JUst to let you guys know I received my HTC pouch the other day and it's the best thing I could have done. I used to have the gel case which was great but didn't protect the screen and I didn't want to quick a protector onto my phone. The beauty of the pouch is that is allows you to have the beautiful touch and feel of the phone but able to keep it well protected as well.

I'm coming to the Droid from a BB Curve and was wondering if there was a pocket holster/pouch similar to the OEM one. I'm not much for belt carry and I need a slim pouch to fit on my pocket.

Most of the ones out there seem to use magnets, which I've read is a bad idea.I want one that at least somewhat protects the corners so that I can take the hard shell (Body Glove) off (although I think I'm going to get one of the invisible shields for it).
View 25 Replies View RelatedI've seen a few threads from people having issues with the latest orange rom (2.73.61.66) but have yet to find anyone with the issue i'm having.
Basically, i keep getting an error message saying something like:
"this process has stopped unexpectedly"
giving the only option to force close. When it is force closed the same message pops up again. and again. and again. The only way to stop it is to either battle against the message and hope you can hit the power down button, or to pop the battery.
Sometimes it throws up other messages similar to the above one but for specific applications (ie sense, google talk..whatever..) but these never come alone, they always bring the original force close message.
Anyway, i've been onto orange and, tho i'm very pissed off, they have been good. they set me a replacement handset in less than 24 hrs (as they thought it might be a screen malfunction) which i was buzzing over until i got the same message! gutted. After talking to their tech support he suggested a hard reset followed by not adding any apps to the phone, so now i have a stock hero with stock apps and i'm waiting to see if i get a similar message...but in the mean time does anyone know of any possible conflicting applications? here is a list of the market apps i have used:

"Battery widget"
"Replica island"

It seems weird to me that i had no issues what so ever before upgrading the rom.
A while ago, I installed VillainROM in my HTC Hero because I wanted to try it out. Now I hear the official 2.1 has been released and since my phone is being a little buggy lately, I want to install the official one. "Off Course" I don't remember how I did it and don't know how to do the procedure.
1. Is there an official ROM for Belgium, I can download?
2. How do I do this (I know I did all the official steps while upgrading to VillainROM.
I installed VillainROM on my Hero last week, but I've been unhappy with its performance and I need to return the phone to Three. Might be a daft question, but I can't find any documentation on it - how do I revert to the official ROM?

Figured I would try to share the update with google docs. The other mirrors people send us are always all full of popups and such. Just seems much easier to use Google.
I currently have an official orange HTC Hero running on official 2.1. No problems, I actually like it a lot but browsing this sections of the forums, I've seen that people have taken advantage of rooting so. Are there any ROMs that you would pick over the official 2.1 that don't:
Eat battery life
Cause glitches(that are very noticeable)
And can:
be updated to directly from official 2.1
If you have any guides or info or links that are in English, I'd appreciate it if you could show them to me. But the most important thing is whether it's worth it.
It looks like even though 2.1 was rooted for the Hero, Sprint has now made a patch. Not only is there an OTA update that breaks the root, but apparently Sprint is pulling a sneaky one. They went and updated the RUU on the download page, but did not change the name of it. The old RUU for 2.1 was version 2.27.651.5. When downloaded the new RUU from Sprint is 2.27.651.6, which root is patched.

Is there any way at all for me to run skype?
I am getting calls going straight to voicemail with no missed calls on my phone, when I have full signal, so orange have (after a lot of calls) agreed to terminate my contract. I have to return my phone (shame I could not keep it for free!) and have rooted my phone, and installed the modaco ROM.
I want to return it with an orange ROM, and was wondering if I can just install the updated orange ROM on my phone over the top of the modaco, and has anyone done this successfully? From reading around I am assuming that this would hide the fact that I have ever rooted or installed a custom ROM, as I want to be back on warranty?
Just asking because a buddy of mine backed up all his stuff before he did the sprint official. He restored it after the update and had nothing but problems. Problems like the ones most of you on the forum are describing. After a hard reset and not restoring his backups he has no problems.

Once loaded, I did shut off Power Manager, as I think they conflict on some of the settings. Anyhow, has anyone else loaded it on the official 2.1 release? What's your experience?

Now, when I hit the back button to go to the home screen the screen turns black with the HTC text like it does at boot up. This happens every time I leave an application. I am rooted at the moment though I have not done anything else other than that. Should I reset this to factory specs? Also the headset jack is not detecting earphones which it was up until today.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running modaco 3.2 core custom rom ssh seems pretty good very little lag but cant help thinking that something is wrong as titanium back up, wireless teather and super user permision don't work they all load and then the screen goes black and says su request in the corner before saying activity su request(in application superuser permissions)is not responding, force close. i rooted and also started using gde home mod got to say it is pretty good although i had to pay for it but has a good replacement for sence only trouble is widgets don't seem to work or just aren't there except for clock,conversation, any of you experiencing this problem?is there something similar but better that widgets do work. what is the best firmware/rom upgrade e.g 1.6-1.8 or 2.1. If I start the superuser permissions app directly or via apps which make a root permissions request (titanium backup, some of the screenshot applications) the SU request program hangs with a plain black screen. It doesn't even respond to a force-close request from the "program has stopped responding" dialog.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Hero which I have had for about 4 and a half months seems to be getting dirty from the back. It looks like seem green ink or something that seems to be painted on. It is a very dirty green, I tried everything to get rid of it. Heck, I have even used bleach but nothing works. Does anyone have any idea how to remove it? Worst case scenario I'll just buy a cover to hide its imperfections. All of sudden the black version doesn't seem that bad anymore :$

I want one that fits nice and is lined with leather. I use the home and car dock frequently therefore I think a holster is the best style of case for me.
