Which one do you guys own? I know I can lookup google for images, but can someone be kind enough to post images of black and brown Hero? would love to see a closer imager.. gotta check it out online as I couldnt find any Hero phones in my small city..gotta order online without even feeling the phone.. would appreciate if you guys can help me decide on the colour now!

I have the option to get a Black HTC Desire or the Brown one. Both are the same price, but the Black one is Orange branded, while the Brown is a factory unlocked version with no branding.
The Black one does look better in my opinion but is it worth it with the issues that arise when updating software (phone locked, wifi issues) when it seems to me the factory setting one will be easier to root and update?
still waiting for my htc desire black,what do people think look the best brown or black? not seen a comparison of the two both together but went for the black because there will be less of them.been waiting 3 weeks for my phone and running out of patience.

I had a white HTC Hero and sold it for a Brown Hero because I read online that the Brown one come with 850/1900 Mhz bands which would pick up AT&T 3G. However, I am unable to get this device to connect to AT&T 3G. It connects to edge no problem. However, in places where my iPhone 3GS had 3G signal, this device just picks up Edge. My problem: How do I set the color back to "Color.BLACK" after the user releases the touchscreen?
I'm looking for something that is similar to Javascripts "onMouseUp" or "onKeyUp" methods. An OnClickReleaseListener() perhaps?
Can you point me in the right direction?
I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy but as 02 keep pushing back the release date i have given up on it and decided to go with the Hero.
I have found that Car phone warehouse and mobile phones direct have much better deals on this phone but not in my prefered colour of black.

I got a little textview defined in layout xml:

As you can see the background color is "background_light" (this results in white color) and the text color is "primary_text_light" (this results in black color).
I would have thought that primary_text_light would result in a "light" color like white, not black ;-)
When i change "primary_text_light" into "primary_text_dark" the text color becomes color white.
Is this a bug in the naming of the default colors?
I have the beautiful weather widget on my home screen with the clock... Now I want the clock color to go from white to black, but for some reason it stays white even when I change font color to black in the appearance panel. I don't want to change skins as I like this particular clock.. Anyway to do this?

I have taskiller and it seems that I have to always close programs and they wont stay off. Is there a better program out there that I can get to pick and choose what starts up when I turn the phone on?
My main issue with this is my camera. I have to turn off almost all of my programs in order to use my camera smoothly other wise its all choppy and sucks!
I purchased my phone in October 2010 from Bangalore, India ... After a week of use a white line developed on the display...
I took it to the service centre who said that it was a display defect and agreed to replace the screen ... But they said that the screen was out of stock ...
After waiting almost a month i got a call from them saying replacement screens have arrived ... I immediately went and got the screen changed ... After receiving the phone back i noticed that the screen seemed kinda dull with a brown tint to it at minimum brigtness ....
When i asked the service centre guy he asked me to use the phone for a while and then it will be fine ... I used the phone for two days and took it back after reading several such tint issues on the web ...
Initially the service centre guys refused to change the screen saying that its normal. Luckily for me another customer came in with a galaxy s. I used his phone and showed the technician the brown tint issue. He then agreed to the fact that there was a brown tint and replaced the screen once again...
The new screen also has the same issue ... I had no other option but to take it and leave ...
The whole fun of buying a great phone has been ruined by the technical issues and poor customer service ....
However if I try to change the lock screen wallpaper, it doesn't give me the choice of "wallpaper gallery":menu -> wallpaper -> lock screen..just takes me directly to my photo albums.How can I choose lock screen wallpaper from the existing wallpaper gallery?

I used to have the gel case which was great but didn't protect the screen and I didn't want to quick a protector onto my phone. The beauty of the pouch is that is allows you to have the beautiful touch and feel of the phone but able to keep it well protected as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just removed advance task killer and a few other apps that were slowing me down. Now, when I hit the back button to go to the home screen the screen turns black with the HTC text like it does at boot up. This happens every time I leave an application. I am rooted at the moment though I have not done anything else other than that. Should I reset this to factory specs? Also the headset jack is not detecting earphones which it was up until today.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running modaco 3.2 core custom rom ssh seems pretty good very little lag but cant help thinking that something is wrong as titanium back up, wireless teather and super user permision don't work they all load and then the screen goes black and says su request in the corner before saying activity su request(in application superuser permissions)is not responding, force close. i rooted and also started using gde home mod got to say it is pretty good although i had to pay for it but has a good replacement for sence only trouble is widgets don't seem to work or just aren't there except for clock,conversation, any of you experiencing this problem?is there something similar but better that widgets do work. what is the best firmware/rom upgrade e.g 1.6-1.8 or 2.1. Has anyone got these working well on the hero. Is there a big delay when waiting for a alert after you receive a message or is it just my hero?

If I start the superuser permissions app directly or via apps which make a root permissions request (titanium backup, some of the screenshot applications) the SU request program hangs with a plain black screen. It doesn't even respond to a force-close request from the "program has stopped responding" dialog.
