Just asking because a buddy of mine backed up all his stuff before he did the sprint official. He restored it after the update and had nothing but problems. Problems like the ones most of you on the forum are describing. After a hard reset and not restoring his backups he has no problems.

View 45 Replies View RelatedMy phone died in the middle of taking video. Came home a couple hours later, plugged my phone into the charger. I turned the phone on, after it was plugged in. My phone froze during the little HTC and Hero intro. After the freeze, it was back on, but my screens were all back to factory settings! It also asked me to calibrate my keyboard, and the little popup bubbles to guide the user with their "new phone" came up! All my apps were gone!! I lost ALL of my contacts! The only thing that stayed was my pictures and videos. It doesn't make any sense to me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 running SlimSaber 4.4.2 20140531 (Kernel 3.0.80-SlimKernel+). I backed up my APKs and Data with MyBackup Pro. Switched from NeatROM by flashing to Slim Saber. Restored all my data using MyBackup Pro. Mostly everything works except for Viber
A fresh installation of Viber works. But the moment I restore my data, it will not start up anymore. I've checked CatLog and the main error seems to be permission based:

I've tried manually changing the permissions to follow the same perms from the "fresh data" of Viber - but that doesn't seem to fix this error.

Please Post all Sprint Hero update rumors here. This not to be confused with the " Official 2.1 Thread. I would also sugest to our ever so patient moderators to move any post of this nature to this thread. Let's clean up the forum and when the update is out out we can get rid of all this with one flush.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've noticed whenever I use a new ROM and restore from a update.zip (with all apps, data..etc) there are a few problems...
1) Applications restore correctly, but Accounts, Wi-Fi Access points...etc do not... I have to boot into the ROM and restore them via TitaniumBackup.
2) Restored applications work, but some don't start on Launch like Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook, Facebook Messenger but applications like Dropbox, Skype (autorunner), GMail, Yahoo Mail do and every single one of these apps has been ran once manually. If I used Xposed and "Bootmanager" I can visually see that they should run on launch as it says they are going to however they don't. The only way I can get them to run at launch is to uninstal the application and reinstall it manually (thus losing my data for the app, as restoring the data only doesn't work).
I'm running rubix focused .5 and its been great, I installed the camera-search-voice fix and didnt have any problems along with having full camera functionality. Eventually I decided to try the Incognito theme since it had a "blurless" version. I noticed it changed my camera icon obviously but I didnt actually open it. I decided I didnt like it, so I restored my nandroid I made immediately before putting the theme on. Next thing I notice, my camera shortcuts are the generic green apk icon. And they dont work, at all.
I nandroid restore to an even earlier back-up (from right after applying rubix) and still no camera functionality. It doesnt appear in my apps under manage applications, the blurcamera.apk is in the system folder, and I tried deleting/replacing that again, and installing it right from the apk and I get an install failed. I don't understand how I could lose my camera app when I restore to a back-up that had it working fine.
I struggle with technology! Tried to download photos. Prompted to update phone. Prompted to download Backup doc. Did backup successfully. When Restored - all of my contacts have gone !! hen I check thro my text messages I can find contacts beginning with A B C L and M . HELP
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt looks like even though 2.1 was rooted for the Hero, Sprint has now made a patch. Not only is there an OTA update that breaks the root, but apparently Sprint is pulling a sneaky one. They went and updated the RUU on the download page, but did not change the name of it. The old RUU for 2.1 was version 2.27.651.5. When downloaded the new RUU from Sprint is 2.27.651.6, which root is patched.

View 11 Replies View RelatedNow that we are on 2.1, Juice Defender works on our phones. I have been running it for a couple days, and I think it is helping. Still need to do some better calculations. Once loaded, I did shut off Power Manager, as I think they conflict on some of the settings. Anyhow, has anyone else loaded it on the official 2.1 release? What's your experience?

Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?

Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I got a new Hero about a month ago. Last weekend, it basically restored itself to factory settings. All my contacts are gone, all the apps I downloaded had gone, text messages, calendar, the lot. It was as if I had pushed a button and reset the phone. Now, little by little, stuff has come back. I logged back into my google account and I would assume the calendar syncs with the google calendar as all my appointments are back. The Google account also remembered which apps I had and I redownloaded them. However, the contacts and the text messages have never come back. Is this a known issue? Is my phone possibly faulty and needs to be returned? I'm so confused. I do love this phone but I am not putting up with a phone which I cannot rely upon.

Some apps I have backedup but they won't install, is this down to the developers choosing to protect their apps or not.

View 7 Replies View RelatedLast night rooted my phone & installed vallian 5.3. took me awhile to get it right but its working fine. however i installed my back to back up all my apps/data but iam having trouble restoring it back into my phone. I install my back up & when i hit restore, it says cannot get back up info etc...really weird as ive placed all the files back onto my sd card & i see them. this is annoying cause i even backed up export2contacts to restore my phone numbers but i need my apps restored for anything to work. really dont wanna download all of them again.

Once up and running, does the Nandroid backup work on this configuration? Or must you keep your files in the Hero to get a functional backup? Now using the 1.6.2 version of RA.

I am trying to restore a nandroid backup and everyone comes up with the following error "Error : run 'nandroid-mobile.shrestore' via adb! i tried restoring factory defaults and then doing the restore and it still didnt work. I have also tried restores that i know i have used in the past.

I forgot to wipe before restoring a nandroid (DC2.08.1) last night, and subsequently have made some changes. Everything seems to be working OK. I will make a new Nandroid backup.
Is there any benefit to then wiping and restoring that new nandroid backup? Or will the backup just re-install what I have just wiped? Sorry, I don't understand what exactly is being wiped.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the nandroid backup my the process starts, then i think the phone goes to reboot during the process (I assume this is part of the process?) then I get a error icon on my phone a Triangle with a exclamation point in the middle, then I'm stuck, the phone wont reconnect to Fresh Kitchen. should I use recovery to fore reboot? help? One thought, do i have to use the USB to micro USB that comes with the phone or can I just use a standard micro USB to USB that I always use (the one that came with my digital camera)
