The first day I got my Epic I saw the option for it and I know I read a thread about it too but now I can't find either! How do you make it so the bottom buttons, (menu, home, back and search) stay lit longer? Thats a real pain that they time out so quick. How much battery could they possibly take!

I cant seem to find a setting that will allow me to keep the bottom four buttons lit for longer (setting, home, return, and search). They dont stay lit and it drives me nuts trying to guess which one I am hitting! By the way, this is my ONLY complaint about this device. I am madly in love with it.

I have a layout that has a button I would like to always be on the bottom of the scree of my phone. The problem is android:layout_gravity="bottom" only puts it at the below the rest of the layout, rather than the very bottom of the screen.Is there a way around this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedCut a small 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch square of black tape and place it over the light sensor in the upper left corner just to the left of the verizon logo and the soft key lights stay on when the screens on and they turn off when you turn the screen off. Works perfectly and really doesn't look that bad.

However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.

I'm trying to figure out how to change the icons at the bottom of the screen but I'm failing miserably at it...or I'm beginning to think that it's just not possible?
Specifically I'm wanting to change the Messaging icon out to be the one for Handcent (or any other messaging icon other than stock). Yes, I realize I can set it to point to use Handcent by default, but when you initially open it, it doesn't start to use Handcent initially, only once you go into conversations does it start to use the Handcent application.
Is there a way to do this like there is on the other Galaxy devices or is this completely locked down on the Epic and I need to download another UI in order to change this?
i saw a video back when i was debating between evo and epic, and it showed me how to change those bottom 4 buttons (PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGING APPLICATIONS). i figure phone and contacts kinda go hand in hand so its a waste, and i use HANDCENT. now that i have the phone i cant figure out how to do it to save my life. anyone have any ideas?
The same feature also allowed you to swap around the applications view, and delete unused home pages. i dont need 7 pages id be fine with 4 or 5 (multicon FTW)
I've had this phone since release day, and I've never had the need to press this button. I wish it was the power button instead so much because right now it's just taking up physical space for no reason.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the sound doesn't work for my text when I type or swype. I've turned on ALL sounds possible. (It still vibrates.) I can hear all the other sound effects and can hear the typing if I switch to Android Keyboard. But I like Swype!

I know on the iphone when a message comes in the screen lights up and it shows the message... On the droid razr it only vibrates or makes a noise when on loud. View 16 Replies View RelatedJust picked this up yesterday and I'm very impressed. This is my first droid phone and it blows away the other phones I've owned in the past. Not really a fan of the iPhone and have been on AT&T forever..it's time for a change. My last phone was a Nokia E72 which is a great phone, but wanted more! Gonna put that on E-bay soon hah.
The only complaints I have so far are the notification sounds are quiet even at the max volume setting. The Nokia E72 is a lot louder both in ringtone and sms tones. Also, the four buttons on the bottom sometimes don't respond. I find I have to occasionally hit the same button a couple times to get it to work. Very minor tho imo. It's not too frequent.
can you have separate sounds for email and txt messages? Currently seems to be lumped together.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this really crappy eye disorder I inherited genetically. It means my ability to see low light when other light is on is really poor. It's called Retinues Pigmentation. When the screen of my HTC Hero is on, I can't see the physical buttons at the bottom at all, they just come across too dark to me in contrast to the light screen. What would be really be ideal is for the buttons to stay on as long as the screen is on. Basically, if the screen is lit, so are the buttons. I know this would deplete energy, but it would be totally worth it for me. Do you think there is any way I could implement this, and is there someone I could mention it to for the future?

Both were asleep and when I wake both up mine lights up but on hers it doesnt. I am not sure if there is a setting or something that I am doing wrong. She is on stock froyo and I am using redemption rom 2.0.4 but I am not sure that has anything to do with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy Express i437, I used Odin v3.7 to root and flashed the CM11 ROM with ClockWorkMod recovery. Everything works fantastic, its so much faster than OEM 4.1 Jellybean! I bought it just to practice root & ROM for my first try (dont wanna brick my S4)....not bad for a cheap 4G Wal-Mart go-phone i'd say.
The only issue I found so far is that the external LED lights (menu and back) flicker non-stop, wasting a little bit of battery. It always stops the flickering by locking the device one more time, but sometimes I dont notice it when its laying around and it takes a toll on the power. Is there a way to fix it, and how would I fix it? I am just now learning about Terminal Emulator commands, and sideloading and whatnot. I do have the LED Light Flow APK controlling the lights on my S4, maybe it is obsolete for the i437 since I didnt notice LED notifications.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason the four buttons at the bottom aren't as sensitive as the touch screen. When tapping on icons on the touch screen, i can pretty much just use my finger nail, but to get the button on the bottom to consistently respond, I have to push and hold with my entire thumb. Anyone else have this problem? Is there some way to turn up the sensitivity?

Given that this is the main screen and not one of the capacitive buttons, I find this behavior very strange.
