I can get user Account token from Android AccountManager API, how can i get the related email info from this AuthSub token? i've found no appropriate GData API so far
Why should i do this? i need to make sure the token and email are paired to avoid a fake token which not related to the email account.

What is a feature graphic? Could anyone provide an example? Is it required (the console doesn't seem to require it). Also, are "alpha channels allowed in the high resolution icon? Many icons have transparent backgrounds. If you don't allow alpha channels in PNG icons, what should we set the background to?

I am attempting to build an app that shows a list of items, and when the user clicks on an item, it will display an image of that item, as well as information about it. I'm not sure the best way to present this information. Would using the Toast widget be best? Or TextView? Or, is there another way, like creating a new activity, that makes more sense?
After the user clicks on the list item, and reads the presented info, they should be able to return to the list.
I've posted a bigger chunk of the code below. You can see that initially QUOTE was procedural- coded in place. I'm trying to learn how to use declarative design so I want to do the same thing but by using resources. It seems like I need to access the string.xml thru the @R.id tag and identify QUOTE with that string value. But I don't know enough to negotiate this.

I'm wondering how to use the GData APIs without requiring the user to type their username and password in my app. The user has to login to the phone, so it doesn't make much sense to me that apps would require them to type it in again. The phone's calendar and Gmail apps obviously don't prompt so how is it done?
I found some threads on this which indicate this isn't possible, but they are pretty old and I was wondering if there is any new information (i.e., given that we have a new SDK version 1.1).
this Android code worked fine before, but i'm having problems for some reason. here is the request i'm trying to make: https://www.google.com/reader/api/0/token. i'm getting 400:Bad Request as a response, and i'm not sure why. isn't this the correct URL for requesting a token? the auth token is being passed as a header in all requests now, and i can request feed list, and it works just fine, so there's nothing wrong with the auth code. what gives? in addition, i can request a token in a normal browser, like Chrome, and get a token as a response body. so the request itself is not the problem. i just can't figure out what is wrong with my requests in code...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to droids and I decided to root my x. Everything was fine until I started deleting bloatware. I deleted something and now my market and all google related programs don't work. Gmail, talk, market, etc. I downloaded all of the original apk's and reinstalled all of them and still nothing. Also after deleting all bloatware everything worked fine until I factory data reset.
When it rebooted that was where the problem started. I'm not an idiot when it comes to these phones and know what I'm doing usually I just deleted something that a list told me was safe to delete and apparently wasn't.hopefully someone can help me out. Oh and I am unrooted now due to bringing it in to verizon to get it warranty'd out. I wanna fix it that way I can sell it to a lucky someone for cheap and no 2 year contact rather than sending it back to motorola.
Up until today I've had my phone syncing with Google (Contacts and Calendar). Through a bit of searching and work, I've now finally got Kies installed and I want to have my Captivate sync only with Outlook. The problem I see at this point is that if I sync now, I'm basically going to have everything duplicated in my phone. I simply want to remove the Gmail account and all my existing contacts, calendar entries, etc.
When I go into Accounts & Sync, if I attempt to remove gmail, it states that some programs are using this and I'll have to do a factory restore to remove it. This would apparently remove all my downloaded software which I definitely don't want to do. The phone is rooted and enabled for side loading along with all of AT&T's bloatware blown out. Is there another option that I might be missing to remove this? I really want to use Kies and stop using gmail to sync.
I setup both my company exchange email and a Gmail account on my new Eris. However, the notifications for a new email on the exchange account only say "1 new email (exchange active sync)", instead of specifying the subject/sender. If I receive a Gmail notification, it shows all the info in the notifications screen.Is there a setting somewhere that affects this? I'd like to be able to see the info in the notification screen without opening up the mail app. I've searched my heart out but couldn't find any solutions. A similar thread from October is here.

The Wife is up town now getting me the HTC Hero. I've just watched a vid on the internet where it says I need a google account. Ok, I signed up but what's it for? What do I do with it? Twice, with different contacts, the home phone numbers just disappeared from both the phone and my google account. Last Saturday I entered a completely new contact info for a friend (incl. a picture) and on Sunday the contact was gone both from my phone and my google account. I always enter this information on my computer via google contacts and then it does get successfully synced to my Incredible and is available for a while.
When the contact disappears it's gone both from my phone and my google account info, it doesn't show in "all contacts" either - it's gone for good. I have created a groupd called "New Friends" where these contacts were placed. I belive they are still also automatically part of "My Contacts". It's been easy to notice the disappearance since I only have a few contacts in this "New Friends" group. I worry about this happening, esp if it's not easy to notice. I've seen other threads with this type of problem over the years when I searched, but there doesn't seem to be a solution for this rather serious problem.

Am I doing something wrong? If I am using Google Maps/Navigator - happily following along as my car wends it's way down the street and I have to exit to say, answer a phone call, look at another app. when I go back into Navigator my destination info is gone. I have to re-enter my destination.

what exactly does it mean? I googled it and tried the clear data/cache of google play/google frame and it did not work.
I have also deleted then added back my gmail account and it did not work.

I'm connecting to my AppEngine application using the Apache HttpComponents library. In order to authenticate my users, I need to pass an authentication token along to the application's login address (http://myapp.appspot.com/%5Fah/login?auth=...) and grab a cookie from the header of the response. However, the login page responds with a redirect status code, and I don't know how to stop HttpClient from following the redirect, thus thwarting me from intercepting the cookie.
Fwiw, the actual method I use to send the request is below. How would I stop the client from following the redirect?
