. Using a custom ROM. I have my phone set up this way, but is there an app out there that allows you to turn it OFF again, again using the track pad?
It seems weird that you can do one, but not the other, and I'd rather just press the button facing me, than have to pick my phone up to use the power button. Just to kill the screen.
so i have factory reseted my phone twice and used wakelock and i cant find a solution. looked through forums and found possible answers but all failed. i press the lock button on the right side then after about two seconds it turns right back on. when it sleeps again it turns right back on .. i have not found a solution to it. i have the 4.3 jellybean on it. the only solution that sometimes works is a lock screen app that i downloaded from the play store. but it really sucks when i get a message the screen turns on right then after it goes off then turns right back on .. so if i miss any notification it drains my battery because my phone wont stay off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyways, whenever i'm listening to music, and I press the play/pause button on my headset to control my music tracks, my phone turns on. This get's really annoying because every time my phone turns on, it stays on for a few seconds, and this really kills battery life. I've tried lurking around my phone's settings and even my launcher settings.
My phone is a rooted HTC Wildfire S running AOKP custom rom with Nova Launcher Prime. And if it makes any difference, I'm using the "Start" lock screen from the Play Store.
