I installed Chompsms and I cannot figure out how to stop the default "messages"'s notifications...
Simple question but I can't figure it out.
Handcent worked fine before i updated to 2.1 but ever since then i cant get the default sms to stop popping up when i get new messages. I have already unchecked every setting in the default app. Is there another setting i am forgetting to mess with??

View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since upgrading to custom roms a few months ago, I seem to be susceptible to WAP Push Messages.
These are like text messages but the icon is a little globe with a download arrow and a 'W'. Its basically a text containing a web link. "He Me In My Teen Bedroom! Free" was the last message I got, but without the censorship.
There seems to be no option other than to delete the message, go to the web link or view the message details. (Phone number, time of day it arrived etc.)Does anyone know how to stop these annoying messages?
i installed this rom earlier and started of loving it and then messenger force closed and again and again so i then ended all programs using auto killer and went back in to messanger and it worked for long enough to send a txt and then failed again. the application messages(process com.android.mms) has stoped working unexpectedly.please try again

I've been using sms popup for over a week now and haven't had a problem until yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and If they have sms pop-up or is it a Sprint or Hero thing? TIA for any insight or solutions.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed a new sms app and love it, the problem is that I can't get the proprietary message application on the Hero to stop retrieving all messages. It doesn't help to have cool features like blacklist, if you can't use them because the original app just logs the threads anyway. How do you turn off or uninstall the original message program, I would prefer to just get rid of it and free up the space. Any ideas???

View 1 Replies View RelatedYou know how you can click on "send message" in People?
and it used to as how do you want to send the txt msg - through the phone's msg app or through google's GV app
well... I've clicked "set as default" (or was it "use this method from now on" - anyway, words to that effect) and now i can't change it!!
anyone know how to change the default?
(and before anyone says "menu" or "long press" - i've already tried it!!)
((also - I've already tried uninstall/reinstall GV from the mkt --- a few times))
For some reason, ever since I upgraded my HTC Hero to the latest Rom today, I have received two message tones and notifications for every text message I receive. I don't know why this has started happening as no new apps have been installed apart from those that were erased during the upgrade.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Bugles Beast V.04 with the Bugles evolution theme on my Droid and just about every day or every other day I get the OTA updates to get 2.2/Adobe. View 4 Replies View RelatedI know enough typing has been done about how to disable double notifications from the default messaging app when you install another one and i apologize for being repetitive but i have been looking for days and i am unable to do so in my phone. I recently got a Samsung Behold 2 for T-Mobile, it runs on Android 1.5 and it is my first android phone. I downloaded Hand cent which i love and is way better than the default sms app but i keep getting double notifications every time i get a new message and it is so annoying. I have tried the steps from other posts to resolve the issue but i am unable to stop it. I go to the default sms app on my samsung but there is no option to stop notifications. When i click menu and then settings i get a couple options like Text Message, Picture Message, Voice Mail etc. When i go to Text Message the only thing there is Sending options and Text Message center and that is it. No notifications or anything like it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know you can rename outraces.zip to cancel the notification, but I have heard that makes the phone think the update is corrupt and it continuously tries to download it. I would like to have Velocity 0.2 on my phone but I cannot stand the constant nagging to update. I have tried flashing VZB and going back and the notifications still appear. Has anyone managed to stop the notifications?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to turn off the LED notification for Gmail? I went into the LED options and unchecked "Email," but I'm not sure if that's just for the "Email" app itself, and not Gmail. I still get the LED flash when I have new Gmail, but it doesn't seem to happen *every* time! I still want the notification icon to appear, so I don't want to turn off Gmail notification altogether. I already turned off sound, now I just need to turn off the LED.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Motorola Droid and I'm greatly pleased with it, but I'm having one minor problem with the Gmail app that's tedious and slightly annoying. I wanted to see if anyone else has the same problem and how you've fixed it. Whenever I get a new email, the notification appears properly. I click it, it takes me to the email. The notification stays there and does not go away like it should. I have to go back to the notification again and either clear notifications or access the email a second time. Any ideas as to why I'm getting two of the exact same notifications?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would LOVE to have any of my LED flash notifications from missed calls, text messages, or voice-mails flash continously UNTIL I acknowledge or clear them. Right now, the notifications flash for a few minutes then time-out.
1. Does anyone know how I can keep these notifications flashing until I clear them WITHOUT a 3rd party app? If so, please do tell... If not, what app would you suggest?
2. Lastly out of curiosity, anyone have a clue what the "pre-determined" time frame is before the flashing times itself out?
Running the #TrinityKernel with a stock version of #jellybean (rooted, 4.1.2)?
Every few days (longest was 4 days between reboots), all my background notifications stop. This doesn't happen when using this kernel with either CM10 or Paranoid Android. A reboot fixes it temporarily.
My custom recovery is TWRP and I originally unlocked my bootloader and rooted my GNex manually using Arch Linux.
I installed handcent and really really like it but how do I stop the default messaging app from popping up with alerts for new texts. It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Droid running Eclair 2.1 that I rooted a few weeks back. Today I received the auto-update notice on my device, but I don't want to just go ahead with it and lose root access. So I am hoping someone can tell me how I should handle this. I would like to update, but only if I can keep root access as I have overclocked and run a number of other root-only apps. Here is my device info... I'll try to provide as much as I can. I used the instructions listed HERE to root my device, and HERE to overclock. Also, will it be necessary to wipe all my data to perform this update and re-root? And if it turns out that I am not ready to update right now, is there a way to stop the automatic notifications?

I'm new to this forum. I tried searching for the answer on both Google and multiple forums but the key words of 'Stop, app, update, notifications' tends to find a lot of hits or none at all if in quotes. I found this question posted perfectly at the droid forums.net but with no answer so I thought I would post it here with the hope that someone can find an answer.
