So I'm trying to figure out how I can get English (United States) set up on my new Hero. I've looked through the Locale Text settings and found a few English settings, but they were all for Poland or Czech or wherever, no US. With my current setting, it connects me to UK versions of sites, and apps like ShopSavvy returns products in Pounds. I want USD please.Does anyone have a solution for this?

My application has resources files in English and French and works on Android 1.5 and >.
Inside the emulator, in Settings > Locale & Text > Select Locale, I can choose English or French. This updates the language of my application.
However, when I use the Android Dev Phone 1, only English is available in the "Select Locale" screen...
Is it possible to install french locale on Android Dev Phone 1 ? If so, how can I do this ?
Is there a way to slow down the gps update setting on locale? It seems to check about every 4 - 5 mins or so for me. is there a way to slow it down? I fear it is killing my battery

when I explore my newly bought mobile phone I realized that my Keyboard only has chinese keyboard. In my oppinion, this chinese keyboard is not user friendly and hard to use. so I tried to change any settings that related to keyboard and language but still my Keyboard still in chinese. When I streamed at youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxAHM6epz8U) the Keyboard has an english version (but my keyboard is not the same as in the video above). I googled for a while and found no reference for this. Please can anyone help me or experience the same problem as me? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app that will allow me to set up different profiles for phone settings that can be switched easily by choosing a "profile" from a list.I DON'T want Locale. i want to be able to do this by choosing from a list, NOT based on my location.For example, a user could set up a Power Saver profile, a Power User profile, an Online Profile, etc. Each of these profiles should be customizable. For example, I should be able to customize the "Power Saver" profile to the power settings I want (ie. Screen brightness, WiFi off, Bluetooth Off, Syncing Off, etc).Is there anything like this? Ideally I'm hoping for something that has a free version, as I am in Canada and we can't get paid apps yet.For the record, I am using Useful Switchers, but I don't want to have to go through all the various steps each time I want to go back and forth from power saving and using my phone online.

If I have my ringer on, its supposed to override that if I am located within the location on the condition? Can someone please explain more detail how it works. All languages are supplied the standard way via the values resource directory. However, I don't want Android to select which resource directory to use but let the user decide instead. Any ideas how to accomplish that? The rationale for this: - some languages are not supported by the Android framework and can not be selected as a locale via the system settings - if you buy a phone in Spain, it will typically not have a system setting for Russian language, if you purchase in Russia, you will have that setting. So a Russian person in Spain would prefer using the Russian language included with the app, but can't access it

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs you can assume, its not working for me, not at all. My status in notifications says No active situations--Locale is monitoring your conditions. I have set a situation for work for home and even a 'test' situation. I added then deleted the defaults, I have added and deleted the locations, made sure I let the app 'find' each location, and even tried going by time alone, and it STILL won't come on. my gps is on, all locations setting are on, but that doesnt explain why it would not work by time setting. I have tried turning each situation off and on and re-adjusting the order of priority. I don't know what I am missing.
I was totally mortified today in a meeting at work, with four Korean engineers from Samsung, when my ringer (which I should have doubled checked anyway) does not go to vibrate, or even to my work ringtone as the 'situation' was set for both to occur, but instead starts blasting, at full volume, the theme from Team America World Police. I managed to silence it halfway through the first verse, but that was bad enough.
I downloaded Locale recently and it looks like a good app. I have set it to turn on my Wifi shortly before I get up in the morning to allow it to download some files (Guardian App and hopefully some podcasts). I've set Guardian to only download the newspaper via Wifi. For some reason Locale doesn't seem to be able to switch the Wifi on unless I awake the phone from sleep. I've been into the Wifi sleep policy Setting menu on the Hero and set it to never. Any ideas why it's not working?

Is there anything in the marketplace that would work for me? I've read many bad reviews on Locale and don't want to risk it for $10. Not averse to paying for a good app that someone can vouch for!

I would like to use my Hero on our company wifi network. We use WPA2-enterprise with TLS. There seem to be settings for this in the wifi settings menus but the drop-down for certificates only show "none". Where do I put these certificates? Or how do I import them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new, unbranded, unlocked Hero (my first, so I have no idea how things are supposed to work), and can't seem to get anywhere:After start I get language settings, then select "next", then a request for a SIM card. I don't have that card yet, but I can't skip this window. According to HTC-support, a SIMcard is not necessary for setting up the phone, using many of the functions, and using WiFi. But they didn't tell me how to solve the problem.After a lot of fiddling around, I managed to find the WiFi settings and got connected there. But there simply is no Home Page (or whatever its called, the main page that you see in all the adverts), I can't get to settings, there are no applications.I did a hard/factory restart, but no joy - the problem stays the same.
View 15 Replies View RelatedBeen having some weird MMS related problems in the last couple of days. To try to resolve them i've been trying to edit the APN settings, however, i've got 4(!) APN setttings on my phone which are locked, can't be edited or deleted. I'm sure i could edit them at some point in the past, but now all of them have little padlock icons next to them.
Phone was purchased unlocked but pre-configured for vodafone uk. Am i missing something obvious or has my brain gone wrong?
